Imogen is coming to Aotearoa! Yay!! And the old fulla too I guess. 😅 You should check our electric tug boat in Auckland, electric ferry in Wellington, electric hydrofoil ferry in Auckland and Palmerston North's 100% electric public transport bus fleet. There's also lots of full electric machines like diggers, front end loaders and a mining dump truck. All in commercial operation.
Side note Robert, if you come to Palmerston North be kind. The last British comedian who wasn't had a a rubbish dump officially named after him. Mt Cleese can be viewed from various spots on the river walk track.
Hopefully they will also be informed on how the new National coalition has completely tanked EV sales in NZ from ~6000 in 2023 to 700 in 2024. There was a penalty tax on inefficient Utes etc with the proceeds financing EV rebates. Gone! Plus now $76/1000km Road User Charge (RUC) plus $13 recording fee for EVs. The transport minister sounds like he is auditioning for a part in a remake of 1984 with the BS he spouts. Even PHEV get wacked but NOT Toyota hybrids... Hmmm...
Gavin’s video was great and the cherry farm is not remote by NZ standards! Imogen is my favourite with Helen and so I hope we get the chance to meet her.

13:30 You're thinking of "Trigger's broom", Imogen. From an episode of Only Fools and Horses, where Trigger tells them that he's had the same broom throughout his career as a street sweeper. Having only changed the head a dozen times, and the broom handle half a dozen times. Of course, this is the modern version of the classical "the Ship of Theseus". Where Theseus' ship, similar to Trigger's broom, has every single part of it replaced, over time, from being repaired. So the grand philosophical question is, is it the same broom or is it the same ship? And it is a good philosophical question to ask because, of course, the human body replaces all of its cells roughly every 7 years. So we ourselves are a "ship of Theseus" - in what sense am I the same person I was 20 years ago? If every part of me has been replaced, then could you say that the only part of me that has survived all this time is merely the inheritance of my memories? Does that mean that all I am is a collection of memories? A set of weights inside a natural neural network? Greater minds than mine have had no idea how to answer that, though, so I wouldn't be so bold as to even guess. But, yeah, you were thinking of "Trigger's broom" / "the ship of Theseus".

Merry Christmas to the whole team. Thank you for your hard work this year. We’re looking forward to seeing you all in the New Year at the Melbourne show.😊
Been a steady fan since fall 2023. these guys helped me pick out my first EV purchase in June 2024. Imogen 's happy outlook and Jack's rapier wit always bring me back for more. Wishing you all great success in 2025!
Interesting I forgot his name a German Truck driver in a E Truck.Follow him through Germany and how it goes regarding charging and distant covered. Also the ease of driving his truck.
That’s Tobias IIRC, a very interesting channel. What’s really interesting is he’s actually a software developer by training and decided to take a break to do something else. Also he has converted his Tesla into a camper
That's Tobias Wagner aka @elektrotrucker who also runs an english channel called "electric trucker" with dubbing. I am quite envious about the fully charged show as a EU european. However Tobias' show is marvellous, interesting, positive and humbling as it shows also the everyday struggles of lorry driving across Germany if not even (continental) Europe. And he proves everyday that long distance haulage is possible even today without fancy and expensive Megawatt charging ... and with pleasure. Thanks to the team of FCS for this episode and all the other ones.
There is so much happening in the electric truck space but hardly anyone is talking about it! Since they're not mass-market vehicles the general public doesn't get a lot of news as it is, but even on the industry side they are starting to become more common. Not delivery vans, but full size road tractors hauling freight.
Love the end of year wrapups! I can hear the excitement about all the new cars for 2025 but I’m curious if CyberCab is on your radar? That is surely to be one of the biggest stories in the EV space for 2025. Would be fantastic if you could do a bit on it. Look forward to seeing you in Vancouver again, Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!
Great way to end the year. Thank you. Excellent episode. Really looking forward to Fully Charged Sydney 2025 (not waiting patiently). Merry Xmas Fully Charged & Everything Electric team.
Merry Christmas, Fully Charged team. I was talking to an electrician at Fortescue Future Industries about thier battery electric train they are building will you be visting Western Australia next year?
Not sure anybody noticed the Great-spotted Woodpecker visiting the birdfeeder behind Robert?.. Good to see the birds, as I am sure there is plenty of wildlife in the area where his house is.
Outstanding year, 2024! Do it again in 2025! We went to your show in Vancouver, in September. Outstanding show, we hope to make it again in 2025! I thought, that the folks on the panels, & the booths, upstairs, except for the Rolls Royce, were way better, than all the new EVs!
Great episode, really enjoyed it. Thank you for everything you have done and are doing. You are making a huge impact, so much more so than your MSM counterparts. Enormous bang for your buck, please never stop. Merry Christmas to all the team.
Merry Christmas to everyone at EE-Show! I truly enjoy your content. As an EV driver in Norway and someone who has utilized solar energy (both heat pipes and photovoltaic systems) for over a decade, I can confirm the accuracy and relevance of your information. I’m eagerly looking forward to more great content next year. Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
Thanks to the whole team for every video and all your work this year. Met lots of you at the live shows and you seem great in person too. Love all the content. Please carry on the good work in 2025.
Great year thanks looking forward to you being so so busy in 2025 with all the stuff happening. Surprised Imogen did not mention the truck people in Canada too though.
Merry Christmas to the Fully Charged Team. My highlight was being at the Everything Electric Show in Harrogate and getting to chat to the wonderful crew!
Wonderfull show. Merry Christmas all. So much went on in this episode, Imogen trying to get rid of all the Maevings one by one. Andy the camera-man claiming to have crashed a Dacia when it sounds like he was just sat in one when another journalist crashed. I liked the comment from Jack about getting punched if he ever got that blaze. Then wondered why it would have to be Robert that should punch him. I soon worked out that getting a chair for Imogen to do it would be too much faffing, though I suspect you would wish it had been Robert if she did. I noticed that donuts were mentioned twice, and neither mention was of the food variety. I think this could be a Fully charged/everything electric show record. Love it all, congratulations on the great work, long may it continue.
A lot of very interesting stuff covered this year, thanks for all that info. In NZ we have an excellent EV tug boat as well, in Auckland. So as well as eating the renewable cherries, check out our renewable Tug, you will be impressed. NZ has a very high renewable electric percentage, a lot more than Ausi has. Hydro, thermal, wind and solar.
Just left a message in your very first fully charged episode Robert of 14years ago. That episode is still soooooooo relevant today. Had you guys ever thought about diong some other channel like the "still to be decided" channel?
Stoked to hear you're coming to NZ and visiting Mike Casey and Forest Lodge Orchard. I was lucky to hear him give a talk at a brewery in my home town of Wanaka and he absolutely inspired me and my family to start our electrification journey. Sadly I don't think an EV charger every 50km is completely accurate, at least not in the South Island. Particularly the West Coast (SH6); the day that whole drive becomes possible in a mid range EV will be a brilliant day for NZ EVs. Anyway, enjoy the trip!
From watching the shows over the past two years, I’ve been sold on the various green topics resulting with us now having an MG4, Solar, Batteries, and more recently an Air Source Heat Pump. I am even turning into a geek selling the idea’s of their benefits to those who will listen and to those who will not. I think perhaps though that the likes of Imogen should be using the more investigative side of her nature which comes through aspects of questions asking more challenging to more challenging topics. Two such area’s are firstly, are those like my self who have Batteries in the loft, are at any risk, given that good companies are no longer willing to place them there. What evidence is this based on? Secondly I would like to see taking a critical look at ASHP and Batteries been placed in more challenging properties rather than the fortunate like my self who live in a semi, or detached houses. What about those who live in small terraced houses? We have to support those who may feel green energy is not for them due to cost and practicality. You all inspire change in all of us, can’t wait for 2025.
"I bet you still say mileage" ...on a related subject you'll be familiar with, I'll bet when you are filming you still say "getting some footage". Do cameras "roll" anymore? As for forgetting stuff half way through a conversation, yes, it happens in other walks of life too (me, as a councillor, trying to listen to planning objections). Tempus fugitting: It was 6 years ago I came across Robert doing his Fully Charged bit to persuade us all that electric was the way forward. 5 years and few weeks ago I bought my Model 3 (the full monty version - because I was treating myself to a retirement present). Its only (!!) done 42,000 miles. Have a great Christmas everyone. Keep up the good work in the new year.
Triggers Broom is what Imogen was thinking of - it's from an episode of Only Fools and Horses where Trigger claims to have had the same broom for 25 years, and he's only replaced the brush and the handle a few times each.
Everything Electric team great work whole year bringing us podcasts, videos and other great content from the world of EVs, sustainable technology, electric developments,... Keep it up and all the best in 2025 🤟🤟😍😍😍
Ah, that was so lovely! Thank you. 14:40 No heater? In the 1950s that was usual for poverty models. A heater would be an optional extra. In a friend's dad's car - Ford Popular? - it was an add-on box below the dashboard in front of the gear wand ("lever" would imply a solidity, serenity and precision it did not possess). The dad couldn't help pointing to it, saying, "It's got a heater, you know" or "Shall we put the heater on?" 50:50 Electric trucks… this guy has interesting things to say: www.youtube.com/@electrictrucker (albeit dubbed from German)
the Ioniq 5N gives me hope for the electric future. There is a reason Manual gearboxes are still popular, we like to touch things. As you say, so many EV's are sterile, and I accept a LOT of people don't care for fun, and just want to get from A to B without any hassle, but there are still those of us that want Interactivity.
There are 2 recent advances I am very excited about as they could make solar/electric vehicles far more practical! Perovskite solar panels (potentially doubling capacity) & new solid state high density/lighter batteries could revolutionize transit - from 2 wheels, to 16 wheels, to wings & floats. I am thrilled with some low speed solar/electric micro-vehicles already available in the $10,000 range (Wink Motor's Solar Sprout & the Solar Squad Car); but advances in this area would take solar vehicles out of a niche category with speed & range, and eliminating most of local use charging is a huge convenience and freeing factor.
Would love to hear from you re the experience of having a rental car and charging in AUS and NZ. I've just spent a month in Germany with an electric rental. No apps were available for a foreign (AUS) phone but most (not all!) chargers had an ad-hoc payment via a QR then credit card online, although this seemed to be a more expensive option in some cases. I don't know if this is possible in AUS/NZ, and I don't know if our charger network apps are available for your English phones or if they're geoblocked from being installed. This should be a topic for review, and for discussion on a panel (maybe "charging for travellers").
I really enjoyed lustening to you three Brits year and chat. Thank you. Oh, i will have to check out the Renaikt 5 ev. I imagine it is not available in the US.
At 10.17. Confused terminology/conversation. The first wind turbine in the UK was on shore in Orkney, not off shore. It was at Costa Head according to Google. That's not on the mainland, but it's not off shore.
Great chat, you are so right about #DriverDistraction. When Robert is in Australia, get him to speak to Aussie firm Seeing Machines about their #DMS #DriverMonitoringSystems - especially with Ford #BlueCruise and GM #SuperCruise.
In early 2025 could you please do a video on vertical ground source heatpumps? I believe they are by far the most efficient, as the difference between deep underground temperatures and air temperatures in the winter are huge, as well as vertical bore holes only requiring a tiny amount of garden. There's loads of info on air source, but almost nothing on vertical Ground Source. Thanks!
e-C3 still not available in the UK yet Jack. You can order it, but even the left hand drive showroom models have now gone back to France. Hopefully early January 🤷♂️
Please can we have a video on why electricity prices are expensive in the uk given the high proportion of renewables (which are supposed to be cheaper) and whether this will change in the future.
That’s hilarious Imogen. After 50 years of navigating the world in aircraft, boats and cars, I still have to do a quick ‘Never eat Shredded Wheat’ too. It must be a sign of intelligence!
All the best for the team, Christmas days like to take a bit of rest right? See your families as on the road you all haven't seen them much I guess. Hope to see the Fully Charged Show back in Amsterdam in some future? Careful with fireworks, like to see the whole team in one piece next year 🤣
15:20 'kilometrage' (pronounce it slightly french) yes it's a thing (i won't bore you with the polish spelling but that's how I remember it being spoken)
Check out Gavin Shoebridge video about driverless tractor in New Zealand exact same place you are going to. You'll find it in UA-cam with the title "An Electric DRIVERLESS Tractor in New Zealand"
If you want to do more about electric trucks, Fox Brothers in Lancashire have been running electric tipper trucks for delivery of aggregates for about 3 years so it is not new
Try the new Dongfeng Nammi Box . . .THAT is en awesome competitor for the sub €25.000 EV's. I think it is on points better than the ë-C3 Max, but €6.000 cheaper. The Mercedes dealers in Netherlands sell them in stead of the Smart #1. It even has a bit of the looks of the Smart. Not as powerful as the Smart, but serious nice EV for €23.400.
Friends in lands that use kilometres for distance *always* use 'mileage', even when their other metrics are things like kW/100km, etc. Also, UK (and US) says ki-LOM-ettah, which is what I grew up with; most of the places that use km flatten it to kilow-mee-tah. Odd how these things go! With the announcement of a merger between Nissan and Honda, could the behind-the-scenes Ford/VW platform sharing with various iD.Ford models (Crapi, Explorer) indicate further legacy consolidation in the face of more agile brands? Finally, trucks - for sure, not all current use-cases can use BEV (think very heavy cargo work, for example), it won't be long before these are viable. All the major truck groups are working on non-diesel power systems, and even trailer manufacturers too - electric motors, regen, batteries, etc. can be used throughout the whole set-up and not restricted to where a driveshaft can run. 2025 will see 600km range eHGV units, and also trailers with maybe 500km of range assistance (e.g. Krone e-Mega Liner) that can boost that to the region of 900km before recharging is needed. That's a prediction from the Head of Electromobility at Volvo Trucks Germany, Benjamin Schiebler, who has regularly corresponded with one of my friends in Germany about this over the last couple of years. He's has also stated he is confident that battery tech will outpace early eHGV take-up, meaning 800-1000km range units could be available shortly after. It'd be interesting if the new Windrose unit could come to EU/UK - hopefully it's not too long for the total train length limits here. That truck has already been tested doing over 600km fully loaded, and it could have had 1000km range except that would make it heavier than a comparable ICE unit and therefore have additional impact in terms of lost revenue due to lower cargo weights possible. 2025 was also when my Aptera was scheduled to arrive, but that's a different story!
In NZ, don’t rely on there being a DC charger available every 50km, or even 100km on some routes. This would mostly be around major centres and there is a lot of space in between. Most trips are doable but check with ABRP first. Also , it’s still OK to say “mileage” in NZ even though we abolished that abomination of a system over 50 years ago.
Also you might be interested in how much of the rest of the stone fruit industry in Central Otago relies on old but well maintained Massey Ferguson tractors.

Thanks for another great chat, looking forward to 2025 with the Fully Charged / Everything Electric group 🎉
Everything Electric team great work whole year bringing us podcasts, videos and other great content from the world of EVs, sustainable technology, electric developments,...
Keep it up and all the best in 2025 🤟🤟😍😍😍
Go and have a drive with the Electrotrucker in Germany. Should be an amazing episode.
34:40 Love Imogen using 'Never Eat Shredded Wheat" to remember which direction is West 🤣
When you come to Vancouver you might consider an episode on the Passive House Certified Fire Hall with its electric fire truck
The dad couldn't help pointing to it, saying, "It's got a heater, you know" or "Shall we put the heater on?"
50:50 Electric trucks… this guy has interesting things to say: www.youtube.com/@electrictrucker (albeit dubbed from German)
1951 "Even older than me!" Pah, NOT older than me! Merry Christmas, keep up the fantastic work.
So you are the same age as Jack Benny 😊
@@craigmerrow225 I'm not THAT old! A mere 74 🙂
little surprised there was no mention of Edison in the "Big Trucks" section
Love these sort of episodes. Here's to seeing some EV truck stuff in 2025👍 Hope Jack's recovered from the hangover.
❤
Wishing Everyone at Everything Electric Show, A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Marry Christmas all the highlights have to be that Retro Renault 5. They actually seemed true to their word on price and in this day of age.
excellent
Merry Christmas
In Australia the car distance is referred to as "K's"
So 20,000 Ks
the Ioniq 5N gives me hope for the electric future.
Thanks!
Mery Christmas, and heres to continued f.u.d. fighting from the team next year.
I saw the Li Mega on the road ich china a week ago after I saw your video.
thanks fo the last sow
I’ve just seen VW has re-introduced the beetle can’t wait to see the ev version 😊👍👍
e-C3 still not available in the UK yet Jack. You can order it, but even the left hand drive showroom models have now gone back to France. Hopefully early January 🤷♂️
Please can we have a video on why electricity prices are expensive in the uk given the high proportion of renewables (which are supposed to be cheaper) and whether this will change in the future.
That situation isn't only in the UK. Check out Brett Christophers' book The Price Is Wrong to get the low down on why this is occurring.
That’s hilarious Imogen. After 50 years of navigating the world in aircraft, boats and cars, I still have to do a quick ‘Never eat Shredded Wheat’ too. It must be a sign of intelligence!
Merry Crimble & HNY, folks.
Thanks peeps, happy crimbo back at ya
All the best for the team, Christmas days like to take a bit of rest right? See your families as on the road you all haven't seen them much I guess.
Hope to see the Fully Charged Show back in Amsterdam in some future?
Careful with fireworks, like to see the whole team in one piece next year 🤣
Godalming, Barcelona, I used to live there and I am sure it was in the south of England in those days. Or did I miss something.
15:20 'kilometrage' (pronounce it slightly french) yes it's a thing (i won't bore you with the polish spelling but that's how I remember it being spoken)
They may need to call the Dacia without the heater the Late Spring or perhaps the Dacia Summer
Jack has a Goodyear xmas😉
Check out Gavin Shoebridge video about driverless tractor in New Zealand exact same place you are going to. You'll find it in UA-cam with the title "An Electric DRIVERLESS Tractor in New Zealand"
Pretty sure they are affiliated with Gav in some way, Gavin gets an occasional mention on this channel.
Yes, I thought that. They should have just released Gavin's video on their channel to save flying there.
Robert will be in Brisbane anyway, not far away and Imogen doesn't weigh much plus they are very good at saving air miles unlike F1 etc.
@theunknownunknowns256 I think that affiliation is Ecotricity in UK & NZ
Jack was almost attacked by a micro-car 😂
If you want to do more about electric trucks, Fox Brothers in Lancashire have been running electric tipper trucks for delivery of aggregates for about 3 years so it is not new
No wonder why Jack looked wasted, he had 3 of Imogen's chocolate brownies :D
Try the new Dongfeng Nammi Box . . .THAT is en awesome competitor for the sub €25.000 EV's.
I think it is on points better than the ë-C3 Max, but €6.000 cheaper.
The Mercedes dealers in Netherlands sell them in stead of the Smart #1.
It even has a bit of the looks of the Smart. Not as powerful as the Smart, but serious nice EV for €23.400.
Imogen should also review cars from her perspective 👍
All I want for Christmas is... A fully electric MX-5 esque roadster 🙏🙏🙏 MG Cyberster is too big, has silly doors and a silly name 😭
That first turbine was 80 to 100kW but just before it was signed off it was damaged in a hurricane and the project cancelled !
😂👌 that intro
We call the amount of kilometers we get in Canada "mileage." Yes, this is cursed, but there is nothing obviously better that has been adopted. 15:14
Barrie Crampton for Transport Minister.🤨
Regarding the EV trucks thing, in Shenzhen there are many EV construction trucks and garbage trucks worth checking
Jack with a beard… keep that!!
