3.6 dropped and there is no Light Linking in the Shading tab... but there is "Light Groups"... so the light linking was only part of a branch build of Blender. Perhaps 3.6.1 will have it.

I sit with the same thing there is indeed in 3.6 only groups for Light Linking! So with 4.0, it will be a very long wait, I think beginning of 2024?
I removed 3.6 already and went back to 3.5.
To be honest, I was hyped that it was coming to 3.6.

@@fennafenn Yep - even in the 90's when I was doing 3D with Maya and Softimage, 3dMax it all had light linking.

@@jasonnehceis3267 I started using Cinema 4D R15 in 2013 and back then Light Llinking was already in it!
I also used Maya back then as well.

Do you happen to know how to get a light or emissive object to cast a light onto a shadow catcher? Currently im only able to cast a shadow onto the shadow catcher… Ive tried changing settings in both the lights and emissives, as well as the shadow catcher itself but to no avail. It still only chatches the shadow. I need it to pick up the light as well. Ideas?

That's right, you can include/exclude any object from certain light source.

hmmm, I have the latest 3.6 RC installed but there is only Light Group listed in the Shading section. No Light Linking. Anyone know what the problem might be?

The 3.6v is still in Release Candidate and not 100% sure they will include the light linking in its official release. Same with blender 4 which still in Alpha while the latest official blender version is 3.51
Alpha → Beta → Release Candidate → Official Release
