David here! I was more than happy with what I got for the stuff. Just a little camera shy 😅 Pete is welcome back any time! It will be nice to have a video of what it looked like in there before it gets completely cleaned out. Any good stuff will be sold and the rest will get scrapped/thrown out. Thanks again Pete!
Can't blame you for being a little camera shy. I would suggest doing the scrapping yourself. There's a lot of things you might not realize, that have scrap value. Definitely do your homework.
My thoughts exactly people just like to always think negatively, $400 is fair price for some items sitting around collecting dust.
You’ve got a lot of doh in scrap there ! A serious amount of money, be careful who sees this if they now where the building is David.
Definitely got a good connection with Pete I'd say. Maybe use him as a sounding board for anything you aren't sure about.? There are plenty out there that would do you wrong.
You where doing just fine David, thanks for sharing your story.
Like a kid in a candy store. Fun for Pete and viewers.
my kind of candy
the seller looked less than impressed with the outcome lololol
That warehouse definitely need some recyclers and scrap guys that will take all the junk and unnecessary, unusable metals out of there. And leave the more valuable stuff to sell. He was expecting Pete to buy more stuff from the start but kinda hard to do so with a warehouse like that
Lol yea he did
Hate to say it but I don’t think he will get the invite back.
I think seller wanted to sell a lot more stuff and get some more cash out of the deal. But i got that vibe to
@urmama9845 yea it definitely seemed that way
I was waiting for Dave to say to Peter after they made a deal on the price , " give me your ID and I will write you up"!
Peter was still buying like he would in his own store so I'm surprised that Peter didn't still get his normal id paperwork
Yes, this was a fun departure from your typical videos. Bring on more.
id rather see a million stuffed warehouses than all this end up in a landfill
Interesting that was like American Pickers but Chicago style which we never see on the History Channel. Please go back and find more treasures.... nice job Pete
What a video, you should get your own show "Craigslist Picker". Seeing this man's hoard made me really sad because I know what he felt. This was his life, his pride and joy, no matter what others thought this was his kingdom and it's now gone. It needed to be done because all of the items would rot, rust, and just become useless if left as is. Pete is doing a service by getting items and reselling them to people who will use and appreciate them. I think that the grandfather would approve and respect Pete for repurposing his items and not letting them go to waste.
The seller should get whatever amount he can from Peter. Most is junk for metal scrap, however, there are vintage items that can be resold. That being said, the seller needs to empty his warehouse and grab whatever money is being offered to him, I really enjoyed watching this back in the past video. Great video Pete!
For sure. Unless he wants to make a living out of it. He will be there for years at those prices.
He should call up Heavy D from Diesel Brothers... he could buy the whole contents and have in cleared out fast! Instead of having a few select people search and pay a few hundred dollars for the day.
Yeah for sure some nice items here, prop companies would love some of these things, nice vintage items with character.
Tired of reading what people should do yata yata.
Their is alot of very cool stuff in their ! I'm a retired plumber! And wow alot of good stuff in that department! That's the stuff that lasts a lifetime!@
Maxwell Street was the place to go back in the day 50-60 years ago. We would find some good treasures then treat ourselves to a maxwell polish. Those were the good ole days. Now that was some warehouse full of stuff.
Video was great, when the garage door opened I was in awe of the size. Telling us about the smells reminded me of my childhood and at gas stations with basements full of old tools and oils
Id say atleast 50 percent of that stuff is scrap metal at this point. All rusted and out of date equipment. Would be a scrappers dream lol another great vid pete.
50%??? More like 90+%! Old tools will have seized motors if the warehouse wasn't climate controlled! Motors are probably locked up from rust!
Great job, you can tell the owner was wanting more cash, and probably thinking a much larger sales overall. Cheers from Jacksonville Florida 🌞
Yeah thought pete was a bigger buyer.
He calling a pawn shop...if he wants top dollar he has to put some effort in...pawn shop is for the person who needs quick cash
@@harryschneider1760We all want more cash lol. but can we realistically get is the question!
@@harryschneider1760he’s not a pawn shop lol
Got to give the Dad props I mean seriously he kept a lot of it in order
yeah but unfortunately its not organized well enough to say he actually enjoyed it or took pride in it. it would be more well organized and clean if he was a serious collector. by the evidence shown it looks like he was battling some sort of addiction of buying stuff and filling some hole or something. yeah he kept it relatively organised but if he was collecting it would look much better. hes obviously filling a void but still sane enough to keep it from being a junkyard
@@newslavecity8311 lol no
@@chocolatecoveredgummybears yeah he was definitelly feeding some sort of compulsive addiction. organized hoarding looks like
@@newslavecity8311 bro no he wasn't. that was basically a storage unit. it was organized just old. he had labels on the shelves for categorizing. that's the opposite of what hoarders do
@@chocolatecoveredgummybears naw it was poorly organized at best and things were mingled about. the second room at the end of the vid is alot cleaner and organized well. he def had some sort of compulsive hoarding and buying addiction
Nice! Diff than the same ol counter videos. Its cool seeing what catches your eye versus being stuck w whatever walks in your shop. ✌️☘️
Love the picking side of things! Great video!
@3:25 that smell is best explained as a old steam locomotive 🚂. If you have ever ridden on one you know the smell, wet, oil 🛢️, metal ,dirt, old wood 🪵, and old people... almost like a metal supply shop
PETE Your The Man!! Thank You For All Your Outstanding Videos!! Stay Safe My Friend.
As much as I would love to see more videos in this place, I have a feeling Pete won't be getting an invite back. The guy clearly wants to get rid of everything and he's not gonna get there by selling a truck load (or even trailer loads) at a time.
pete did say he wanted to bring a trailer tho
@@chocolatecoveredgummybears I could be wrong, but I just didn't get the impression that even a couple trailer loads would do much for that guy. He seems like he wants it all gone. A guy coming through just cherry picking a couple trailer loads of the good stuff doesn't really solve his problem.
@@MattB-ko8zw In the end, he'll need to pay someone to clear out all the crap and haul it away.
@@MattB-ko8zw true
How on earth would you know what that guy was thinking?
@ 2:08 the only way to experience this whole place is buy it all in one shot rent the building for 6 months and sell it all between the shop online and a in person sale!... I did this with my stepfathers tool horde after cleaning out just the trash and pricing everything on 3 very large box truck moves, and place adds in everything and any place I could find as a huge tool and miscellaneous sale, I sold everything but the surveyor's equipment, in two weekends out of my garage, I had people stopping by during the week because they knew I was bringing more. We made over 30k from two yard sales, I could only imagine what this place would pull!!! My stepdad only had a quarter of the inventory this place was. Man I really wish I had the money to buy all of that and do the same thing... sh!t I would even work with them and do all the work and take a quarter of the profits as payment, there is allot of money to be made out of that building..
yeah you would have to let people pick through because they will know what some of those specialized parts or tools are for . Stuff like those big heavy brass pipe fittings probably worth a lot more than scrap if you found someone who could use them. But that would be the hard part.
@@LarryKapp1 you can't have people picking through it, everything would need to be priced before the sale to make to most money. I could tell you 98% what tools are there and 50% of the parts and the Internet can pick up a good 40% of the others.
He has a full time job buddy. He has a store and a UA-cam channel.
@@BlindVeganRescue I know that "PAL", That's what I would had done if I HAD THE MONEY... I never said Pete would need to do that CHIEF!
This guy created his own personal home depot.
Love these kind of videos.Props to the guy to let you film. Thanks both.
Dave didn't seem too happy. Lot's of contemplation going on. I would say $400 was fair on that lot.
too
Agreed.
definetly a fair price! Who knows if it still works after all those years
That is amazing. Id get lost there.
Mike..... the two legged Alley Rats dragged those city owned tools in there for a piece of the cheese. "Ya No Wha I'm Sayin".
O Man! I love tools. I hope you guys keep selling this stuff. So much better than it rotting away.
BTW, I'm one of the guys that does not like battery tools.
Spend so much time charging and buying new batteries.
100% with you. i rather buy a old machine/tools, then new.
Better quality in the old stuff, build to last.
The new made stuff are built to break within 2-3years.
I got a really good drill machine from resell store for 14$ around 25yr old,
scratches and marks all over, from being in work a long time, but work like new.
Gonna be honest for a minute, this is one of the best channels on UA-cam. I really look forward to these uploads, thanks very much for the entertainment Pete
Why not just be honest almost all the time?
I love your videos. Awesome to see your journey. Thank you for sharing with us.
Really cool watching you pick thru Daves warehouse full of stuff. Enjoyed the tag along, God bless!
Had my phone in my pocket listening from the beginning and 8 minutes in after fixing my meal and letting the dogs in and out I sit down, look at the video and Pete's on the ceiling... great stuff. Thanks for the video!
Peter…I like your different video is new …refreshing ..exploring other thing is best way …garage is good thing for exploring of past stuff and make some good money …keep it up on different way …thank you sharing your experiences on video …cheers 😊🎉😊🎉
those huge carbide concrete drills are over 150 new.
I moved from New York to Illinois in 1986 , I guess I’m an antique now.
That's weird I moved to Illinois from ny a couple years ago 😂. And glad I did
Crazy How likeable u are pete, found ur channel like a week ago and have spent hours watching u already 😅🙏🏻 keep up the Good work
There's no doubt some tradesmen are dead and their tools ended up here, and some tradesmen that had to work twice as hard, that had to replace the tools that "cooled" off here, due to notorious Maxwell street!
You passed up two Stanley chisels brand new in the package. They go for $40-80 each. It was in the filing cabinet at 11:13 in the 3rd drawer.
Yes lots of money sitting around there. He left some good stuff. I would be loading up a big trailer
pete said he'd be back, so maybe he'll see those then
Lol I'm sure he'll run back over and pick those up.
@@BlindVeganRescuedon’t think he’s going to be invited back after all that time for next to nothing from seller lol. Waste of his time. Hes standing there waiting and helping Peter.
I love this kind of treasure hunting/picking video. So much fun! When you began to describe what the warehouse smelled like, I knew it before you even said it: dust and motor oil. Many years ago--wow, about 47 years ago!--I used to work summers in a factory that made welders. That was exactly the smell of that place. I almost had a smell-a-vision experience as you walked through the warehouse. I hope you do more videos like this one. I miss your dumpster diving videos. hahaha But this was was even better.
You tried to describe the smell, thats when you know you’re in an old garage or shop. I know exactly that smell.
Thanks for taking me along on your adventure.
Love salvaging and rummaging. Treasure everywhere in life all we need to do is look.
I hope I get to visit Chicago one day.
Nice place. The dude was a bit unsure about the value of everything, but, if he wanted to get rid of it all he could hire you as a consultant to make it happen.
Crowbar Business is obviously going well in Chicago :D
the stories those item could tell ... amazing
What a journey!! Thanks for sharing.
Ah this was such a good video! So interesting to see what's hidden in there and all the surprises behind the corners! LOVE IT.
Yeah, that old grandfather really kept that place organized. Wow I give him props.
Wow, I’ve never been to heaven but it sure seemed nice!
Lucky guy you are Pete!
Seller looked so disappointed with the offer. lol If he wants more money, he should sell to independent contractors, not to a re-seller.
That place is loaded with good tools and items that are useful..😍😮 Love the vintage light fixtures especially the last ones shown on the top shelf..🤔😊 Good deal Pete and definitely should go back for more..😉 Take care..👍💕🔥👊
That light you put back was the best thing. Easy 350 bucks. Or more.
Reminds me of several people I know. They accumulate items and never do anything with it.
Love the channel Pete ! Almost at 300 thousand subs you deserve it man !
Enjoyed the pick. What a treasure trove!
My parents have that same exact lamp that you thought was copper it’s matte brown paint and should have a white glass globe on it
This place looks like my basement.
I really like your t-shirt,one of my favorite groups from back in the day.
25:05 It's so rare to see a bike with a steering wheel. They all have handlebars now.
😂😂 I caught that too..Rare find indeed!
lmao
WOW, that was amazing. I loved seeing him digging through all that stuff.
Pete you hit the mother load. Love watching you dig for items. I thought this would be perfect for you as well as for your store. I hope you have another video of you picking same location. You may have already and I just haven’t seen it. Good luck!
Make this a series I would definitely watch
Thank you great video
Great to watch respect from London
Hey Pete, I really enjoyed this video. A little different than the usual but certainly enjoyable to watch. I love this channel. Keep up the great work! Looks like you had fun as well going through all the old stuff. Tell Dave to smile more while on camera...haha...
You have a great eye. Amongst all that stuff in that warehouse, your pile looked pretty prime. I am addicted to your channel by the way. I've been binge watching it all day. Keep it up!
What a ace place..... wish i was there., lot's of things i wanted lol .loved this.
Man that is my dream pick. I love looking through places like this. Quality stuff there. Lots of money sitting there. You left some good stuff behind. That farm Jack alone is worth $150 bucks. Much taller than a regular one you see on jeeps.
Not many people would pay that price for an old used manual farm jack.
Literally a scrappers heaven. Big BIG bucks worth of metal in there, copper alone would give someone a small fortune. If I was that guy I'd hire a couple guys to come in and separate all the copper, brass, etc. Load up some dumps trucks and cash out a big Ole payday. After that's done just throw a post up online and warehouse sale it over a weekend.
Loved the video with the thrill of what was in there
Nice video Pete, amazing place to get to see. The guy selling did seem he wanted more , but of course if he wanted more he could of cleaned items up ,checked that the electric ones work .Then take pictures of them ,list them wait for a seller to come alone then pay the selling fee then package them up then pay postage fee then go to post items . Reselling is just not a simple take home sell next day for double money .
Pete, I would just make him a one flat offer on everything in his building. Unless the seller is trying make that a business selling each piece by piece.
Ok, this vid was different and I really enjoyed it. I’d be in there for hours!
I personally love the different videos! Looking forward to more different videos like this in the future!
The guy would do way better if he hired a Estate Sale company to come in get that place sold piece by piece to hundreds of people. A good mixture of hoarders, collectors and resellers would empty that place substantially over the course of weekend or two.
A lot of really cool stuff.
I enjoyed it and love Electric Light Orchestra, nice tee shirt Pete.
You got a hell of a deal just them 6-8' pry bars were worth $500
Wow! It’s nice there weren’t major roof leaks and things are in good condition. I hope you get to pick for a few days.
My landlord had a warehouse like this. He scrapped everything. I would recommend having an auction.
Those orange rubber mats were lineman blankets used for working on high voltage lines. Most of them have an expiration date on them but some people still buy them past expiration. They go for 150-300 usually new depending on the size.
Brilliant vid !!
I could literally spend days in a place like that. So cool.
Love these types of videos. Keep it up
If we lived in the USA, my husband would be digging through this garage like a shot
The boxes you showed at the beginning are engineers boxes and cost a lot of money over here in the UK, hubby paid a couple of hundred pounds for one 15 years ago!
Great video! 😊
I'm 72 and have been a collector for many years. There is some GOOD stuff in that place. I would be like a kid in a candy store all over again. !!
Look forward to seeing the next time you come with a trailer. The warehouse is well organized and some of those older items are quality made. Lots of treasures that you didn't see I'm sure.
That guy isn't going to waste his time to do that again. Drop in the bucket, for a guy who is just cherry picking the deal.
An absolute gold mine waiting for a whole series of you picking this whole warehouse
Wow lot of stuff!!! Please upload more of these kinds of videos.
Nice change of pace i enjoyed it Pete.
Dang that hard hat sandblasting helmet would have been a perfect Among Us costume 😂
Enjoy watching your channel
Wow, a lot of stuff in there. Holy molly
Oh wow, what a treasure trove, great video as always keep them coming 👍👍
You always pick the best tracks for your backing sounds. Props!
Holey Crap you have found the end of the 🌈 !!!!! Can you imagine the time element categorizing everything. It would be cool to buy it all. A huge payback for very hard work.
I would love to look around there👌
I’d love to visit the shop. I enjoy watching from Evans, GA!
great deal for both. ❤
i enjoyed it thanks
I enjoyed it and I could use a few items I saw there. 😊
You almost got the jack to work. Just needed the grandson to pull that release up till it clicked. I still use that kind of jack. ❤❤❤
Peter, I have come to really love your channel. Your profession is interesting but I am drawn in by your kind personality, your passion for your trade but most of all, how you treat the people you come into contact with every day.
Would love to see a video about how these videos factor into your earnings. What percentages or just how the business end of this all works.
