Hey Taelor. I’m in Pharmacy Tech school and it’s stressful girl! Could you have a video on how you got started, how it’s going, the pros and cons about the job, and the difference between retail and hospital setting?
I always watch vids like these because I am becoming a pharmacy tech myself and working my way up to pharmacist. So did you go into a program or school for pharm tech?
I actually didn’t do a school program! I received on the job training while simultaneously doing an online accredited course required through the job. I started as a Technician in training and 4 months later I took my Cpht exam and became a certified technician. Later on down the line I took different courses to get my immunization license, cpr license, sterile compounding etc.
I’ve never seen anyone with the same spelling as me “Taelor” I was just interested in pharmacy tech but once I saw your intro I was like okayyyy this is meant to be
I like hospital pharmacy, and the insurance side more than retail. Right now our pay is actually increasing every week due to everything going on. Starting out pay for techs is somewhere between $18-$23. With every year of experience you get more
A whole lot! Theres a lot of multiplication and division because you have to calculate days supply, also normal addition and subtraction because you will constantly be counting pills. Plus when dispensing medicine you have to calculate milligrams per milliliter.
Hey, great questions! I did take a separate course to administer immunizations, it was provided and paid for by my employer. However you are able to do it on your own through schools like Purdue University, or any junior college. It’s just a 2 day class and then a few supervised sessions in the pharmacy. The Ptcb/Excpt is a completely separate test. In most states you do need to have your Ptcb before getting your immunization license though.
Hi 👋 I’m taking pharmacy tech now n was thinking about quitting it seems boring a lil how do you like 👍🏽 it? N how long have you been doing it? What made you chose pharmacy tech?
Hey 👋🏽 I lOVE IT! With everything going on in healthcare right now it is extremely stressful, but not boring at all. Once you get the hang of everything I promise you’ll find the right pharmacy environment for you. I’ve been at it for about 3 years now and I’m still learning new things all the time ❤️
Hi I loved this video. I'm going for a Pharmacy technician as well and I'm starting my externship next month. I'm very stressed and scared lol but I'm also excited. I have a question do Pharmacy technician work more in the back counting medication, stocking etc. Or do they work more with dealing with customers in the front? 🤍
Heyyyy! I’m happy your starting and excited! It honestly depends on the pharmacy, but in retail it’s kind of 50/50 depending on if the store has a pharmacy cashier. Hospital pharmacy has limited to no patient contact.
Hey girl hey! I haven’t heard of any pharmacy techs being required to get vaccinated, however they did offer a pay incentive to get it. I work 32 hours a week with optional overtime. I would say the hardest part is constantly doing math all day.
I love your videos and you are gorgeous!! ❤️i am currently about to be a junior in high school wanting to become a certified pharmacy tech in texas. Any advice?
First of all thank you!!! Maybe try to see if your high school accepts dual credit classes with a local college and take the class that way? I’m sure it would be easy and free if they accept it or have a program for college credit
SUPER stressful if I'm being honest. There is so much to learn that it can be overwhelming. However if you have a good teacher and a few helpful co workers it becomes way easier. Researching and studying outside of work is helpful as well.
i just applied to walgreens to be a pharmacy tech i should get the job because the lady said they were hiring bad but i’m nervous i don’t have any knowledge or experience 😩 i love your video btw 💕 . do you like being a pharmacy tech ?
Heyyy, I’m sure you will get it! Most retail pharmacies do on the job training and will pay for you to get your license. Overall I enjoy it, I don’t know if I would do this long term but it’s fun for now.

So how much math do you do in a pharmacy tech job ... and what kind of math, like division, multiplication?
A whole lot! Theres a lot of multiplication and division because you have to calculate days supply, also normal addition and subtraction because you will constantly be counting pills. Plus when dispensing medicine you have to calculate milligrams per milliliter.
Did you take course to administer vaccines plus get certificate thru PTCB? Did your job pay for it?

Hi, I was wondering are they strict on having nails / long nails, hair color / length, and piercings?
Heyyyy. It depends on the place really. For the most part no, as long as your sterile your fine.
As a pharmacy tech do you have to get vaccinated? How many hours do you usually work a week? What's the hardest part of the job?
