    This week we are working on our head, the bathroom in our sailboat. And we're trying out some ideas to make it our home on the open seas. But there's a lot of things we don't know about this part of the build. Therefore we're going to have to test out our ideas and see what happens!

    Hope you liked the video this week! When building a boat, you really need to get creative and think outside of the box. No matter how much we do research or get advice, there's always another challenge around the corner. This was fun and all, but we're glad that Sergio has joined the team and we're not on our own anymore. As you can see, we've gained so much appreciation for him!! Let us know what you think of the work so far! And if you want to support our channel and our boat project, visit us on www.patreon.com/lahakai where we share exclusive updates and details about what we are doing. Hope to see you there! Cheers

    Delighted you got the laptop fixed, im sure that was huge for the mental state of you both, and the boat is really taking shape. So many odd corners to fit things into must be mad, and madening all rolled into one 😂😂 its going to be so worth it later..more power to your elbows 💪🏻👊🏻

    You're knocking that head out of the park - I know, that sounds weird.
    I love the stand you've made for the toilet. really nice, aesthetically.
    Great work on the shower floor too. Does it rest on the hull below or is there space below it? If there is space, will it take the weight of a person when finished?
    BTW, it's nice to have you back weekly and I'm glad your laptop is fixed.

    Could you have the shower seat simply fold against the left wall as you face the toilet? No fancy sliding latches that way.

    You MUST always backup your data to MULTIPLE devices/hard drives. All computers die at some time, but the data can very easily be restored if you have it backed up. A VERY large drive for historical storage (everything ever saved and none of it overwritten), then at least two (or more) drives for the latest data! Burn to DVDs as well .

    Seems overly complex to me. I would be happy to leave the head uncovered, even to take a shower. However, it is still interesting to see how you get where you want to go. Full disclosure: I don't see live aboard in our future..... at least not in the boat we have now.

    Nice video I was thinking the same as someone else said you have a toilet seat but that is for you to decide good work though what happened to Sergio this week hope the computer wasn't too dear 😊😊

    • @lahakai
      @lahakai  7 місяців тому

      Thanks!! This was a flashback to the work that was stuck on our computer before Sergio. For the toilet seat, the marine toilets are much small thank your average household toilet so it might be uncomfortable to sit a while on the seat, especially for a big guy like Luke. But it's more of a safety factor. A stable wood seat would be less likely to break than the hinges of a toilet seat. Cheers Kevin!

    Are you also fiberglassing the entire bathroom walls? No need to go back later and rebuild it due to encroachment.

    • @lahakai
      @lahakai  7 місяців тому +1

      We will be fiberglassing the complex parts and the large flat areas like the walls we will be using a special lining to waterproof them. We'll talk about that soon as the product is made in Brazil but probably has an international equivalent.

    That spot for the toilet brush was perfect to keep your toilet paper so it doesn't get wet. Also how are guys waterproofing all this wood because the wood will swell with moisture!!! Look into aluminium composite panel as it is light,strong and most importantly it's waterproof

    • @lahakai
      @lahakai  7 місяців тому +1

      There's a good idea! We can do that for the time being. Later we want one of those Oceanair marine dryroll dispensers, but they don't sell it here in Brazil so we'll have to wait.
      Good call on the aluminum composite. We will be waterproofing the whole wet area and we were considering that but found a product they make here that is also a panel but also works well with fiberglass. We'll be showing that later - must be an equivalent internationally but we dont know what it is. Cheers!

    There is a seat. Why not sitting on the toilet while showering?

    • @lahakai
      @lahakai  7 місяців тому

      The marine toilets are much smaller than your regular toilet, so not sure how comfortable that would be. But it's more of a safety factor, a wood seat would be more stable than depending on a toilet seat (which always seems to be broken at home, can't imagine in a boat)
