People in general seem to overestimate how many people use Twitter. I have never, nor do I ever intend on using Twitter. I've got enough message boards that I don't need that shite pile of one. Doesn't help that it's main userbase are the type of people who use the internet exclusively through their phones, and only discovered it in the past 5-8 years...
+planescaped Same here. I have absolutely no desire to get involved with Twitter; I'm too antisocial and too busy with my real life to worry about whatever crap people are talking about on there.
This game makes me sad, my brother loves any game that involves the history of federal japan...makes me even sadder he isn't alive to see how wonderful games are now...
Yeah, Honda Tadakatsu's boss gimmick miiiiiiiight have something to do with the popular conceit that he never sustained any injury worse than a scratch during any battle he ever fought.
Actually Kelley is the hollow man and he did die before the events that happened which explains the whole clone thing. Fun fact Kelley was an alchemist in real life along with 100 eyes when he was human.
as an alpha, beta and last chance player. the twilight missions actually used to be a lot harder before final release, youd have to fight mobs of skeletons and other such things while fighting bosses like Ino-enma or Onryoki. twilight missions existed for the alpha players who wanted the brutality of the original concept of the game, because there was a divide in the community of people bitching saying the game was too unforgiving in its brutality. Aaaaaand then for some reason twilight missions ALSO got nerfed in difficulty. Nioh used to be insanely brutal back in the alpha. beyond demon souls brutal.
It's quite ironic because it's actually the difference, none of the characters is helping you, there are only two short submissions and two short parts in the main mission where NPCs help you You are basicly the guy who does the whole dirty work for them And the story is easy to understand but not good
Nioh is fun for that but Dark Souls' world, lore and characters are far, far more memorable. Plus as an off-note I think Lords of the Fallen does Nioh's more obvious style of storytelling and world building a lot better but that's just my opinion.
I absolutely love the yokai designs in this game. They basically took the highly stylised visuals of anime creatures and translated them perfectly into real looking creatures.
(Nervously looks around himself and sighs) I'm gonna get crucified for saying this but... I think this game is way better than both Dark Souls and Bloodborne
@Shifter X I'd say Nioh 1 is still worse than Bloodborne but I think Nioh 2 is the best game ever, not exaggerating. Also imo. It’s been a little while and my opinion has now changed, I think this game is better than Bloodborne now.
Yeah, beating the story is rather draining due to the repetition. But getting the PLATINUM TROPHY? All I'm gonna say is Marobashi, Marobashi and then some more Marobashi. And then I put the game down for 6 months for how exhausted I was. THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANKFULLY the DLC isn't required for the Platinum Torphy. :,D
7:38 - I know Caddy mean to say "Shuriken carrying" but what he actually said was "Shoryuken carrying" and now I'm imagining Ryu fighting through this whole game with his bare hands XD
I love your videos Caddy. you away seem to have a similar view point to myself on games. & Nioh is no exception. Beautiful Game! I have to say I have been pondering over the purchase of a PS4pro, Every-time I watch your videos & you wax lyrical about it I think to myself, I should get one. However I don't have the "Excuse" that I need it for work :-P Keep up the Ace content Fella :-D
As sad as it sounds, I haven't even played Nioh and yet despite you stating "Spoilers", I didn't want to turn the video off... I missed my Caddicarus addiction too much!
So, a word on the accent: There's a few scholars who poured over all the Shakespeare plays and poems looking at the rhyme patterns to try to discover the London accent of the late 1500s/early 1600s. And, shockingly, it's a *lot* rougher than you'd think and is something of a cross between a West Country accent and an Irish accent. The more you know!
I did every single goddamn side quest when I went through the game for the first time. As soon as I was done, I started a new playthough with a different build. I'm still doing all the side quests, and I'm not bored in the slightest. And I've still got the DLC to go through, which is why I made a new build. My other build was a bit all over the place, so I wanted to use all the info I had about the game to make a better build before jumping into the dlc, but I didn't want to just use a book of reincarnation, because I didn't fully understand the story yet, so I wanted to go though the main game again focusing more on the story.
7:51 Odd difference between the NA and PAL versions. That boss is named "Obsidian Samurai" in the NA version, but just "Dark Samurai" in the PAL version.
Dear "literally everyone who played Nioh and Dark Souls", Stop comparing Nioh to Dark Souls... Not every game that has a stamina bar is Dark Souls. Hell, Nioh has more in common with Onimusha. That said they're both awesome games.
Who else would love a *Zelda* game with combat and dark fantasy tones similar to *Nioh* or *Dark Souls* ? Using a wide variety of weapons & outfits, each with their own combos & properties, SO many different creatures & bosses from lore re-imagined to be scarier, unlocking the ability to play as Princess Zelda, Ganon, Sheik, Impa, and others in New Game+, etc.
It runs pretty well on normal PS4, only dips I had were when screen was full of explosions and particles and what nots but overall it ran smooth as butter. Also the boss he is explaining as "luck based" is simple if you use fast weapons
7:00 Hold on... Tadakatsu Honda is in the game... and he's a pain to fight? And I thought I've seen everything back in Samurai Warriors and Sengoru Basara XD Tadakatsu Honda appears in those games as well, and both Koei-Tecmo and Capcom made him a living tank X_X
It's honestly not *that* bad of a fight. There are several that are much worse because they feel straight up unfair or have genuinely terrible mechanics, Tadakatsu's fight is just gimmicky crap that involves a lot of hitting and running.
Nah that fight is very easy if you break the crystals, Caddy must have just had super low damage for that point in the game. However there is the fight where you have to take Tadakatsu and Muneshige at the same time, that one is actually difficult.
MrJechgo Yeah that fight is mostly a trick fight with the crystals. Later he challenges you like Muneshige does, so you get a one-on-one duel with him.
Darth Sceledrus The story isn't good (despite being cheesy fun) and the characters are forgettable, for me I need a reason to care about what happens in a game, otherwise I lose interest, but with Nioh I just didn't care what happened because of that.
The game looks like a ps2 game and it has you going through the same level ten times even if you moved on to a different map. I like the variety of gear and abilities and combat though.
I was enjoying Nioh so I decided to try the the soulsborne games because everyone was comparing it to them. I started playing Bloodborne and immediately lost any desire to go back to playing Nioh.
William is Irish because Americans love the Irish (and who can blame 'em, our accents are SO damn sexy~), especially since a large chunk of us are descended from Irish settlers. And for some reason this apparently means that game devs think that British people can't be used as protagonists because it's more fun to be an Irishman. Feel like if the people behind this and The Saboteur were put in charge of Assassin's Creed Syndicate, the entire population of London would be Irish.
The reason behind it was actually that ghosts are a thing in irish culture and they believe in them And since William can see and believe in ghosts they thought it would be smarter to make him irish
Unless you have a smooth brogue that is easy to understand, Irish accents are anything but sexy half the time. I've lived in Ireland for a while and if you can get past the nasty slurring and all the "yaalrightbai's" I guess so yeah. Genuinely worse than cockney.
Odd that Caddy had a hard time with Honda. I also thought that fight was pretty shitty, but mainly because it was incredibly underwhelming for a fight against one of history's biggest badasses. For me it was just a matter of baiting an attack, evading it, and then breaking a crystal before he recovered. Rinse, repeat two times and bam, you win. Practically a Zelda boss. By the looks of it, DPS was his main problem. For the most part, levels don't really matter in this game so long as you have the skill to make up for it, but Honda is a pure battle of numbers. If you don't have the damage output to break a crystal before he has time to recover and hit you, I can see how he could be a much bigger pain in the ass. I guess that would be one of the only times where it wouldn't be lame to use a Sloth talisman on a boss. Fortunately there's a side mission where you get to fight Honda normally and it's considerably less shitty, although still relatively easy compared to most of the other duels in the game. Beyond super armour and that OP passive healing buff that kicks in at around 30%, Honda's bizarrely simple to smack around.
Like you i was confused why they made an historical English character sound Irish. According to the game's creators they wanted to make William Irish because Irish folklore has alot of spirits in it and since Siarocise (spelling) is based on an celetic water spirit, and since the game itself is replete with spirits, it would make sense and also explain why William can see spirits
I'm sure that's not what they did for the ending given William actually had a family back home but with all the creative liberties the game have I don't think it really matters.
Love your videos, but did you seriously just show the final boss and give away the ending without any spoiler warning? What the hell is wrong with you?
Dude is King of spoiling games for noobs and boring veteran players w basics. Would get more views if he just SAVED THE SPOILERS FOR THE END OF HIS VIDS.
William looks a lot like edward Kenway from ac4.. I'm personally taking a break from this game since I'm not really enjoying it. I love the silly story and I love how William comes all as if he has no idea what's going on in the cutscene since everyone speaks Japanese to him. But the bosses aren't fun to fight. Sure I can beat them and sure they have interesting designs but other then that they're more of a pain in the ass to fight and I loose interest rather quickly. That Hundred Eyes fight looks fun so maybe I'll pick it up again. Good review as always Caddy.
7:07 I don't know how... but I managed to beat this boss on my first play thought on my first try (if I remember correctly) without even realizing the crystals were there, or that I should destroy them... but when I fought him again I destroyed the crystals, and it was extremely easy, so I don't see why you had so much trouble with it.
His guardian spirit is named saoirse which means freedom in Irish so the story is basically about an Irish man fighting for freedom so you basically play as the OG Michael Collins
Hondo was so easy for me, personally. I know everyone's play-through is different, but I just used one living weapon and ran over to each one and killed them super fast. It was like a 2 min boss fight
caddy you can actually destroy one of the crystals in the warrior of the east fight with rangebefore going into the arena. i did it and beat him first try and i doubt im too lucky lol
Actually, you the Honda Tadakatsu boss fight can be entirely skipped by giving that one guy the shit he wants to gain access to the part of the level after Honda.
I did every side mission except the last 2 at the very end, because they both require you to fight 2 bosses at the same time and I don't have the patience for that
Guys, stop whining about the spoilers. He literally warns you about them at the beginning of the video. If you didn't want spoilers, you could have just left the video. :\
I wonder if this game contain giant ennemy crabs. It's based on japanese history after all.

It would be awesome if you could though.
As someone who has played Okami and other Japanese lore containing games; I found the bosses to be really cool :-)
