We live right beside the Medieval Castle in Obidos and it also does an incredible job with its Medieval Fair. We absolutely adore the mixture of ancient history and modern life combined. Glad to see you had fun in the Algarve. Hopefully you are having a much easier time finding a place to call home.

I would choose the Algarve to live in as you like the sea. It has a warm climate and it is sunny all the year round. You can find nice places in Tavira and Vila Real de Santo Antonio, very close to Spain. If you have an extra income it would be wonderful, pay attention to all the details if you are into buying a property, be careful with very isolated places and try not buy a ruin it will take a lot of money to renovate. I left the Algarve in 1981. Your video remind me that winter is the time to be there and surely Easter time and June as well as September! July / August is a blackout period. The medieval festival is a must in Óbidos and I guess that is the same company. Really nice I feel I am the tourist now!

Agreed! Avoid the Algarve in the summer months. I'm sure when Brittany & Drew are in the Algarve in the Fall/Winter they'll realize the difference. I love the Western Algarve & Alentejo in the winter.

You've made my Sunday with this video! I'm so impressed with everything I saw (well, except for the gigantic snake?)! The Algarve is spectacular. The trails on the hillside reminded me a bit of Torrey Pines in San Diego. But that coast line and rock formations, the color of the water, breathtaking. Thank you again for your talents!

Oh my what a wonderful festival!! So many different foods to try and watch as they make them! The beaches were amazing but too crowded for me. I imagined the water being warm, was it? What a wonderful video. Thank you!!
The culture and festivals are truly one of a kind. The water is a bit chilly but very welcomed on these hot days.

Between mid June to mid September, the locals & foreigners head to the Algarve..
The Algarve has 200 kms of coast, I'm sure you can find a spot not too packed.

The one thing I regret is not learning how to swim. I was raised in Brooklyn, NY, so unless we were members of a YMCA, there was very little chance to learn how to swim. I love that you both enjoy water activities.
Oh & the storks!!! I’ve never seen so many & in Rasmalho there is an entire field of their nests 🪹 so huge! I made a video hiking up on the side of a mountain watching the sunset as they all swarmed in for their “happy hour!” 😂

Regarding the seaweed, the South of Portugal & Spain have been infested by an Asian algae lately.
It's very invasive type of algae, so don't be surprised if you see many on the beach this year.

it´s not medical, it´s medieval festival, and they take place all over Portugal. Places like : Vila da Feira, Aljubarrota, Óbidos are just a few examples, besides this one. In Portugal we are very found of our history and culture and try to preserve it the best we can.

What Brittany ate is called "meringue" in French. In fact, it is a sort of cake/crisp. Easy to make yourself. It's a cooked mixture of sugar and white of eggs.😋😋

If you pass via Aljezur I have a spare room in a lovely old farmhouse in a quiet valley 5 mins from the town or plenty of room on the land to park a campervan! I do a lot of ocean swimming and body surfing here and there's a great gluten free pizzeria! I've been watching your channel for the past few years and it would be lovely to say hi if you are in the area. Enjoy your travels and house searching.

What do you prefer: The emty beaches of Bajo or the crowded beaches of the Algarve?
Great question... both have their pro's and con's, there's something magical about the energy of both. But I can say that we do feel more confident and comfortable purchasing property in Portugal. Just an intuitive feeling of reassurance I think.

The best place for opportunities is Lisbon, for a cleaned, well organized public investment placed are Madeira and Porto. 🇵🇹🇪🇺

It's really beautiful and I plan to get to Algarve soon (I was in Portugal by camper last week but did only the coast from nord to Nazare')
But on a negative note, I personally think is a bit sad that an once peaceful and wild place is now so crowded of tourists, in that kind of environment I find hard to believe that traditions will be carried on and overall nature elements will be respected properly...hope I'm wrong
And I'm saying that as a sup instructor and digital nomad, since this is totally one of the places where I'm looking for move :)

So funny! I’ve been here since Tuesday in nearby Rasmalho. I do love Silves! Spent some time in Portimão & Carvoeiro so far. Exploring if this is where I want to be but I feel I may head North as much as I love being here near the sea. 😊
Oh & apparently my flight had been delayed because of a hurricane which you rarely hear of in the US. All that seaweed washing up on shore & yesterday in Carvoeiro they were trucking it out.
There has been a rare hurricane cruising across the Atlantic up near the coast of PT dumping a lot of rain.
