Thank you for including historical and personal content in your video.
You gracefully and concisely described the cultural identity dilemma that many first generation born Chinese-Americans like us experience. I've struggled with this during my entire 59 years of life: I love being Chinese and American, yet I don't quite fit in with either.
And we feel enormous pressure to please our parents/elders and live up to their traditional Chinese expectations ... while at the same time yearn for a freeing and independent lifestyle that non-Chinese peers enjoy.
It's validating to hear you describe these same ... Thank you! 💜💜

Thank you so much for this kind comment, and it makes my heart whole to hear that this video resonated with you. It's beautiful how something that is simply "fashion" or "clothing" can open up deeper conversations related to our personal identities, and I think that understanding ourselves is one of the steps we take to better understand others. Thank you for watching, and taking the time to leave this comment. Means a ton!!

These were also very popular in the early 90s in ready to wear fashions like Le Chateau , Reitmens and Suzy Shier.
I used the term ready to wear wrong. Budget maybe? I want to call it Mall clothing LoL

I made it out of cotton fabric from Joann's (in the novelty fabrics section). And I got the pattern from Etsy, I got it from the seller mbchills: www.etsy.com/listing/1671626441/misses-dress-pattern-mccalls-7412?click_key=4782341b1b64ab5de4ad2f235df533847e6c116f%3A1671626441&click_sum=01555392&ga_search_query=oriental&ref=shop_items_search_13&sts=1
