I have a Strava friend in NY that purchased a Duarte recently. Like the design. Instead of buying new bikes I try to upgrade what I have. So, new wheels, components, etc.

Shouldn’t you love Walmart bikes? More people who will need service at some point. Why don’t you sell used bikes instead of tying up so much with new inventory?
They do provide a lot of maintenance work but I don’t like how the customers feel frustrated. Normal Walmart bike is between $125 to $200 to fix. When you just paid $150 to $300 for a bicycle and the bike shop guys charges you more, people get frustrated. Not a great customer experience.
His prices are totally reasonable and actually on the low end for good mechanical work nowadays. Sounds like you aren't familiar with the industry. Many shops are doing $90/hr or more.
I don't know what they charge where you are. But car mechanics are $200-$300hr. Bike mechanics aren't much cheaper. People commute on bikes instead of owning cars. 🤷♂️ So their rates seem reasonable to me.

Jeez look at those service charges. Are u running a car shop or a bike shop?
