- I don't know much about Thor tools to be honest. This is the first one I've ever worked on. I bought this at an antique store for $12 and figured I could bring it back. Come along as I give this old drill some love. Let's get busy!

It came out great. So glad you painted the period color.
Thanks! I was tempted to just remove the paint and polish it but I prefer to keep the original whenever possible.
Another great project. I like the color and black accent. I have never heard of Thor. I used many metal body power tools back in the day. Glad you were properly supervised too. Merry Christmas and Happy Holy Days to You, your family and your supervisors!
Thanks! I don't think Thor survived beyond the 1960's. merry Christmas to you as well!
Thor is a very interesting company, I checked them out on Wikipedia. Thor purchased Speedway Manufacturing makers of the Speedway line of tools, including the famous Silverline. I knew I had seen that name before, it was on a vacuum cleaner. Beautiful restoration by the way, using a syringe to flood the paint was genius. Thanks for sharing your expertise
Thanks for the info! I did not know that the Silverline brand was Speedway. I'd like to claim genius status but the syringe idea was something I'd seen used before but never tried. It works well if you're patient.
Great restoration on that old drill. Thanks for sharing! Seasons Greetings!
And Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁
Thanks! Merry Christmas to you as well.
Thor was one of the Chicago area companies at the center of the American power tool industry.
Thanks for the info. I hear that the brand name may be revived.
@@floridarusticrepairs Revived by the USA or PRC?
@@rightlanehog3151 I think in Australia.
Nice job on the lettering. I melt a crayon and let it fill in the lettering and just rub off any high spots. You just have to have enough of the colors that you need. Perfect match on the color.
Interesting! I never would have thought of that. Does the color hold?
@@floridarusticrepairs So far it has. Older crayons may be better than the newer ones unless the formula has changed. I used Crayola crayons made in the USA.
@@alberteurs1501 Even as kids we all knew that Crayola were the only good crayons.
Come out great
Thanks! It's cool drill. Sounds like a vacuum cleaner.
The drill turned out nice . The lettering looks good. Nice job.
Is that a cat bed i saw?
Thanks! Yes, there is a bed for Mugsyif he ever decides to use it. :)
Mr. T as well!!
Gotta love the T-master. I just wish he would decide to come in the house but he's set in his ways. Mugsy on the other hand pretends to be a stray by day but at night he enjoys the finer things in life.
That came out great. Where did you get the syringe?
Thanks! The syringes are sold for refilling ink jet cartridges. Amazon carries them.
it killed me to not hear that thing run! Does it work?!?!?!!?
Yes, it runs fine. At the 33 minute mark I do run it briefly. I'll post something showing it run longer..
Maybe one of your subscribers could 3 d print a new cap for you ??
Good suggestion, thanks! This one crumbling got me concerned that I'll come across this problem again and it was kind of a pain making that cap. i was able to buy a collection of brush caps but none were the right size so I had to customize it.
Mugsy!
The Mug was all into this one.
It used to be Mike Tysons drill ..... he bought it at the thor.
All kidding aside ... nice job
I totally can read that in his voice. :)
