    You don't have to change the timing chain or the cam. I haven't seen any info on checking if timing chain is worn. If you have a hard time lining up timing marks, that would indicate a stretched chain.

    hey man great video. Im thinking about adding a big bore kit to it. Is a 88cc the biggest i can go? And what kind do you suggest? Thanks, Nolan

  • @HTMR
    @HTMR  12 років тому

    Chris, I don't know much about the engine you mentioned. A quick google search on "c70 e engine big bore" shows that it would work. Head over to planetminis, they may be able to point you in the right direction.

    Question I have a ct70.. 74.. I purchase a 88cc from dratv .. Bike turns on... After couple kicks . but after running starts smoking top end and will turn off and top end get hot more then normal oil temp is a 157f after it turns off? Also looks backfire stalls.. Bike doest smoke from exhaust! Have and idea what I did wrong.. Oh has a 19mm new carb.. An 91 octane.. Thanks...

    • @HTMR
      @HTMR  10 років тому

      Jaime, where is the smoke coming from? Oil temp of 157 is nothing to worry about. Sounds like you have to tune or rejet carb. Please explain in more detail on the stall.

    HI Matt, thanks for the very informative vid, my son is very excite about getting more power into his bike! couple of questions.. Should you replace the timing chain, or how do you know if it is worn out? do you need to upgrade the cam from stock when fitting a 88 kit? thanks again.Bernie

    I purchase the bike running working.... I wanted to rebuilt the motor . I purchase a 88cc from dratv . I did the rebuilt my self new gasket HV oil pump 2mm drill out casing stock head!! Bike turn on after couple kicks... Longer then when the motor was stock...? But it turns on!!! After like 15-20min it start to smoke top end not exhaust, like the bore and head get head more then normal I would say.. An it stall when I accelerate all the way like if it running out of gas? May the points are not set ? Timing is set tdc and the O on the MARK! Hmmmmm.. Any info will help thanks!

    • @HTMR
      @HTMR  10 років тому

      Is there an F mark? That is what is should be timed to. This will advance the timing some. Did you jet the carb?

    I just put the tb 88 kit on a 02 xr50r I am running into a problem to where the bike pulls hard in gear without touching the throttle. I played with jetting on a 20 mm carb still have the same issues I've read on threads but without any luck I cannot seem to figure out my problem any info will be appreciated

    • @HTMR
      @HTMR  7 років тому

      So the throttle is getting stuck?

    • @FoursquareT
      @FoursquareT 7 років тому

      MatthewMCRepair not at all there is about a quarter inch play in the throttle cable and it seats correctly. If I turn down the idle The bike will die before not pulling in first second or third gear.

    • @FoursquareT
      @FoursquareT 7 років тому

      MatthewMCRepair i've read that running lean can cause high idle but my spark plug is black. I've stuck bigger main and pilot jets in the carb with no luck

    • @HTMR
      @HTMR  7 років тому

      Is your pilot air screw responsive? How many turns out is it?

    • @FoursquareT
      @FoursquareT 7 років тому

      MatthewMCRepair 1 1/2 turns out. I have pilot jets from 30 to 45 the 38 is there right now if I go any bigger the spark plug get fouled quickly

    Hi Matt, do I need an bigger oil pump for this setup?
    My pump is an 50cc pump

    • @HTMR
      @HTMR  6 років тому

      They do recommend a Hv oil pump. This one was stock and running fine though.

  • @jarnogruintjes1427
    @jarnogruintjes1427 6 років тому

    do i have to take the oil out of the engine cuz ive just got some new oil in it, or can i just pour the almost new oil back in the engine after ive taken it out and instaled the 88cc?

    • @HTMR
      @HTMR  6 років тому

      You don't have to drain oil to do the top end. Yes you can drain clean oil into a clean container and reuse if it ever comes to that.
