  • The question of what makes a good boss is a good question. However, it is also a very subjective question, the answer to which varies from employee to employee and company to company. People and organizations have different needs for leadership qualities.
Nevertheless, from my point of view there are certain universal core qualities that make good leaders. In this video I show you 5 important, if not the most important, leadership qualities.

The best advice that can be given to any boss is to get in there with your employees once the goal is understood he or she should join in and complete the task together get to know them give them the feeling that you will work right along side them the worst thing you can do is bark out some orders then run off to the office and wait for the results. There's nothing better than knowing that your employees would follow you in to the storm, why? Because they know you will be there right along side them sweating struggling and fighting every step of the way no matter what the job situation is. From restaurants to production lines I've done them all and it works for me it's natural and something I enjoy being a part of. Great video you definitely know what you're talking about thank you

This is great advice! The fact that you put on a wig and a mustache for the employee role was hilarious! Very nice to see you had just as much fun making this video as we did watching it

    Mr. Geropp, well done!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your suggestions, videos, and advice.
Def, you are my inspiration for the beginning of 2022. year.
You are absolutely right for EACH of your videos.
Many managers, leaders are doing micromanaging, and of course, we will be focused to do the same things cause we grew next to them.
It’s so sad when we start a new position as leaders and managers with lots of ideas and passion…. Waiting for the meeting with managers and is coming to huge mistakes because our “bosses” don’t do one a one meetings with us to explain, correct and give suggestion for our developing.
Of course, we will think we are doing the right thing and job.
Please, continue making videos and empowering us!
    Bless you and your family!
    Regards from Serbia.

I agree on most of your your points, but I have been thrown into a highly toxic envoiorment where workers hate management and vice versa. I am trying my best to mitigate the toxicity by working side by side with the employees, however, I feel like I am never going to get through to them. They do not understand that I want to manage by example and take my work for granted. I feel that I must now set an example by firing those I have kept on my radar. is this normal?

If you tried to get them on board and gave them feedback several times and told them very clearly about your expectations, then it might be the right decision to let them go.

I am a manager at McDonald’s, and I’m also the youngest at my restaurant. I feel like no one that hasn’t worked with me before my promotion , and therefore don’t respect me.

Suck it up buttercup. Do your job. Keep moving forward and eat all those low blows and hard punches in life and you’ll become a very successful and strong individual.
I was also a fast food manager with a fake id when I was underage (younger than 18) and best believe I dealt with the same stuff you’re dealing with. I will say this, there’s a reason you’re managing and the people below you are not. You’re different, and your age and position are proof of that.

I very much enjoy your videos but I must say you haven't touched on the complacent employees or the ones resistant to change. If an employee has been with a company for years and I am a new manager, how do I constructively deal with this? I haven't found a video from you on this- the sabotaging employee- not just undermining- but worse

Never been a boss despite getting my degree in business. I've learned one thing. It's not what you know, it's who you know, and I don't know the right people. I don't brown nose or kiss ass.

    No, definitly NO!
What make a good "boss" (hahaha) doesn't depent "from employee to employee and company to company"!
A good "boss" (still laughing) who dos what?
No, that person isn't like a "flag in the wind" (chances his/her behaviour depending on the employee, which is standing in front of him/her) ...
Satements like yours unfortunately to the situation, that there are and will be fewer and fewer real executives in the worldwide economy! There have hardly been any in the German economy since the 1980s! And it's getting worse day by day ...
But if someone really knows about leadership, he/she istn't suitable for a single job in Germany ...
Congratulations for your engament to dismantle, what leadership REALLY means!
