The Brothers Johnson one of the greatest bands that were ahead of their time.
RIP Louis Johnson. One of the greatest Bass Players ever.
Plays with Michael Jackson and invented a new technique to play bass. Genious.
RIP Thunder Thumbs.
That transition into Stomp is pure Gold!!
Sure wish I could have gone to hear the Brothers Johnson play back in the day, but it's still great to be able to enjoy this ole footage. I just love Louis' playing, and hugely admire George's ability to sing & play so well together. Very rarely seem to hear them on the radio here these days, which is a shame, as I consider them superb funky, soulful talents. 'Underappreciated' is a bit of a cliche these days, but I can't help feeling that in the brothers' case it sadly seems applicable. Louis is sorely missed, may he rest in peace.
👍🏾💪🏾I saw them back in late 70's Columbia, SC Carolina Coliseum
What a time!!!
The trombonist took it to another level, boy.
it´s the cocaine bright bro.
You havehad to see them live to truly appreciate their musicianship They were amazing.

Your the reason I play the bass. Thank you for sharing your gift. You will be sorely missed. RIP THUNDER THUMBS.

Wow.. he was waaayyyy ahead of his time. Sheesh. Definitely one of the most electrifying performances of that time.
That BASS solo was off the HEEZY!!! I love it when a musician can take it there! So fun to listen to and watch! STOMP was powerfully executed as well! Im from the funk era! Nothing like some funky slap bass!!!
GOD LAWD!!!!!

Funk never dies it is eternal it just smells a little different from time to rime
The Funk ist on max in this one.

Get the Funk out ma face!
RIP Brother Louis
the funk the whole funk and nothin but the funk
A jazzed up version of a funk classic, second song sounds true to the pop song it is.
@Roland Bush Cause , like Rock came from Chicago Blues, Funk came from Jazz influence on R&b
Who is that fantastic drummer?
I like much more the live version...More funky and groovy
🎶🎵🎶💃💓🎶🎵💓💓💓💓💓
How would like your funk sir very funky very fine with the beat on the one my man.
Great gig!. what's the personnel on this one?
Sheesh
is that JR Robinson on the kit?
8.55 probably seems like a good idea when you're 25 & off your head on coke.
is that chicken george from roots....i mean 12:50
8:14 Brothers Johnson was from L.A. , right? . Was the wild 'Slap n thump' Bass style of Louis Johnson *influence for a young Flea* (RHCP)??
Yes, Louis although was not first with the slap technique, but, he definitely profected it and took it to another level.
Also an influence for Les Claypool and many others...
Loved the Brothers Johnson but not a fan of the live version of this song . Prefer the album version of this particular song.
