A simple and quick rundown of my thoughts on the new Super Mario RPG Remake. Not a whole lot of description needed.

No offense but I think making dozens of gaming youtube videos and beating resident evil 4 three times makes you a gamer
I sure felt like a gamer playing RE4 three times but like I said, it was the outlier. I barely played anything else. Also, my channel has shifted more toward card videos 😅

When you're right, you're right.
Paraspectre just wants to play video games and make UA-cam videos about video games and not be a gamer, why are you trying to take that away from him?
I like the animations for the timed hits. It’s far clearer how well you timed it now, a problem I had when I played the original on Virtual Console. I didn’t even know the damage changed as dynamically as it does. I thought it was a strict hit or miss like Paper Mario. Now it’s much easier to judge through trial and error
Having not played the original past the first hour I appreciated this. I've been on the fence about buying the remake and this may have convinced me to give it a try. I enjoy retro games so I'm sure I'd enjoy the original. I do generally notice when RPGs are too easy though so either version may give me some frustrations in that regard. I found Persona 5 way too easy even on the higher difficulty levels.
If you ever need a break from Pokémon TCG challenges, there are a few Mario RPG challenges you could try, like different solo character runs. I understand solo Mallow and solo Bowser are a ton of fun.
I wish Mario actually used a RPG
This doesn’t count?

It's good enough :)
Should've replaced the big mushroom on Parasect with a Mario Mushroom as your Mario persona.
Come on algorithm, show me more Paraspectre. I didn’t see this until days after it posted!
Its interesting that you have as a mixed that the game doesn't change enough then go on to call two of the main actual changes negatives. You also dropped the new soundtrack really early. It sounds like you wanted a more exact experience, so then why is that a mixed?
It’s mixed because my thoughts on it are conflicted. I feel like the changes they did make did not enhance my experience is all
When I was a kid most of the bosses were super hard for me but that's because I didn't understand the concept of leveling up so I just ran through the game as fast as I could and avoided regular enemies as much as possible so by the time I got to a boss I was way under leveled.
I loved the remake. I wonder if you played the post game extra bosses. They had neat little gimmicks, added some difficulty, and added new content. So I feel like they addressed a lot of your issues, but I'd also get not including them in the review, not fighting them, or feeling like they didn't add enough to offset the issues in the main game.

Instant like.

I am very happy for you and the Super Mario RPG community getting this remake. I know how much this game is loved by rthe fans and being able to have such a faithful remake is a blessing. I personally hope this opens the way for a Thousand Year Door remake, that's one of my favorite Mario games.
TTYD remake is supposed to release sometime next year
I do wish the game had a hard mode but I love it anyways. Have you tried the romhack Super Mario RPG Armageddon?
Also I don’t mind the gauge because you can ignore it, but the splash damage for perfect hits made it way too easy to blow through some battles and I wish you could turn it off
Hey! First time I played Mario Rpg. I really loved the fast pacing of this game unlike other Rpgs. You see a lot of areas, hear different music and fight soo many bosses in like 10 hours.
#1 request for this game that didn't happen was ability to remove Mario from the party and it didn't happen.
It's nice to hear your take on another franchise than Pokemon, your Pokemon vids are great, but it is refreshing to hear about another game you're passionate about.
I see you dont mention it but Super Mario RPG was made by Square Enix which means they are partial rights owners meaning if Mario RPG 2 were to ever happen Sony and Nintendo need to come together and sign off on it again. Which would never happen again.
Nintendo wanting another story based Mario and didnt want to deal with Sony anymore made Paper Mario. Its light on the rpg aspects but its still turn based and most important of all the great story and characters came back.
If you liked RPG story and characters you should really give Super Paper Mario (N64) and Thousand Year Door a try. They're really good! They still have soul and fun. Super Paper Mario (Wii) was the last one with a neat story but the fun characters are gone. After Thousand Year Door Nintendo cracked down hard on creative liberties.
Tho youre free to skip it and only play Paper Mario (64) and TYD. After that point paper mario became so ass. The story, fun, and characters became so soulless. Its sad! Basically everything that made this series great. Up yours Nintendo!
I was very dissapointed with this remake. They made unnecessary dialogue changes among other unecessary changes and its too damn easy! It was so boring! I decided not to buy the game because i will never approve pointless changes and making things unbearably easy.
I was born when super Mario RPG was released which was 25- 30 yrs ago that's Old never played Mario RPG.
Man dont gatekeep yourself once a gamer always a gamer lol
This should be interesting.
I agree to everything. Still my favorite
Honestly, I get your issue with party switching, largely because of Pokemon. I always like planning out my team and experiencing different mons on different runs. But nowadays, the abundance of experience basically means you either constantly rotate team members or end up massively overleveled. I used around 30 different mons in my Violet playthrough alone and I've been doing it this way since Sun and Moon. It feels like replayability suffers a bit.
Are you saying that bullying Matthew doesn’t count as gaming?
If that’s gaming, then consider myself a true athlete 😎
New Nintendo games are so easy....
It really detracks from my enjoyment. They really need to add a hard mode or challaneges for unique achievements during the game
No comments on the postgame content? I was pleasently suprized at the new harder fights, but also a little mad - like how dare you tarnish my childhood memories with your tacky "bonus content" - Booster would never say something like that. Then I finished it and wished there was more bonus content...😢

I remember when my husband tried to get me to try this game, I just couldn’t get into it
That is fair!
