    As a CPhT, I work 12 hours, 7pm to 7am, 7 days on 7 days off with a total of 2 techs working during these hours. One tech is filling and tubing orders while the other is pulling narcs for the 12 OR /Bronc/Endo/OB rooms. Once that is complete it’s taken to the floor and I go into each room to refill the Omnicells. It takes close to 2 hours to refill. In the meantime the other tech is multitasking in the pharmacy by filling IV orders, answering the phone calls and filling, tubing med requests etc. When I return to the pharmacy the other tech take a lunch break. I then work on crediting patients accounts then I go to lunch. After lunch we pull the morning run, rotate IV room coverage, tube med requests and replenish anesthesia trays and refill the omnicell cart etc...it’s rare that we get to sit down because it’s a fast paced environment-there is so much more to this job...

      Wow that’s amazing!! 👏🏾😀 I love hearing about hard working Pharmacy technicians, we really do a lot!!
      Exactly what we do hehe but definitely not as busy as your pharmacy sounds like. I volunteered for nights for a week but our original technicians work 7pm-7am, 7 days on and 7 days off but only with 1 technician a night and 1 pharmacist. I can’t imagine working 7pm-7am 😫 I definitely enjoyed it but night technicians definitely do more than morning technicians (at my hospital).

    Hi Drica! What state are you from? Did your hospital require you to have IV certification before starting your job? I’m looking into Texas State Board of Pharmacy and it vaguely talks about techs have to be IV certified in order to make sterile compounds.

    • @ItsDricaaa
      @ItsDricaaa  3 роки тому +2

      Hey hey, I’m in South Carolina. They don’t require us to get IV certification before we start working, just IV training once hired! I’ve thought about getting it but I don’t think I’ll get paid more. I would go on indeed and search hospital pharmacies in your area and check there requirements or call and ask 😉

    • @ItsDricaaa
      @ItsDricaaa  3 роки тому +2

      Hey hey, so I worked both retail and hospital and if I had to choose between the two I would pick hospital! You’re more respected and can feel more valuable, important and needed in my opinion! I do love retail but when it comes to rude customers and you have a pharmacist that can’t help and back you up when they know you’re correct, but rather stand back and let you get treated wrong over and over it gets exhausting and not worth it. I almost changed careers working retail. But understand every job has its ups and downs! 🙂
