Great job on the build. I recently built a 40 x 60 pole barn by myself (I'm 70 yrs old), and I can tell you getting up on that metal roof was a challenge. Getting down was easy when the humidity in the evenings turned to ice. I used 4x4's but it's not holding up to the winds so I'm in process of changing them out to 6x6's. Only 5 more to go....
You can use an old couch cushion foam on the roof for added traction. Gives more surface area that creates friction = no exhilarating rides 🤣. Works way better on shingle roofs but helps on metal.
I put a safety rail at the bottom of my metal roof when I work up there. Is a great comfort and my stuff doesn’t fall off. I found low top rubber muck boots work well to stick on if the roof is dry. I found rubber knee pads that stick too. My knees are bad along with my back. I also made wooden ladders and screwed them in instead of the aluminum ladder. I think I had 9 ladders at one time.
Well done, Barn looks outstanding, fit and finish are harmonious and fit well into surroundings, and this adds to overall feel of project. When I watched earlier videos I was not sure you had the skill set needed to finish this project. You have surprised me and deserve congratulations for a job skillfully finished and well designed. Monitor barns are the nicest. Was thinking when you nailed up the trim on the underside of the door opening, I would have started in the middle to push that bow out to the sides. Not sure that would matter… just what I thought as I was watching. Great job man!
Great job building that pole barn, wish me luck on when I start working on my pole barn. Is going built going built a pole barn , my old pole barn got blowed away about first of the year. It was like a 40x40 not to big but had it about 25 years good old pole barn . Keep up the good work showing and telling how to build them barn’s. And we’ll see ya next time see ya bye.
Great build I'm getting ready to start a pole barn just like it hopefully! I think I'll leave the extra 1or 2,000 lbs of nails out though because... you use a lot of nails man. Lol. My dad used to jump my ass he'd say "come on man you need just enough nails, not way too many"... And I was always like "how the hell am I supposed to know how many, I'm new at this!" Good times working with pops! Man i miss him😢
Hello is there anyway I could get plans for this exact bar by 102 year-old barn burned down last week and we are devastated when I saw your video. I knew this is exactly what we wanted to replace it with. I have already sourced my local tree service man who has a bandsaw and I would like plans for this building to keep my material waste down
I know it's a pole barn, and not the garage you built for your dad, but after covering with the battens are these style barns fairly water tight afterward?
Hey thanks for watching! I did 16” soffit on this barn as well as 18-20” gable over hangs. So honestly there hasn’t been a lot of rain contact on any of the board or battens yet. But there is about 1-1.5” of overlap on the batten so it’s pretty water tight
Yes where can I find the Blue Prints for this barn? I am wanting to replace an old barn my grandfather had built years ago. It finally fell down in a heavy wet snow about 10 years ago, and this is perfect. I may extend the length to 60ft though.
Truly informative! I needed a reference that highlighted basic wood frame construction methods & techniques where ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxYGamVaHfdHiPlAQaLa7zkwR02OKpGYDU were best. I am pleased with the depth and clarity of Ryan’s Shed Plans. It was really convenient to capture!
A great way to get traction on metal roof. Spray down with a cheap clear soda. Sticky till it rains.
That’s an excellent idea! Thanks for the tip 👍🏻
Genius man!

Valtteri Bottas just retired and became an awesome wood builder. Amazing Valtteri!!

Saving this series for future motivation. I built an inground pool last year on my own, I would love a pole barn like yours,! Dont ever sell it!
They do sell boots that have magnets in them that are made specifically for metal roofing. Pretty nice boots, but a bit expensive.
Great work. Looks like a shed anyone could be proud of.
Thanks for watching!
Have enjoyed the video series. Barn looks great and fits the surroundings. Hope you never have to clean the windows.
Thanks you. I’m not sure if window cleaning will get done often lol.
Man, you have built such a beautiful building, kudos!

Thank you of course best of luck with the build
@@ProjectDadLife right on for the reply, have a great one see ya bye.
I have enjoyed watching the barn build series. Great job
Awesome, thank you!

Batons really finished the look. Great work man!
Super job in planning and build, So happy to tag alongside with your project!! Nice!! Thanks and best ...pops
I really like board and batten
my favoritre
Great work, very impressed at the build and the budget. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for your support
Work boots are the worst thing for roofing. Old fashion tennis shoes with crepe sole are the best. In Australia we wore Dunlop volleies.
The muscles are extroidinary.. just sayin😂love the pole barn ive built a few this ones done right.. the side entry is a must.. great work!
Great work men!!
Spent so much on nails because you drove like 10 in per batten lol
Looks awesome! Enjoyed the series
Haha true! But this green pine gets crazy twisty when drying out!
Need that on yellow pine
Nice project.
Thanks!!
Very nice!
Thanks!

This may have been asked already but what are the wall heights?
The shed roof walls are 8’ and the center wall is about 15’

Do y’all have carpenter bees? 🐝
How do y’all protect the barn from stuff like that? Building ours and already fighting them on the posts
Are the build plans available for this barn somewhere?
Yes, I would like to know that also!
Very nice ! Where did you find the blueprint for the barn ? Tia

Awesome build man!, what brand tool belt is that?
Now get out the valspar.
If that level is 6ft then you’re 4ft lol
