Great tip. I just bought gas, and found out it has water in it. Car died but I got to run stumbling along home. Going to see if I can buy one. Thanks for posting this tip.

Best (by far) video explaining how the gas tapper actually works! Great job. Thanks.

Thank you! I bought a siphon as I'm getting rid of my car but it still has half a tank of gas that I want as much of as possible. Now I know why I couldn't get to it! I'm going to buy a thinner piece of tubing & try to rig something like this up instead 👍👍👍

Ethanol blends in today's gasoline are hydroscopic. They draw moisture. After a period of time in unused vehicles (over 6 months) fuel can become moisture laden and phase. Fuel separation will occur. Once separated you will get water on the bottom, alcohol in the middle and low octane gas on top. Your vehicle will not run until you get the stale fuel out and replaced with fresh gas.

one thing to add - be sure to have it suck in some diesel when you are done - or the gas will dry out the pump and the next time you use it it will be junk... they need to put a HUGE sticker on the box for that - since most people would want to use this more than once

  • @googleuser868

A ridged piece of garden hose pushed the checkball out of the antisiphon device in my 98 Silverado. That firm plastic pipe you slid in the tank first would probably have worked. I needed to empty the tank to replace the fuel pump. Not sure if anything changed on later models.
Need to get stale fuel out of another vehicle and looking into options without dropping the tank. Don't really want a loose checkball floating free in the tank. Probably wouldn't hurt anything but...
Might try letting the fuel pump pump it out through an open line and jumping the fuel pump relay.

Please note that GasTapper is not made for use indoors, ever. Always use this product outdoors only with the siphon on the ground.

On my RAV4 when the button inside the car that opens the fuel filler door is pressed it also opens the valve in the fuel filler tube so you can fill the tank with gasoline. Otherwise fuel wouldn't go into the tank but would back up in the filler tube and spray back at you. Doesn't your car do that too?

That inner tube (smaller diameter) is it soft or rigid? And how long it is, if you could tell. Where I can find a similar device, which is operated manually? Normally you want to extract the fuel from the car which doesn't start or something. Thank you for the informative film.

I have a 2007 Corvette C6 and need to. get some gas out of the tank, but I tried a regular siphon and it did not go into the tank because it was blocked. Since you said it would not work on a GM I doubt this would work. If anyone has experience, I would love to know.

I have a vehicle with a 23gallon tank I almost never drive nor would I choose to in an emergency so that’s enough to get my girlfriends hybrid 1300 miles lol or run a generator for a bit

if you fart while siphoning will it cause an explosion?

    • @mikek5206
      @mikek5206 Рік тому +2

Yes, same thing happens at the gas station which is why your dad always asked you to stay in the car as a kid. Also why in New Jersey you aren't allowed to pump your own gas. New Jerseyans have the worst farts, which have been known to cause hazardous situations. The attendants they use actually are required to live in New York and travel to NJ every day since the food in NY is better it doesn't cause as much gas. They're also specially trained to hold in farts although this is partly genetic.

This doesn't make any sense. 1st hose u put in , it hit an end. OK no siphon. 2nd wide hose you put in, also cannot go through. How did it align inside the pipe with the small hole, for it to be able to allow the thin hose though ? Magic just let's your 2nd wide hose align with the small hole ?

Just get the two tubes from a hardware store and siphon the old fashioned way. IIRC the check ball anti siphon device on my pickup had an opening around it the smaller tube may have slid through with some effort. Smaller tube will take longer to get the fuel out.
I pushed my check ball out with a small diameter stiff piece of garden hose when I emptied the tank to change the fuel pump. No guarantee this device won't do the same. I popped the plastic check ball back in place when the fuel pump was removed before installing the new pump and putting the fuel tank back on the truck.
