If it is a fungal infection you might want to move them where they get good ventilation, good sunlight and avoid getting water in the crown or stem. If water enters stem or crown then try to remove as much as you can. If the infection is causing rot use dried cinnamon powder(just cinnamon) and apply to affected area because cinnamon has anti-fungal properties and can dry up areas to prevent infections on orchids.
.....you have such a beautiful garden, your Vandas will love the Calcium, they are heavy Ca feeders, and when low .....the cell structure cant resist fungal, pests etc.....feed them low amounts all the time...1/2 what the package says......jmo......
just going "back in time" & catching up on some of your informative videos :) Thankfully, haven't had any issues with Fungus.. suppose our Hot Weather has helped that. Currently feeding my Vandas: Fish Emulsion, Liquid Kelp, Miracle Grow, Blossom Booster, Cal-Mag and Super Thrive... Alternating every-other day... Getting Nice root growth from all the stimulants has been a priority over flowers this year. So far so good :)
Good step in the right direction. Thanks for sharing and good luck! Just as an FYI: Do not apply any fungicide treatment when you fertilize your vandas. It's always safer to proceed separately (either you fertilize, or use a preventative treatment - never both the same day).
Thierry Laflamme Hi! Thank you so much for the tip! I am applying the fungicides by themselves the day I do. I have been alternating and doing fungal treatment every week until the fungus gets better :( I fertilize once a week also but not the same day. Thank you for the good wishes hopefully my vandas will get better soon.
Fantastic! I am sure most of them will recover; it's just a matter of time (especially in your tropical environment). Under good care, they will thrive! ☺
Very informative video on an issue I don't pay enough attention to....fungus infections...was very helpful as I'm just getting ready to use a fungicide I bought on Amazon that attaches to the hose. Good luck on your battle! Look forward to the follow up!
So.... totally unrelated to your orchids but I couldn't help but notice how lush and green your grass is. Jealous. Mine looks like a blotchy mess and we use a professional lawn care service!
Michael McCarthy thank you Michael!!! To be completely honest with you when we bought our property 14 years ago our grass was horrible! We called True Green and used them for about 1 year and after that our grass looks like this. We do have a sprinkler system that runs every morning but we don’t fertilize it or anything anymore. I guess down in the south all the way out here where I live the soil is rich. I also don’t have city water. We have a well so maybe that helps also 🤔😊 thanks for watching. Have a wonderful Sunday!
Hey Love thank you for your videos they are very informative, I have fungus on my vandas and am afraid of all the fungicides so, I am going to try to treat mine with Physan20. I dont' have to mess around with all those poisons, clumsy me I know I could just reek havoc. Gonna use 1 tablespoon per gallon of water with the Physan20 and hopefully I can get them back to health again. Let me know how it turns out. I have tried to find a video to watch how they mix all those ingredients and the application of it, want to know what they wear to use those pesticides. I have a few vandas high up on coconut tree so I will need a ladder to spray, cause I don't want to get it on me. Thanks again. Keep the videos coming!
Hi!! Thank you for tuning in!! I’ve started using Physan 20 recently and love it. I Mix it right in with the fertilizer. 1 teaspoon per gallon of water. Like that it’s not as strong as the thyomil. I always try to wear gloves and now that I have masks I put them on also 😀 good luck with the fungus. It’s rainy season here so I use Physan 20 often.
@@blancasorchidgarden Hi again, so I just started to follow your plan to grow healthy orchids/vandas, I have a question how did your plan work with the formula you gave us? Curious? Just afraid that too much fetilizer might burn my orchids. Let me know. Thanks.
@@evelynbravo-sanchez1920 hi my current videos have my new regimen not sure which one you’re asking about. Lots has changed since this video.. my new videos will have so much more information
How strong is the spray from the hose sprayer you use? I mounted some orchids pretty high up in an oak tree and need a fertilizer sprayer to reach them. The one I bought has a weak stream, I need something that can reach up ~14 ft.
Michael McCarthy Wow, that’s way up there. But no worries the sprayer I use is very powerful! Definitely more than 14 feet. Amazon has it for a little over $9.
Hi Blanca, so here I am looking for information before all this crazy rain affect my orchids and I found this 2 yrs old video... you mix thiomyl, captan and orthene all together once a month as prevention right? Can I do the same on all my collection or is this just for vandas?
Niury Simo yes! All together. Lighter on the rest of the orchids. This was recommended by OFE if you are local confirm with them. It’s been a while I do this concoction
Kimberly DeSouza it’s one of the downsides of growing your Vandas outdoors. Could of been all the humidity they get. The cause is really unknown but it’s mostly due to moisture..

Whats the difference between the fungicides? Why two? And which ones are they

What store did you take your vandas too? Where do you buy your supplies?
Doing a lovely job 🌺🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
It's been 7 months now and I am wondering how your problem vandas have done? I am getting ready to start your routine on mine.
sheilamquinn they have improved tremendously. Lost have given me blooms since then. 😊🌸

@@blancasorchidgarden thank you for responding. So 1/2 of each on the rest will work fine I guess.
Sellers don’t tell you about fungus and spray regimens
Do you have any problems with snails or slugs and how do you treat?
Athaliah Reynolds-Baker No snails or Slugs. I had grasshoppers a few years ago but sprayed them and they never returned 😊
Ok
Hi I’m confused about the fertilizing routine
Need to know 15 days routine may be I will understand. Love your all tips
Flowers aren’t always an indication that the orchid is healthy
Do you know what caused the fungal infection on your Vandas?
Kimberly DeSouza it’s one of the downsides of growing your Vandas outdoors. Could of been all the humidity they get. The cause is really unknown but it’s mostly due to moisture..
Kimberly DeSouza some articles also say low temperatures... 🤔
