My friend played a dimebag dean from hell in our schools jazz band until he graduated. Now I play an Ibanez gio for practice, and a PRs Se for concerts.
Whenever someone complains about you using a "heavy metal" guitar in a non-metal band, show them a video of Jimi Hendrix playing the blues on a Flying V!
I want a sequel where the kid with the LTD Arrow gets brought back by his uncle who then schools that band leader on the fact that the way you play determines how you sound more than anything
That's funny, I showed up for an audition for the jazz ensemble at the college I went to with a desert sun yellow Ibanez RG550 back in the late 80s, so I know the feeling :p
@@joeyshredz_1 no it’s not the Gretsch g2420 is much better and more versatile and at least that can be drop tuned unlike an esp ltd arrow with a Floyd rose
It is funny because I see a lot the jazz basses in metal, punk and rock, so why not an abc123 metal guitar in jazz? I plan to get a jazz bass and play rock/metal with it by the way.
Exactly only one floating mini humbucker not two mounted ones a strat isn’t a jazz guitar a real jazz guitar is an archtop two mounted pickups hollow body one mounted pickup neck or bridge hollow body archtop has a floating neck pickup only
As a metal head/metal musician, I think “metal” style looking instruments are honestly mostly boring. I get more intrigued by “pretty” instruments that stand out, but are super versatile. Dont get me wrong, some metal guitars are beautiful, but a lot seem to be bs marketing lol When I was younger and a major early 2000’s edge lord I was into them. As I get older, I like more artistic looking but still quality instruments. The contrast of heavy metal with what’s basically playable art pieces just does something for me.
Have you seen the Lionheart guitars with multicolored LED lighting used in Berried Alive? Absolutely wild-looking. Reminds me of Satriani's hand-painted limited editions.
I was amazed watching a guy playing a tele with a single in the neck producing some creamy jazz tones. While i tend to think of something with a floyd rose playing metal i try to take a pause and listen before i judge. Ive seen a busker with a pawn shop throw away do some crazy cool stuff.
no hate but that kind of where and tear doesn't realy effect the sound or feal of a guitar, and to me its great proof that it has been played alot and therefor is probably a good guitar,

I played for my school's jazz band with a schecter guitar with a floyd rose, it was kind of funny.
I dont play jazz at my school but im in our commercial music class and i only use my synyster gates guitars for it😅
I literally use an Ibanez acoustic with heavy gauge strings in beginner band
