- This is a segment from the 1930 film Puttin' on the Ritz. Originally, this sequence was shot in Technicolor, however, it is only known to survive in black-and-white. In later years, this segment was also screened as its own separate feature from the rest of the film. Alice was played by Joan Bennett.
Some of these costumes were terrifying back in the day
I find it hilarious how they put spooky masks on the Duchess, Chess Kings and the Carpenter (who are human) but not the Hatter or card people.
I saw this way back on Night Flight, which showed a lot of public domain stuff. I thought until now I imagined it staying up all night.
It's the same song as the 1931 version!
Why is there a lost lion in there??!??!
