Your solo expedition to the Arctic Ocean is not just a trip; it’s a bold adventure that reflects your spirit of exploration. It’s a journey that many dream of but few undertake, and your experiences will undoubtedly inspire others to embrace their own adventures, whether alone or with companions.
Thank you for taking us along on this adventure. My goal since I became paralyzed, has been to make it to Tuktoyaktuk. Since I see the troubles that you had, I know my wheelchair van will not make it at this time. So I thank you for taking me on the journey I’ve wanted to go on for a few years. This is the best video I’ve seen this year on UA-cam. And as always, you are an excellent narrator. Please be safe in your travels.
Awww thanks Charlie! If you aren’t following driving the Dempster highway on Facebook I recommend it! You might find someone to go with that is down to assist or get some great tips for your specific style of travel! Cheers ❤
I was in Tuktoyuktuk in June (this year, 2024) on the 18th. Met a family there that went up in a Ford van, Ford Focus & a Toyota car They made it there & back with little issues. Time of year is very important when planning the trip combined with weather patterns I lucked out with no issues, others behind me had to deal with rain, snow & fire (and the ferry not running)
@@WheelchairCharlie I put an "old" set of 33" mud terrain tires on my Jeep and just about burned all the tread off. No flats encountered. My recommendation is to run the smallest rims possible with the tallest tire you can fit on your van. Make sure you have multiple anchor points on your van in case of trouble & have a backup plan (a friend with another vehicle) that can do the trip with you Take a thousand pictures and it will still not be enough
@@NaeKid thank you for the info. We are good at taking pictures. That’s for sure we have over 153,000 uploaded to Amazon. My son and I have done the trip to Alaska before in 2017. We are at least going to do that if we don’t go to Tuktoyaktuk.
I remember Foresty's Tuktoyaktuk video in the dead of winter. Seeing it in the summer along with the all the historical information is awesome! Great video! And the sentence "drive SOUTH to Alaska" is surreal lol
Wonderful chapter in your chronicle. Congratulations on reaching the Arctic Ocean. That is no small feat. Your video is nicely assembled, has rich content, and a solid story line. Glad the mosquitoes didn’t suck y’all down too badly. Thanks so much for sharing.😊
YOU DID IT!!!!! Congratulations 😁 amazing! What an incredible achievement. Thank you again for adding all the indigenous names and translations. And for adding the festival footage. Gotta keep the cultures alive ❤ I hope you and William had the best time 💚
Congratulations ❤🎉 Crossed the Arctic Circle 2 yrs ago in Yukon and Alaska, this year in Finland and right now on my way to the Arctic Ocean in Norway. Can feel your joy & wish you beautiful moments. Enjoy life every day!
I've been to Dawson City about 10 times, when I lived in Alaska for 37 years. Never did take the Dempster Highway turnoff, always wondered about it as I passed by. Thank you for showing me what's up there!!!
What a great adventure! You made it! (Hopefully the mosquitos haven't carried you off yet) Thanks for sharing your journey and glad you had fun. Well Done Louie! See ya next video! :D
Amazing journey and journaling of your adventure to part of my own country I’ve only ever dreamed of seeing! There are 3 things that make me tear up, and one of them is indigenous drumming! Thanks for the video from the Arts festival. Congrats too on daring to swim in the Ocean. You are so tenacious! Keep the story telling coming.
To my dear granddaughter, what a feat. Your grandpa Lonnie Keys and great grandpa O. Grant Schafer and the Truman side in mid 1800s reaching half across the country in mid 1800s 😢 would be soooo proud of you. And I am too. Don't have the space tp tell you how very proud I am. And how honored I am to have shared. your first nearly across North America trip in 2019. Oh the places we will go. A family of adventurers but no one touches your amazing accomplishments. A big hug for you!!!
I’ll think twice before complaining about mosquitoes here in Arizona 😮 Love watching these northern adventures. And love the inclusion of a José González song. Perfect compliment to the adventure 👌
Thank you for taking us on your adventure! ✨✨✨Going to the Arctic Ocean has been one of my dreams and I hope to do it one day! Truly awesome journey and you did it by yourself! Watching your stuff gives me the courage to do more solo things! I'm planning my first solo backpacking trip thanks to the inspiration of your videos. Getting a flat is always it's own adventure but woohoo on getting it fixed!
My wife and I have been following your channel for a while now, but this is the first comment - we loved this video series of your Arctic Ocean drive. Absolutely epic adventure, and you captured it exceedingly well. Thanks for taking us along on your once-in-a-lifetime drive… now go get some new tires!! 😁
Loui, you never cease to amaze me, I love your spirit and connection to all things positive. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us all. Love you and William lots XX 💗
Fabulous Update! Thanks for sharing history of the area, and some of the traditions (and the care you took in sharing). The mosquito hoards look dreadful, but being at Tuk, and the ocean, and dipping in... amazing! What a journey! Inspiring and entertaining. Hope your travels south are interesting in the best possible ways! 👍
I really appreciate your time dedicated to history and culture inTuk. For so many YT overlanders it's only about them and their drive. I have been to Tuk twice for work, summer and winter. The mosquitoes in July are indescribable!
One of the best documentaries I've ever watched on tripping through the Canadian North. I had no idea what it's like up there or the difficulty driving there.
too cool! i was just there for the summer solstice and the festival of the sun. but it was overcast, blustery, and 2°C. i hope your trip stays in your memories for a long time.
What an accomplishment! You are in a select club of people who can say they have gone swimming in the Arctic ocean. Onward and upward...look forward to your next adventure!
So brave girl! Every time I wanna be an adventurer I have to consider mosquitos. Bleeps up the whole mood but soooo glad you didn’t let those jerks ruin your adventure!
Thanks for highlighting my home ... I'm an Inuvialuit Elder now living in Edmonton. I estimate I've done the Dempster Highway at least 20 times out and back and it is, IMHO, the best drive in Canada. Take good care Loui ... and thanks to Simon for introducing you to me / us.
Thanks friend! It was a pleasure to get to experience the beautiful nature in that area and a learn little bit about Inuvialuit culture. I will never forget how incredibly welcoming and helpful everyone was 🥰
So proud your finally where you wondered if you'd ever be. Look at you. Your doing what I would have done fifty years ago. You go girl!! Kiss, hug precious William for me. God be with you.😊
Congratulations on a very successful and entertaining trip. I am a big fan of the information that you dispense to us. OH, how you have grown. We have never met, but when I met you. You and your mom bought the property in Alaska. I used to love to listen to the dreams you guys had for the place. I know you are headed back to Alaska, and I hope we see your mom and brother. You are officially braver than I. Because I would have never got in that water with or without the mosquitos. I have also heard that Polar bears don't mess around and if they see you, they try to eat you.
You made it! The Arctic Ocean is beautiful! The sun just rolls across the horizon. To dip in it, twice? You truly are an adventure, mainly in facing those swarms of gigantic mosquitos. No way.
Congratulations on achieving your goal of reaching the Artic ocean. You even did it solo. You should be proud of yourself. Safe Journey home and look forward to your new adventures.
I really want to thank you for presenting Canada in such a bright light (no pun intended with the midnight sun LOL, oh well, yes, why not...), with such kindness, reverence, interest, and positive attitude. You really seem to have adopted the country. Congrats on changing the tire, this is my next thing to learn, what if I'm ever stranded in such an out of the way place. No, serious, I gotta learn, I admire your guts and tenacity. Beautiful trip !
Thanks for the ride , Loui ... Quite enjoyable , you are a pure delight ... I must say , that your artistry and production quality are top notch ... Very pleasant flow and feel to you and your videos ... Nicely done Lil sister ...
That was a beautiful video, full of interesting points, and beautiful views, and a show of freedom and independence with a splash of magical self love and strength ❤🎉 Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉
What an inspiring trip, Loui! You're so brave in so many ways.❤❤❤

I sure hope this inspires people to go on adventures that they’ve always wanted to go on! ❤
Your pronunciation of the town and area is amazing.
😅 thank you! glad to hear it. I wanna be as accurate as I can be!
Hurrah!!! You did it! So brave to dunk in the ARTIC OCEAN with all those mosquitoes...UGH 😂. 👌🇨🇦

Tuk feels like a really nice place - except for the bugs, but hey, summers are short! Thanks for sharing ❤
Those mosquitos are crazy. I would've died out there, mosquito bites grow to golf ball size on me.
Just discovered you can rub vanilla/water blend on you to hide your scent from 🦟 from keep them away from you! It works! I also use vanilla insence.
Me too! It's called Skeeter Syndrome. You're allergic to their saliva
What a trip of a lifetime, thanks for letting us go on it with you!
Loui, this is an excellent series. You are such a wonderful story teller and an inspiration.
Yay, thanks Loui, that was great.
