How to Defend Strikes & Set-up Submissions with the Guard
The use of strong defensive frames and body structure is imperative for good Jiu-Jitsu and the same applies for self-defense or MMA scenarios. Controlling the inside position and setting up strong body position allows you to be defensively responsible and will keep you safe against any striking technique.
Using the inside position in combination with proper angles allows for defensive as well as offensive capabilities. Never forget that Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art first and foremost and it’s our defensive capabilities that keep us alive and safe so that we can then attack.

At 1:16 couldn’t the opponent push your legs off to the side and go to side control? If not please tell me how to defend against that because it has been a burning question in my head all day.
In theory, in any kind of open guard (no-gi) the top player can just push your legs off and go into side control. This is a part of guard retention. Knowing when to expand and contract is an essential part of grappling/retaining guard. I cover this in my instructional that I’ll be releasing soon. Thank you for your question/comment.
No untrained attacker will even consider that, the just want to punch the head, thats virtually all that happens in a street assault.
Excelente, lo compartiré con mis hijas para su defensa personal
💪💪💪
It's great to see people training and working techniques, but street fighting is a dangerous game and should be avoided, look at the Taxman program on Macintyre as a good example.
Hey, Kenny! Do u have Romanian origins?
Does it work against 250 pound robots too?
😂 might be painful
