Thank you so much for this video. My sunroof switch/knob sank inside and offer no grab to turn and the sunroof was stuck in tilt position. Luckily I found your video and fixed it.
Thanks for posting this - it's helpful. There are several other connectors on my car (3 total). You must also transfer the sunroof switch from the old unit.
Thanks Paul!! I took the 2 torx out behind the sunglasses holder and then started pulling on it like a Neanderthal. The switch for interior lights is shorting out, and if I smacked the roof, all the lights cut on. Wiggling the blue connection and they would cut off and work properly. I may pull the whole circuitry apart and re-solder all connections, or just find a replacement switch. Thanks again for this how to!
The whole disassembly process stopped for me exactly where it stopped for you, at 1:30. From the splice in your video (1:34) you also could not get the black connector off, (at least, you don't show how). Is there some kind of lock that needs to be lifted? A close-up how you disconnect that connector would be helpful. I ended up disassembling the sunroof switch which freed the rest of the assembly and left its wiring + connector dangling from the ceiling, while I repaired the burned-out dome light switch on my workbench.
Have you disconnected all the sunroof switch from the dome structure? If so, I'm planning to do the same. Was it easy to keep the wires connected, remove and install again with the wires and connectors plugged in?
This is perfect video for my 2009 VW passat 2.0T which is having sunroof not closing issue. I was able to open the roof console, thanks to you!! Can you please tell me what do I need to replace to fix sunroof non closing??
I have a 2013 vw beatle with a drivers side dome light which will not turn off. My Beatle has the sun roof (electric). Do you have any suggestions on how to fix?
very useful and detailed video. can you please urgently do a video for the MK6 R or GTI headliner removal and replacement please ? no one has such a video. i want to replace mine but dont want to start removing parts and end up hanging somewhere with hidden tricks or screws.
Great Video, thanks, I have a 2007 Passat Wagon with sunroof, and the dome light that should come on when unlocking the doors or opening the doors, is intermittent, touching the switch will make it come on momentarily, but the switch needs to be replaced. Do I need to buy the whole assembly as you have shown here, and replace it?. Do I need to swap my potentiometer into a new assembly and then replace as you have shown here? Do you sell the parts I need.
Hello, I am looking for Dome light Assembly, light sockets, little black sockets where you insert the light bulbs , where I can get one and what they called? and what would be the part number for those? Please help. Kind regards
I have a issue with my switch. I does work but the auto function for when the doors open is alittle bit shaky. I need to put it in a precise position for it to work. Should i replace the whole module? Or just try to open it up and look at the switch
can you show how to take the whole overhead console apart please, my overhead liner is coming off where the console is so that is why i'm asking for this favor.
Did you ever find the answer to that? My Passat B6 does not have them. They look like they might be photocells on a different version of the same console to maybe dim the lights.
On my jetta the "plate" you take off randomly swung open a few days ago while driving, ive never messed with it before at all and now it wont close, i think the little latches on it broke off somehow. Does anyone know where i can purchase this part?
1:29 why would you edit this part out? Disconnecting the sunroof switch cable was the most difficult part, and it was the reason why I searched, found, and watched this video, only to find that you edited out the part where you actually disconnected the sunroof cable connector. Thanks for nothing! For future watchers, the secret is that there is an 'under-lip' at the wire-end of the connecter. Use a small flat metal screwdriver to use the under lip as leverage to force-push the cable away from the socket.
@@danielgorzel7222 you disconnected all the sunroof switch from the dome structure? If so, I'm planning to do the same. Was it easy to keep it connected and remove from the old and install again?
I believe you take the assemble down, as shown, and then twist the socket. then you can replace the bulbs. -- the video should have shown that, since that is 99%! of the reason people would look at this video.
