i'm sitting here watching this AMAZINGLY helpful video and realizing there's no corny music or fancy editing to make me feel like I am living your life with you, there's no fancy catchy intro, no logo. There's just no wasted effort, no wasted breath, no wasted anything. It's just purely helpful, and when I realized that, that is when I knew that you had less than 10k subscribers. Lo and behold LOL.... ppl don't generally want to learn from youtubers, they want to live vicariously through them. I want to learn. Therefore, SUBSCRIBED
Love this 👌🏽
Glad it helped 🙂
I think I caught 2 items you should change- change out fuel line for the white stiffer version, and, reverse the direction of the fuel filter. Thanks for posting your clear video.
I agree, I only came to the comments to find out anyone else had noticed that the pump is pushing uphill away from the tank.
You mean the pump should be under in order for it not to struggle while pumping gas, right ? :)
@@dellawrence4323 No, the fuel pump MUST be pointing up (at least 15°, ideally 45°, up to 90° (vertical, perpendicular to floor)! The pump has an air/bubble elimination feature which requires that orientation!
I don't think I really understand what you mean about not having it pump "away" from the fuel; I can't imagine how or why you would set it up in any other way...
Didn't help with my issue, my fuel tank came with no hole for the fuel nipple.
How do I sort that?
My top tips would be:
Use a metal pipe for the intake pipe too. Mine came with a carboardy foily one and it perished after a year and the whole heater had to come out to replace it.
Put some shielding around the fuel pipe near the exhaust so it doesn't melt from the heat of the exhaust.
great tip .do you think you'd need some kind of meta flexi pipe ? re screw fix .thanks Michael
Good video , a few points I was told by a mechanic was that it's best to prime the fuel pump and line to the pump before starting to lubricate it otherwise it is running dry until it eventually sucks fuel through which could shorten its life , the exhaust silencer should be mounted vertically with the drain hole it has at the bottom and positioned so the exhaust gas is not existing under the van and the exhaust has a slight downward fall along its length so no water traps .
And finally get yourself a Co2 alarm just to be on the safe side.
I agree as there self lubricating fuel pumps..
The idea of the pump been lower than the fuel tank is that once its primed it will never need to do it again unless you totally run out of ⛽️ fuel
That would be true if it were a gear or vane pump, but these little "click-clack" solenoid pumps can run dry for a very long time without damage. I would still prime up the pump before hooking up the fuel line to the heater just because it will prime a lot faster with an open line.
@@MrHercules222 how do you prime the pump before starting the hole sistem?
At 4:14 You should of placed a rubber grommet between the fuel pipe and the drilled hole in the metal floor. great vid though. Thanks
Done the same On my first install , reminded myself all morning not to forget the grommet ... So i fitted the heater , uploaded the video and realised i forgot the grommet 🙈😂
On there now , Cheers pal 👍👍
Shit just read this as I added mine :) LOL
😂😂😂👍
Great video friend,No unexpected things we dont need to know about,Straight to the job and done it greatly,Thank you 👍✌
Thank mate 👍
The best video I saw until now. Short and Simple. Thanks a lot for your time and a big thumbs up from Germany 🇩🇪.
This is such a good video, super clear and easy to follow. Plus Tommy responding to the comments and updating us on adjustments is REALLY helpful! I ordered the exact same heater so I could follow along to your instruction....the power of advertising 🤣 really glad I found this vid. Thanks again
Thank you .
Glad it helped 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
@@LT_TOMMY_ well I've not fitted it yet but feeling way more confident than I would be if it wasnt for this 💃🏻
Once again, brilliant mate. No nonsense, no bullshit, clear and concise....which is good for us first-timers!🤣🤣👍👍👍
Awsome Tommy, thanks for posting. Gave me confidence to install mine and it's a total game changer for me and the family in our off grid static!
Glad it helped mate 👍👍👍
hey, thanks for your help. thanks to you ive fitted a diesel heater in my van and its working well, not the exact same as this but very similiar, even bought the turret playe you advised. thanks for making it so straight forward its just the help i needed
No problem mate, glad the video helped 👍
Appreciate this video. The instructions came in English but don’t always make sense. Thanks for posting.
It won't be long before you move the fuel pump to another position.
That ply panel will act like a sounding board and amplify the pump tick tick noise.
Move it below floor level and fix it to a chassis rail with as much rubber buffering as you can manage.
Already hanging with cable ties 20 mins after the video lol 😂👍
@@LT_TOMMY_ So the pump can survive and work well in outside temperatures (both the cold of winter, and the heat coming off the engine components)? Now that it's outside, how is the noise level overall? Thanks!
@@kriegsmandot1 Hello mate , I haven't put mine outside, mine is inside but hanging with cable ties which makes it almost silent, lots of people do put there's outside and have no problems 👍
Hello. Got one of those heaters for my Defender as a Christmas prezzie from the wife. thanks for the upload.
The one thing I *REALLY* dislike is the lack of a grommet for the fuel line. I need to find some for mine so I don't have to worry about fuel leaks...
Thank you so much for this video! It is the most in depth one I have seen and doesn't cut all the way to the end! You are the man.
Glad it helped 👍🏼
That pump sounds amazing. I bet you cant wait to hear that thumping at 2am when you go to reset your 12v electric blanket.
Great video, Thanks!
Not sure if this has been mentioned but the fuel filter is installed backwards. If you turn it around you will have a greater surface area to collect debris. The way it is installed now only yields the smaller surface area of the inside of the element to unfiltered fuel. This is why filters are directional. This is more important on a pleated filter than a mesh one, however installed correctly there will be a larger area for debris to collect and will yield longer intervals between filter change being required.
truly sad the chinese cant put a direction arrow into the plastic mold ;-(
Great! No bull video and extremely helpful.
Mine has turned up today! I have a vauxhall vivaro the unit is going under the passenger seat (plenty of room) as I still have the bulk head it will reduce noise into the back and I can pop the heat vent thru a hole in the bulk head. Fuel pump going under the van in a water proof box (noise) so fingers crossed! Fuel tank not to sure yet. Really handy to refure back to your video 👍🏁
Do you think it's possible to drop the hose into the main vehicle fuel tank? I'm not that enthused by having to top up a separate tank regularly, or have that fuel floating around in the living quarters.
Brilliant video mate, just the obvious lack of protection on the chineesium fuel line ✌👌
I'm converting my crafter to. This was helpful before I fit mine tomorrow. Don't think my content will be as good as this
I'm sure it will 👍🏼
Any issues just ask.
Fantastic explanation. Just bought the same heater. Installing it in my vintage Caravan/Trailer tomorrow.
Thanks , glad it helped
@@LT_TOMMY_ It certainly did: Just finished today: ua-cam.com/video/vEaVBaYtZEg/v-deo.html #VintageTrailer
only just discovered these,,,and your install vid brill ..no fluff just do the job..thinking of making it a portable unit for site work 🤔👍
Me too. Definetly in cold attics doing air condition work
I wasn't certain that I would watch this till I heard you say I'll file that to clean it up and paint it. I really like that the plate had that round section, it gave me the idea to put it on mine if it does not have it, I'm putting mine in my caravan which has a ply/foam/ply floor. Great stuff.
Hello mate , yes the turret plate is great to use , only £19 on ebay at the time.
They don't usually come with that type of turret plate , it's normally a flat plate.
Thanks for watching 👍👍👍
Good idea to hang the pump with zip ties. The muffler should be rotated 90 degrees with the weep hole down. Thanks
Thanks for making this video and sharing. I just ordered this same unit and was afraid the instructions are going to be terrible so this is all I need! I’m going to be using it to heat my roof top tent in Moab, Utah in a couple of weeks from now.
Just translate the English back into Chinese and it makes perfect sense.
@@lollerskates1992 Tried that but just ended up challenging a cool dude in flares with the mother of all Afro's, to fight my ancestors.
So how much is it costing to run ,say 10 hrs a day
This is very helpful, but I am surprised at how noisy it is. Imagine switching that on in the middle of the night - I’d never get back to sleep!
Truck House Life does a really good install video of a webasto heater..
Well done great video. Helping lots of people i think.
Thanks for the informative video Tommy. You remind me soooo much of David Brent. I chuckled throughout the video. Nice one.
David Brent , Really 😂😂😂
5 out of 4 people have trouble with fractions... thanks for the advise I want to ditch the buddy for my tent.Watching from the n.w. corner of Oregon
Very interesting ordered it for my cabin at my Dufour 31 feet (sailboat)! Your video helps :)!
Really helpful mate
Thanks so much!
You should change to hard fuel line to make the pump more efficient.
You need to change the place for the fuel pump to reduce clicking noise, wood is a big noise amplifier!
Great video, thanks ;-)
I’m looking to install one of these on my camper and wanted to install it outside. Do you think it could bother the camping neighbors? Is it too loud? Is it better inside the camper? I don’t have much room this is the reason to put it outside.
You can use red diesel for heating.
Yes.
That sound will drive me nuts
Hahaha for sure , 20 mins after recording I hung the pump with cable ties , it's now almost silent 👍
well tommy what can i say nice one mate from start to finish an install of something its what all us newbies need to see while we are doing are own campers spot on mate thanks its moved me forward in my plans to do mine i just need a start to finish install of in wires around my van for 4 spot lights usb and a fridge not planning on living in the van just a week here and there but spot on :)
Your welcome mate , glad it helped , ive also made a 12v wiring video if it helps 👇

Excellent video mate. Best on UA-cam.
Thank you mate, glad it helped 👍🏼
mint, thanks for the videos those guys should link your vids as manuals! very helpful
Cheers pal , glad it helped 👍 👍👍
That pump would drive me crazy.
It was placed there for the sake of the video mate, I usually hang the pump with cable ties so it's almost silent 👍👍
Great vid thanks been freezing my arse off for years in my T25 was worried about it coz its petrol. This is perfect 👌
Ps whats it called I'm going for it 👍
Just put diesel heater in to ebay etc
Cheers 👍👍👍
Thanks for this Mr, lots of help as just got the same.
Thank you
Awesome instructions. Slight nitpick: from 4:45 onwards you mention the angle of the pump needing to be at 90 degrees, whist demonstrating it at 30-45 degrees.
Glad it helped mate , I'm very aware of the pump angle confusion from the first minute I uploaded the video 😂😂😂👍
excellent video , really explain it well 😀
Glad it helped 👍🏼
that line through the floor for diesel should have a rubber grommet around it
Yep, made the same mistake on my first install , promised myself i wouldn't do it whilst recording this one 🤦♂️😂😂😂
Got one now 👍👍👍
You have the filter facing in the wrong direction.
Decent video. Only just seen your page. I like your videos, straight to the point no bullshit. Right up my street and very helpful as im new to all this. Great job mate. Keep doing what youre doing.
Thank you mate , much appreciated, glad i could help .
Im no expert but just gis a shout if you need any help/advice etc 👍👍
Very Nice video.. I just recieved it . And the video gave me so many answers 👍👍👍
Glad it helped mate 👍🏼
Think I would of raised heater to avoid fuel pipe having to to be fed outside and back in, good job
Many thanks. Not seen anyone else mention this but I assume that when you say that the angle for the fuel pump should be 90 degrees, you actually mean 45 degrees. Cheers.
Cracking vlog buddy thanks for sharing!
Glad it helped mate 👍
Thanks for the great feedback all, glad it helped 👍
As soon as i finished recording i hung the pump with zip ties ,its now almost silent...I'm very aware that i got the 45 degrees angle mixed up with 90 degrees...
And the grommet is in 👍😂
Hey Tommy, thanks for this. Are you saying instead of securing it to the wall the fuel pump is now suspended with zip ties and not knocking against anything? Cheers - Ed
@@ejdugan Exactly that mate 👍👍👍
Hang it off a rubber inner tube.
I’m looking to install one of these on my camper and wanted to install it outside. Do you think it could bother the camping neighbors? Is it too loud? Is it better inside the camper? I don’t have much room this is the reason to put it outside.
You can get the all in one, self contained version that you can stand outside and I don’t think it is noisy enough to bother anyone nearby. Search up a guy called Keith Gee - he has a vid about doing just that on the outside of his truck camper.
Is it me or is the pump loud?
Great vid. I just bought one after realising they cost £90 off ebay when i thought they were like 200 😂 I have to try and find space for it all tho as my build is finished, pretty daunting 😬
Thanks 👍👍
A lot of people are building them in portable boxes and just running the heater vent in to the van , possible option if you have no room 👍
the pump is very quite! i love it!
Ive had issues with the pump been higher than the unit . The pump creates miniture air bublels and they turn into one bid air bubble in the line . And ultimately stops the unit . The fuel tank can be up high though that doesn't matter .. just the outlet of pump lower than the unit so it pumps up to the unit. And now I'm watching those very tiney bublels just go up to the unit up the green hose that was supplied with it . It doesn't stop running now . No big air locks.
Thanks for the video, helps me with the install I will be doing next weekend.
Cheers mate , just take your time , will be fine 👍👍👍👍
Dude I’ll be following ur video nice n simple :) how did u connect the power
Awesome! now i know how to find the temp on mine :) cheers Tommy
Glad i could help brother
I’m installing one of these soon. You sure made quick work of the hole-cutting. I just need a drill and a hole cutter made for cutting metal? I’ve used them on wood before but I’m nervous about cutting metal and hope I can find the right tool for the job without much fuss.
Let me finish work and I'll try and find all the links to the tools used for you mate , they will be toolstation links , are you in the uk?

Thanks for sharing, may tell us HOW YOU CONNECT THE HOSE to FUEL TANK ? there is no hole .
Hi
Here's a video to fit the stand pipe, did you have one supplied with your kit ?
ua-cam.com/video/7O0o-g0fO-s/v-deo.html
Have you tried mounting the pump onto a rubber cotyon reels to deaden the noise.
you want to change the orientation of the silencer, it has a drip hole for condensation on one side.
I didn't even realise . Cheers pal 👌👍
@@LT_TOMMY_ i only knew because Im installing my heater too hehe
Good timing lol
Its good to share info/advice 👍👍
Great Video clear and easy to follow
Very good video pal!👍
Great instalation, just the ticking sound of pump is anoying. Maybe there are quiter pumps ?
Great video. Simple to the point. Any smell of diesel from the can inside the van ? Thank you inadvance for replying.
Absolutely no smell of diesel mate 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Lovely stuff. Thanks.
Thanks for the upload. Really useful 👍
Thanks. Got me keen to put one in my T4
Its as simple as that mate 👍👍👍
I have a 2016 Transit Connect which looks about the same size as your van, but I bought a 2KW heater - with no insulation (in Arkansas). Should I have bought the 5KW heater? Also, mine didn’t have the big hole flange to go under the heater - do I need one?
Thank you!
Your fuel filter is in the wrong position. It should be mounted in the other direction. (bleu side = pump side) I hope you finaly mounted your exhaust the right way (moisture hole down)
Very well explained, thanks..
Great job...
Fuel pump should aim up so all the air bubbles escape and are not trapped in pump housing also fuel enters filter on outside of inner cup.
He did that
They say 45° for the pump. Suck diesel to just below pump to start. Pool noodle pump to cut noise.
Thanks mate great video
Brilliant video great walkthrough as no instructions with mine as allot of people , just fitted mine the initial start up was smokey lol 😂
Genuine VW Emissions but cleared after about 30seconds
Thanks 👍👍🇬🇧
Thanks , glad it helped mate 👌👍👍
Any videos of how it connects to the battery?
Personally I left 10mm from the bottom of the fuel tank and drilled for the fuel line so any crap in the fuel can sink and not be dragged into the fuel filter.
I would have liked to see how you connected the hose into the fuel tank
ua-cam.com/video/7evwdsOVdeY/v-deo.html
There you go mate , not the greatest video but may help 👍👍👍
@@LT_TOMMY_ that was exactly what I needed, I have the exact same fuel tank as you. thank you very much for the video, it's greatly appreciated.
Glad it helped 👍👍👍
Thanks bruv
Hi Tommy just watched this you explain everything in simple terms which is great for a beginner like me.
Is there anything you can suggest for making the pump quieter I don't think I'd be able to sleep with that clicking sound going in all night.
Cheers
Hi mate , glad the video helped you👍
As soon as i finished recording i hung my pump with cable ties , it's now so quiet , I'll attach a video below of one of my previous installs with the pump hanging 👍
ua-cam.com/video/YxalU1klYoE/v-deo.html
That's awesome. Thanks mate
Glad it helped 👍
Great video, bought one! But don't know how fast I can turn wit the exhaust, I have limited space under the heater
Thanks Tommy, has anyone mentioned grommets?😂😂💯
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 couple million times mate 🤣👍👍
Why have the pump and filter in the vehicle? it would be just as effective under the van and quieter too. I've done a couple of installs of these heaters, one without the tank as I built a custom tank for it with a filler outside on the van body, great install though however rubber grommets are a must for anything going through the body.
Is there an English version of the video as well? Just kidding 😂 (I'm Swiss, so struggled a bit with the accent) great video! I now have more confidence installing the heater on our camper. Cheers!
just about to get one of these , so glad i watched your vid, always good to have a mate who already done it , makes life so much easier , thanks mate , all the best .. :)

Well explained intelligent video. I am just wondering if the 5 KW you used would be OK for my Renault Traffic and not over kill, which brand heater did you use?
Great video and thanks, a quick question, what device did you use at the bottom of the fuel tank to keep the pipe in place and to stop leaks etc. My kit didn't come with anything
Awesome video, thanks for sharing!

Can you tap these into the vehicle fuel tank instead? I don't fancy spilling diesel inside the van filling the tank!
You can mate , loads do it 👍
I just ordered one for my 4runner, sometimes the factory heat just doesn't cut it at -35°c.
