That's it, that's Tendi in a nutshell, and it's why we love her.
I love how there's virtually no canon for ORion culture so Lower Decks is making it up as they go along.
And -- to paraphrase Kor "It's been glorious."
Their doing a very fair job of it, too.
This is especially funny when you remember the fact that Orions were one of the first alien species shown in star trek. They appear in the first episode ever.
And that's how it becomes cannon

I personally love that, contrary to the portrayal in most media, she isn't ashamed of who she is now, but actively enjoys and owns it. In most other series or movies, whenever someone leaves and is accused of being less like they were before, they become flustered, or try an dpretend they're still exactly the same as when they left. Instead, Tendi's proud and happy with "being soft", and knows she's got absolutely nothing to prove.
I love how Tendi acts all sweet but in reality she is a total badass
The whole point is that Tendi is acting like a badass but in reality she's really sweet and wants nothing to do with that stuff =p

@@TheBlueArcher Also, even if she doesn't want it, she still knows it, and when it helps with Starfleet, she will go to her badass skills in a heartbeat. Case in point: In Veritas, Tendi could have beamed out her team, but went instinctively to beating up all of the Romulans...
She's not acting sweet, she IS sweet who just so happens to be able to be badass whenever she wants.

One of many classic scenes in this simply great episode of Lower Decks. And I notice T'lyn never even raises a single eyebrow the whole time...she could definitely play that game.

One interesting little detail is that it doesn't seem to matter in which order you place your shot glass, since Tendi and the bar owner use different hands. But if you complete the three spaces that closest to your free hand, you then need to complete the other three spaces on the opposite side, which would take a second longer. And one second can mean a lot when dealing with a highly aggressive and venomous murder bug. On top of that, if you completed the near row first you have to do the "cross over" row while tipsy, adding an extra layer of difficulty.
There are two possibilities here. One is that you HAVE to do the shots in a certain order regardless due to the rules of the game. Or, and this is my personal favorite take, you COULD actually do the cross over row first while you're sober, which would be the logical move. But in Orion culture this is consider a "bitch ass move" so players don't do it to prove they aren't a punk

I do like how they establish this murder bug drinking game with no verbal explanation. Both know how to play, and you can guess the majority of the rules as you go along.

For the record thats on the list of most dangerous places to be stabbed. Large blood vessels that are very hard to reach when you want to control the bleeding.
Yeah and the stabbing part hits the exact same spot and the odds of are a million to one but. it's star fleet everything impossible can happen be it something amazing or goofy.
She's got to have either nanotech in her bloodstream or a dermal regenerator she's using off-screen. Only explanations I can think of to how she doesn't bleed out.
Love how tendi is natural more badass than Mariner.

Tendi isn't exactly quiet...pretty sure she talks more than any of them.
Mariner may brag about her fighting ability and history of deniable Grey Ops, but Tendi was raised as the most badass operative in space. And she's the nicest nerd out there.
Mariner asks how Tendi’s good at the murder bug game, but I thought it looked considerably simple. Guess it’s a matter of handling the liquor
well, no one even touches a glass until the murderbug flashes its hood. in between that and its bite, the player has to grab the shot, down it, and place the empty glass face-down on a very specific spot. to say nothing of the pure nerves of staying there while the murderbug is going in for the murderbite. simple, yes, but not something you're likely going to be doing smoothly, cleanly, and without flinching your first time.

I think one of the rules are the shots are varied, like you can have an easy shot or some fireball / nasty drink, which would explain why she choked on the last shot.. Kind of like drink roullet with a muder bug challenge on top.
It's pretty cute that Tendi doesn't want to be a Pirate even tho she is pretty good at doing Pirate things

She was trained to be one of the best, but her heart wasn't in it
She might be good at it, but if she didn’t love it, she’d be miserable af for the rest of her life. That’s why she chose Starfleet. She’s great at that and likes it to boot.
I think Tendi is just partly gifted and mostly hard working so she tends to get good at things she is interested in (like science and exploration) and even things she gets pushed into (Orion Piracy).
When Tendi wears those gloves, her fingers look like the fingers from Peridot's limb enhancers...
I can see why Tendi decided to leave her home planet to join Star Fleet since she hated the Orion's traditons.

I played it once. It's not so bad. Once you amputate your hand to prevent the poison from spreading to the rest of your body, you really start to get the hang of it.

It took me a couple minutes to figure out where I recognized her voice from, then I remembered that she also voiced Bridgette in "Close Enough".

I'm noticing that Tendi's outfit seems to be at odds with the club. Either because she hasn't been keeping up with the styles, or she's actively choosing to buck the scene. I'm guessing the latter since Mariner and T'Lyn seem better fitted for the club.
