Great video! Loved the ASMR popcorn and the setting! I have never read this book or seen the Disney adaptation, but I’m doing a movie project with my brother, where we are starting from the beginning of all the Disney movies ever made, and working our way up to the most recent, so I hope to watch this some day. We’re only in the 1950s so far so it might be a while :D. I enjoyed hearing your thoughts about this and I think this will be an instance where I should probably see the movie before I read the book so I’m not as disappointed in the movie. 😂 🍿 🎥

Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the movies! I wonder if we’ll have any of the same favorites! It always trips me up when I realize some of the ones I loved that “came out” when I was little were actually just touched up releases of the ones my mom watched when she was little, like 101 Dalmatians. You can always tell cause the credits are at the beginning instead of the end if it’s older.

Haha, so true...those beginning credits! I love the detailed animation of Pinocchio and the watercolor feel of Dumbo. It was fun to see some of the older ones I've never seen like Saludos Amigos, The Three Caballeros, Melody Time and Fun and Fancy Free. Bambi will always be one of my favorites (that was the first movie I saw at the drive-in)! So nostalgic! Of course, most of them are offense in some ways and I'm glad Disney has that disclaimer on them now showing they acknowledge that, but it's pretty cool to watch them in chronological order and see how the animation, set designs and production evolved! :) @@gingerbibliophile

@@bookstalgic I love Disney, but I don’t think even I’ve seen half of those. The first movie I remember seeing in theaters was Thumbalina. I’ve only been to a drive in once but I can’t remember what we watched. It’s fun seeing the changes between Pinocchio and something newer like Encanto or Turning Red. Bambi is one of those sad ones I refuse to watch now. Like walking out when I know the Mufasa scene is coming 😂

@@gingerbibliophile I loved Thumbelina and loved it even more when I found out she had the same voice actor as Ariel!

@@bookstalgic I never realized Jodi Benson was Thumbelina! I’ll have to find it somewhere to watch! I remember loving it when I was little but don’t actually have it. Hope it holds up better than some of the other childhood favorites 😅

I didn’t realize it was based on a book, though it’s not really surprising. Honestly, it’s one of the few Disney movies I haven’t watched at least 100x Very fun first adaptation! Can’t wait to see what movie you pick next!

I think the style worked better this time around, or at least it did for viewers as it got more views than any of the previous adaption discussions I did in the past. The books are better (obviously), but the movie is a fun piece of dark animation. Thanks for watching! :)

@@Man-With-a-Hat-Who-Reads the style was fun. I feel like books should be better, but I have a rant coming soon as the book version got DNF’d’ for the one I had planned next. I hated all the “heroes”. I should’ve vlogged it instead of making my poor boyfriend listen on the way home every day 😅 Glad you enjoyed both the book and underrated movie! Hope your love the next one too, whatever it ends up being! Excited to see what movies you get into with this series!

I read the books in my early teens and loved them. I looked forward to the movie as an adult but was disappointed in it in relation to the books. Now with a decent CGI team there could be a good live action set of movies based on the series. They even have a “princess” in the books (It’s been some years since the last time I read them so I don’t remember her actual status.) fitting it into the Disney realm even better.

Exactly! They could make an amazing remake if they did it well. I keep holding out hope that it will happen someday. I am not necessarily against the changes they made, as a movie of the first book alone would be pretty short, but combining the two and actually taking time for the story would be ideal. Thanks for watching! :)

I read the books 50+ years ago and thought the series was The Lord of the Rings reimagined.

It does have that feel at times, but I think a lot of the fantasy felt that way back then. The Sword of Shannara especially feels like a Lord of the Rings rehash. Thanks for watching! :)
