That is the system. If you give money back one year but need it the next. They never remember that you returned funds last year. All of a sudden you cant get what you really need because you did the right thing in the past. Politicians reviewing budgets are quite frankly, idiots. I had to deal with that for nearly 30 years. I will say I never, ever just wasted the money. We always tried to anticipate the future needs as best we could.
I was in the military. I haven't watched the video, but I read some comments like I usually do on videos I fear could be clickbait. I seen someone say something about government spending at the end of the year. This is what I have to add about this: The amount of FWA(fraud, waste, & abuse) I seen while I was in the Air Force is just, WOW. At the end of the fiscal year, October, any entity that is run on government money, i.e. military, post office, etc..., they get "x amount of dollars." When August and September come along , you'll start hearing the brass(equivalent of civilian supervisors, aka commissioned officer) start talking about "spending all the money before fiscal year ends." See, if your particular office or department wants to get at the very minimum the same amount of government funding as the prior year, then you have to show you still need that much. How do you do that? You have to show that there's $0 of last years money left and you accomplish that by spending it all, on any and everything. It must not be hard to pass audits, at least in the service, because you would be amazed at the sh*t bought in those 2 months. I seen my supervisors buy hammers for $125/ea. before, around 10 of them so each toolbox had a new one. Every single tool in aircraft maintenance is snap-on or blu-point. I understand that because you're working on $50 million + aircraft. You don't wear cutoff shorts to a ballroom dance, right? One year we bought these customized toolboxes brought in to our tool room that were $15,000 a piece. There was 3 of them. Definitely not needed. It made checking out specialized tools for jobs take so much longer. You know the drink machines where the vending machine has a little shelf that goes up to the soda you pressed the button for, i.e. 'D-2'? The soda slides onto the shelf and then the shelf brings it over to the door and drops it and the door slides open for you to grab it? Well, these toolboxes were like that. If you've ever worked in a restaurant like buddy's bbq here in TN, they have these smokers for meat that are these long shelfs and theres around 15 shelfs that u can cycle these smokers through and they just move up and around and down and back up again in the shape of a circle. The toolboxes were like that. It signed the tools out for you and everything. Thats great and all, but id rather write it out on the tool log sheet its quicker and i could grab the tools myself and not enter 'D-12' on a pad and wait for the shelf its on to be brought to the front and thats only after you go thru the toolbox log sheet and find which shelf and number it is to punch into the pad. Took way longer. But cool af to look at and operate. $45k cool? Not at all. Screws for the panels on aircraft cost sometimes $20/ea. 1 SCREW THATS 1/2" long!!!. Depending on which vendor you use it could be more. And 1 panel has over 80 screws. New screws everytime you remove a panel, EVERY SCREW EVERYTIME. Definitely not needed. The vendors that are used I noticed were all ex-military vendors that once worked at my base. So, im sure the buddy system played into the decision to use them and the prices were definitely jacked waaaaay up because of this same reasoning. It's a racket and a cash cow. Its not a secret that when you bid on a government job as a contractor and win the bid that its common knowledge that you start tacking on sh*t immediately because they will pay because it's not like its any of their money. Its taxpayer money. Why tf do they care if the hammer was $125, or a toolbox with bells and whistles was $15k? Seriously, the sh*ts outta control and at a tipping point.
Tesla FSD is a very advanced cruise control that works well in ideal conditions, but it's still just Level 2 autonomy. Only Waymo has reached Level 4, and they needed radar to do it.
@@yeahdude7 They needed radar...and tens of thousands of dollar of lidar on each vehicle and billions of dollars to map out each city. When you drive through a cramped up unfamiliar inner city on a rainy night with pedestrians everywhere and poor visibility without needing to intervene you become convinced that radar isn't needed. That's exactly what happened to me. Tesla is getting incredibly close to unsupervised FSD and the rate of advancement is rapidly increasing. If you haven't driven a Tesla with V12 or V13 you should give it a try.
there is quite a bunch of fsd errors videos like run through red light or driving in the wrong lane, or driving in train lane. I am not sure if it is just that there are so many more fsd cars out there compare to waymo or fsd do make too many mistakes.

He invented some code when he was at Zip2 a long time ago. Since then, what has he invented? Really? Elon Musk is a businessman, not an inventor. i dont think you know what exponentially means (or more likely you just use it leisurely without thinking about what it means). data from the brain would give linear increase. it would give exponential increase if you could feed back input (from the brain), processed by Ai, back into the brain to then see how it processes it to learn more about the brain, therefore being able to get more input from it and so on, but even then it would come with deminishing returns and flatten out very fast, no longer being exponential besides its starting phase.

The "spend your whole budget" wouldn't be as much of a problem if the Spending bills were passed BEFORE the start of the FIscal Year. We plan to start a program in Oct, but are PROHIBITED to do so during the continuing resolutions. We wait around until the random time the bill IS passed/signed then we are behind on our spending plan. As such we often have unspent annual funds because we only had 9 mo or less to actually do work.. There is little ability, because the way the funds are segmented, to recover from the ANNUAL game of guessing when the budget is signed. IMO, if Congress' funding was cut off until the last spending bill is signed (not just salaries, but expense accounts and funding for staff), they might be motivated to complete on time.
I've been waiting for an interview with Elon for so long, after Trump's presidential election, he disappeared from the information field somewhere, and this interview greatly encouraged and filled me with optimism.
I served in the U.S. Army, with my last duty as a general’s aide. The “use it or lose it” budget mentality is real-everyone operated that way. Glad to see Elon stepping up to make an impact!
Comment about Elon's comment about the regulation to support (as an example) "Red-legged frogs" resulting in a lack of firebreaks. Since the fires those "frogs" are all dead anyway so the regulation was self-defeating.
Not that I disagree, but there are many more firebreak locations than where the fires actually are. Meaning it's not as simple as a complete nullification. And many frogs bury themselves in mud and survive surface fires. CA has problems, but those problems are only 0.01% of the land area compared to the 100% viewing of those 0.01% problems on national news feeds. Something that explains the nature of their administration. Though I have to say, they need to focus on the humans a tad more.
Musk is so ahead of the curve on most things. The answer of AI will do anything you want and suggest things you have not thought of it so simple but also absolutely wild.
If you're Optimus, you don't need a "city". Just a thick sunshade. I bet a couple will be on the first landing Starship to unload it and erect stuff. I hope they're dustproof.
On humanoid robots Elon gave a great answer to a question in a town hall in PA before the win of Trump when asked what he could do for ASD sufferers. Take aside that I have early papers in AI and ran an AI capability and we are a broad church on AI ideas etc. I loved the answer Elon gave that a humanoid robot friend could help the ASD sufferer. My son has ASD and I have sensed for 20 years or so that the biggest problem is not the issue of jobs (as the person who had asked him the question suggested), empathy or anything like that but it is the issue of making friends. Many ASD regardless of how nice they are (like my son) have trouble with the issue of friendships so I loved Elon's answer. It is so good to have such a capable guy involved in the media and discourse!
Elon is so freaking intelligent! Probably too intelligent for the most of humanity. The Jetsons definitely on my mind! I think he said something similar about how he was going to be producing 20 million vehicles every year. Now it’s robots! Where are the new car gigafactories? Thousands of robots are going to be built where?
He has 6 full years to reach that run rate for vehicles. He may not make it, but I think it will be close. The next gigafactory will be in Mexico. It is delayed due to FSD not being done yet as well as the new battery not being fully optimized. He was very optimistic on those two items, and he has been wrong about the timing for them. He will get there, but it will take a bit longer.
They are currently putting in more lines in Austin for new models and the robot. Berlin still has heaps of construction to go. The semi factory is currently under construction in Nevada and it looks like the robovan will be built there as well. I doubt they will make 20milion cars but I could see them getting to 10 million. Trueeee
i dont think you know what exponentially means (or more likely you just use it leisurely without thinking about what it means). data from the brain would give linear increase.
it would give exponential increase if you could feed back input (from the brain), processed by Ai, back into the brain to then see how it processes it to learn more about the brain, therefore being able to get more input from it and so on, but even then it would come with deminishing returns and flatten out very fast, no longer being exponential besides its starting phase.

8. watched all the places around earth they wanted to see before they die? seen a jungle? seen a pyramid? seen the grand canyon? seen a cliff-side in a storm with 10 meter high waves?
9. written their own book? drawn their own manga/ manwha/ manhua/ webtoon etc.?
10. had time to find a partner that fit to them, not a partner that happens to be near in the local and practical vicinity (same town, same job) and Not 100% offputting. someone who shares the same hobbies and interests/ worldview, etc. ; same with friends. we cope so much in our lifes because it would be time-inefficient to do/ want / expect anything more than we do.
11. have you tried out VR? have you build everything you could think of in minecraft? have you made your own modpack in skyrim and fully played through it? with friends that also had time - not just once every 3 weekeneds but now always- ?
12. did you have time to have multiple pets and sufficiently care for them? dog, aquarium, birds? maybe chicken and cows to supply your own food to some degree? cared for your garden? planted some pretty flowers and trees, strcutured it, made some high seedbets for e.g. strawberries and other stuff you can grow yourself?
and after all the things you can CREATE, with AI there are innumerable things you can CONSUME. if produced by other humans with more freetime ^^ or by AI itself, or by YOU + AI, there will be more content (movies, books, series, manga, etc.) produced than you can consume.
sry but its ALREADY a YOU-problem if you are bored in your life, with so many things to do, you have to be incompetent to not find any. and with AI those (if done right and not like in a world where capitalism is kept alive artficially) would only increase. if we can upload our brains (neural networks) we could even set out for longtime travels to other solar systems/ planets and colonize them, eventually terraform them, etc. like if we get life to become digital, "cryosleep" is gonna be so easy. just enter the spaceship, go into "standby"- mode and wake up on arrival in 200.000 years. with some routine wakeups (and alarm wakeups in case smth happens) inbetween to keep everything in order.

Can someone tell me the time stamp where he says „we will 100x“ as the header image of this video implies? Thank you.
I love Elon Musk! Gosh the man (alien?😀) is so smart!
This was a particularly amicable interview, and I appreciate Mark's success in previously balancing the budget under President Clinton. We don't want to discount endangered species as we improve fire and water management in LA, as they play a more fundamental role in biodiverse life support than we sometimes realize. Furthermore, I'd like to see more sustainable server farms as we scale AI, including clean cooling options like ground-source.
Hey Robot fix my car ............
Fix my roof, reside my house, trim the trees and cut the grass then walk the dog and make my dinner after you go food shopping. Don't forget to wash and wax the car. Then go to the auto dealer and make a deal with the human salesman, hahaha!!!
Yeah an put my mechanic out of a job
Elon could be wrong about that human species will be safer with mars being self sustainable. We may fall into complacency and not working to improve the likelihood of this planet when in the back of our head thinking there’s always mars to fall back to.
like war between earth and mars
The original book of enders game had a major subplot which predicted social media that was cut from the movie version. Predicted the influence that it would have on politics and public opinion. In the book characters use social media to manipulate public opinion.
15:00 👀 what.. no inflation!? Hells yah
Gonna have to be one hell of a firebreak to keep embers at bay that are riding on gale force winds
I recently saw hidden photos of the Tesla Model Y Juniper, and I didn't really like it, and I was very upset because I thought Elon had lost his taste and released a bad model, but a few hours later, Tesla officially unveiled the Juniper on a website in China, and I was glad that the Tesla turned out beautifully. It is modern and has strengthened my opinion of Ilona as an excellent entrepreneur and innovator and an understanding taste.
Remember what Jello Biafra said on the early 80s, don't complain about the media, BECOME THE MEDIA.
