- In this video I will provide a brief review of multiple ryobi tools (old and new). Since the introduction of lithium batteries it has changed my view of this tool line. In future videos I will provide detailed reviews of all tools in this video.

I've been a contractor for over 35 years now. I remember many years back, Ryobi tools were not so good, but they have come a very long way since then. The One Plus Lithium line tools are quite good and priced right. While they might be just a tick behind the really high-end tools, the difference is now slight and the price more than makes up for that. I have accumulated a good chunck of the Ryobi One Plus tools in my home shop and work them hard, and they have served me very well. Ryobi is owned by the same company who makes Milwaukee, Ridged, and many other brands. Unless you just have money to blow, this is the way to go.
I love these tools. Got many & work great.
Ridgid is dead lmao.
I use my ryobi all the time there impressive and now that their brushless stuff is on sale I’m using the brushless line the most I love my ryobi great review
I'm a self employed carpenter and i bought one of the Ryobi 18v tool kits when they first came out over 15 years ago because i got tired of paying a fortune for Dewalt batteries. I've had very good luck with them over the years and i use them a lot! My original reciprocating saw (like the one in the video) finally messed up yesterday while cutting thru shingles and osb on a roof. Today i took it apart and opened the gearbox (which is all metal, btw) and found that the grease had completely dried up. So i packed it full of wheel bearing grease and slapped it back together and now it's running like a sewing machine again! And you are correct the old tools work much better with the new batteries which is something i cant do with the Dewalts because they change the battery design every few years to force the customers to buy new tools.
History Rambler Mark thanks for your comment and watching!
I'm a flooring contractor w/ 20+ years experience, some of the things my crew uses on a daily basis are the brad nailer, the crown stapler, hot glue gun and the little bluetooth radio. The brad nailer and stapler are especially well made. Even Milwaukee which i started to collect tools from now doesn't have a replacement cordless crown stapler that shoots long staples nor do they have a hot glue gun, which I absolutely need for putting up vinyl cove base. Until then i'll be using these Ryobi tools and all the people saying its junk and you can't get good results must not know how to use them or something. I also use that ryobi 1/2in impact to take the lug nuts off my work truck, no problem, thing is a beast, I was amazed.
History Rambler Mark very good point about same batteries.
in here ryobi batteries cost more than real milwaukee batteries
Ryobi reciprocating saws are pretty tough. I burned up the brushless motor in a kobalt reciprocating saw in no time cutting up pallets. Thing drained batteries way faster than my brushed Ryobi. My ryobi has been through way more torture than the kobalt. It's getting pretty loose in the output but the business are only a couple of dollars through Ryobi.
I own most of these tools and can confirm your remarks are SPOT ON. I sold off all my DeWalt, Milwaukee and Hitachi gear and replaced it with Ryobi One+. That's not to say the yellow, red and dark green tools aren't great - they are - it's just that the Ryobi is 98% of the same performance at half the price. And now I have 10x the tools!

Ryobi is the best!
@@northstarmn eh I'd say like 3rd.
Dewalt is 1st makita is 2nd and ryobi is 3rd. Milwaukee doesn't exist to me.
2 years ago I sold off my blue Ryobi set at my yard sale. Nothing worked worth a darn.
Recently wondered if the newer Lithium batteries would have made a difference. You answered that question!
I will reconsider them for future buys. Thanks for the video
The lithium batteries make the old blue tools much better, but the new green ones are significantly better.
Good tools , good video , and a great feel to it . Just subscribed , so thanks.
I have a number of Ryobi tools and I can speak highly for them all. Two of my favorites that you didn't review are the battery powered 5-1/2 inch circular saw and the angle grinder . I have five acres and when I'm on the lower end of my property and need to cut some plywood, or slice through a piece of metal with the grinder (using a metal cutting blade), battery powered tools are perfect. Ryobi is a good company that creates really good tools at reasonable prices.
2:37 "first tool I brought on Milwaukee new line" is this not a ryobi video
Lol, I had a little Aneurysm when he said that
Cut the guy some slack. Whys everyone gotta be a perfectionist or nit picker? Great video my friend
I started with Ryobi with the old Blue tools then went on to the green ones. Never had a failure with them and had them all. Best bang for the buck out there! Have Dewalt and Milwaukee now but still have some Ryobi. The router is great! I got it because it was one of the first out. It is about $70 where as Dewalts is $150 (on sale). The nail guns is great. The little one gallon compressor is awesome! Capable of driving nailers! The glue gun is soo useful I use it all the time mock up templates and keep finding uses for it. Their batteries are about half of other brands.
Great review! Love my Ryobi tools.
I watched the whole video because you seem like a really cool dude which is rare on UA-cam. Thanks for the info!
Bixby Moto thanks for watching! I really appreciate your kind words.
I am making the change from Craftsman 19.2 to Ryobi. I wish the batteries were interchangeable. Don't want to give up my collection. Watching your video to change my mind.
Nice 'quick' review. I hope you dig into the tools individually as well!
I started off buying a portable mister that used ryobi batteries and so later on I bought another mister plus a extra batteries cuz they were on sale. A couple of years later I ended up with the brushless drill impact combo, weed eater, two fans, shop blower, angle grinder, 6 port battery port charger, air compressor, shop vacuum and the new jet fan blower. They have been great so far no complaints. It’s a good deal when you can get the home depot specials
I like the 18v One+ tools, I have several, but I went to the 40v system for my outdoors tools. I have a 40v push mower that has held up fine for 3 years so far. Also a line trimmer, hedge trimmer, chain saw for small quick work and a leaf blower. All work just fine. I haven't pull started a 2 cycle gas engine or lawn mower in almost 3 years. I'll never go back to gas engines for lawn tools.
Great soy boy, save the 0planet
@@therealbigfoot3076 wow, that's got to be the fuckin stupidest remark I've read in a long time LOL
Nice to know that about the super charger, I also was under the impression it charged multiple batteries at once, and thought I could get rid of my other chargers. Guess I could keep the other ones and use the super charger for overnight chargings.
I bought the supercharger thinking the same thing. I ended up selling it and reverting to using three of the fast chargers in my shop.
@@johnvodopija i kept mine. 2 years later its still useful. Especially when I got multiple batteries going at once. I have two other chargers I got over the years, so I can having three batteries charging simultaneously.
I have a number of one+ Ryobi tools as well as several of their corded tools (Hammer drill, chain saw, hedge trimmer, 1/2" Impact, hard surface sweeper, circle saw, miter/chop saw, sander, and jig saw). Not a single issue in over 8 years. I use all 4ah batteries now. They have a TON more power than the smaller batteries... even from the start on a new charge. I have not tried their larger batteries yet. They make them up to 9ah!
The weed eater did finally die a few years after I gave it to the father-I-law. He was using it to weed eat his entire yard it turns out. I fixed his mower and he got another weed eater he liked it so much. He has a small yard.
I now have an acre surrounded by a deep ditch. So I got a weed eater with a motor.
thank you great video, just wish all of those tools were available in Australia
Bro I'm jelly of your collection!
Thanks for sharing this information. I've been debating whether to get Ryobi or Kobalt. I'm leaning towards the Ryobi because of cost mostly also good reviews on the impact driver. New subscriber, keep up the great video
Rodney Widger thanks for watching, and subscribing!
You be sorry with ryibi.
Although I like the Kobalt, with Lowes buying Craftsman, they're trimming down their selections of Kobalt and the isles are full of red. Not sure I'd keep investing in their battery platform.
@@martymeyer4125 Stanley black and Decker owns Craftsman not Lowe's. Lowe's was just one of the first distributors they used to sell them. You can actually get Craftsman at Menards as well
Nice video. I'm in the market for a narrow crown stapler and while doing the research, discovered that besides the Porter Cable 20v Max, I also have another system that supports a stapler - the Ryobi One+ system, It's a drill with 3 batteries, charger and case. The batteries are the P100 Nicads, and it's an old tool from my father, who doesn't do any work anymore. I'm afraid I've kind of thought of it as a dinosaur POS, but every time I use it, it kind of surprises e. I me. It performs well, despite being a bit heavy. I'm quite surprised that Ryobi has kept their batteries current thru the years, they're the only one to my knowledge. That's a very powerful positive for them. Anyway, the Ryobi P360 is a very unique and well built stapler by all accounts, and I think Ryobi has picked Porter Cable's pocket on this one. If I'm going to invest in another system or batteries at this point, I think it's going to be an upgrade to the One+ system. I'll buy the stapler now, and add the lipo batteries and charger down the road.
Thanks for the well made, informative and interesting video. You have a new sub!
You have missed out if you have not utilized the Ryobi Air Strike Narrow Crown Staple gun (a variation of the 18 ga brad nailer). Extremely useful with a variety of materials. I recently used it to install 5/16" plywood, crown molding, trim, etc. Try it, you won't regret it and it might replace the fan as your favorite Ryobi tool.
Wow a good collection!
Enjoyed your review
I must say i do like your work bench
Great stuff dude! I love my Ryobi tools. Super reasonable prices and they have worked great for me.
Ryobi tools are excellent for what they are. They’re generally half to a third the price of Milwaukee/DeWalt/Makita and while they don’t equal them in terms of performance they are almost all adequate to do the job and they seem to last.
Its winter now, but I might have to get that fan next spring...
Just like with ANY TOOL, if you know the limitations of a tool it most effective. Most think it’s all about power when it’s not. It’s about letting the tool do the work and don’t force it to do more than it can all at once.
Great job 😁
The new Ryobi BRUSHLESS line are really, really good tools, well thought out. That said, in order to get the maximum performance from the Ryobi brushless, you MUST pair them with the 18V +ONE "HP" batteries for which they are made. Again, make SURE the batteries are the HP, not the older 18V +ONE. They must say "HP"
Marko Grishan thanks for the comment! Good information, don’t forget to subscribe!
I have the Ryobi brushless circular saw and angle grinder, and I agree about them working MUCH better on the "HP" batteries. Far fewer tool cutoffs.
Some of the other Ryobi brushless tools dont seem to be as sensitive to the battery selection, but the ones that see a lot of load are.
I have two 6ah HPs, and a 9ah on the way. The big batteries make a huge performance difference in all these tools...
The brushless grinder definitely needs the HP batteries. But the brushless belt sander is definitely usable on the 4ah non hp batteries.
Mostly true, not all of Ryobi's brushless tools are able to communicate with the HP batteries.
Even with non-brushless tools they make a huge difference. With my pole saw, the included standard lithium battery doesn't have nearly the power when used with my 9.0 + HP batteries. The lithiums have 3 states, standard black cased lithiums, lithium +, and lithium + HP, the second two are what you want to run in pretty much anything that takes a lot of juice.
The fan will slowly drain the battery over about three to four days when turned off if you leave the battery in, i think the "Hybrid" circuitry design needs some tweaking. I have let Ryobi know about it but they responded by saying they don't recommend leaving the battery in any tool anyway. Still a great fan though, glad i bought it for the price.
I just buy a impact wrench R18lw and in the 3-rd power setting in making a lot of sparkles inside de motor brushes and smell bad. Sometime the sparkles jump outside the tool. I dont know if that's normal, but i dont think so!
I comented in a joke way buddy ...alls cool i liked the video . You got some great tools there man
Bob Thorn okay, thanks for watching!
I love my ryobi cordless caulk gun...way cheaper than other brands and works great...the caulk stops the second you release the trigger...unlike hand operated caulk guns where it keeps oozing out.
Do you have a model number for the quiet strike impact? I can't find it on Home depot's site, thanks
I'm on my second P2090 string trimmer in four uses. I hope this next one holds up. Sad part is Ryobi isn't known for making quality power tools but I liked the trimmer so much I bought it anyway. I'll hold off on anymore 18 volt ONE+ System tools until this new trimmer proves itself as being reliable. I also have the electric edger (for one week) but I haven't opened it yet and I won't until I know the trimmer will last. If it doesn't I'm taking both back and asking for a refund and buying something else. I really what the trimmer to work, as far as design goes you can't beat it and that's why I bought it.
Get the brushless 15"
Look at it like a horse ranch. Batteries are the horses and tools are the riders. In a day/week/month/year's time the horses can be used by several different riders. Just don't put a heavy rider on too small of a horse(unless all you need is a short ride). My 1.5Ah batt is on the LED flashlight but can "carry" a few other tools,my 4Ah batt is on the impact driver but can carry most other tools,my 6Ah batteries can carry any tool and for a longer time. I'm thinking of adding a "Clydesdale"(9Ah) or two to the stable but not until they are proven and the price comes down. If you have a variety of tools it's nice to have a variety of batt sizes, but,a couple 4AH batts would do for most needs.
I bought a couple 9.0's a week or two ago from Direct Tools for $75 a pop new. Much better than the list price at Home Depot.
@@kylesonsalla7620 I see some bad reviews of Direct Tools. Not sure I would ever try them.

Im liking all of these tools. Just not a fan of that charger. Is there a charging bank that will charge multiple batteries at once?
M.D.S. Not sure? If there is one I haven’t seen it
When you charge the batteries when fully charged Will it completely turn off so it doesn't burn out your batteries because i will wait till fully charged And turn the charger of manually at the socket or can i go to bed And not worry about them.

Have you tried the 18v brushless chainsaw? I'm interested in it but I can't decide.
I have tried I also purchase the tool I have video with that tool but is in Romanian.
I've had one for over a year now. The 40V Ryobi chainsaw is a much better saw and it is often cheaper than the 18V, but I opted for the 18V because I am trying to stay with just the 18V tools. I used it today to cut up a very large fallen Willow limb (about 15 inches at the base), and it worked very well. Last year I cut some seasoned Elm (extremely hard stuff), that was t0 inches in diameter. It's not a fast cutting saw, but it does work well when used properly. What I've found is to use the largest battery you can afford and don't push the saw, let it cut at its own pace and you should be happy with it. Also, remember to keep the chain sharp!
I'm a fan of ryobi but recently I've been having issues with the saw not cutting through basic 2x4 with out stopping or creating smoke from the wood is there something I'm doing or is it time to switch brands
Terrell Man thanks for your comment. Are you using a guide? If the blade is not straight it will bind and and do what you stated above. Try changing the blade and use a guide. Also are you using lithium batteries? Take care and subscribe!
Sounds like a dull blade
Tighten the blade

In U.K. it seems no matter what you are buying a £ sign is just added instead of say the $ sign which dramatically increases the price regardless of exchange rate . On top of this you 20% value added tax on anything above £15 !
I think you said $95 for the air strike, here the absolute minimum for bare tool is £150, but more likely £195 !
I always try to find sale prices ,which can still be high . Unfortunately just missed an Airstrke yesterday sold at £60 !! Absolute bargain for some lucky person ! I love Riyobi tools !
Sorry $120 /130 !
Do u kno if ryobi cumin out with a new brushless impact wrench in soon
Probobly, Ryobi has a brushless impact wrench in Australia right now but it's a smaller model based on their impact driver with the same power as their current brushed model. I hope the American market gets a heavy duty model with a lot more power.
Good quality for the price, they are almost as good as Kobalt and Kobalt is like twice the price if you were to buy a large set, also in the Riyobi sets you get two batteries one being the high capacity
Yes i like the airstrike
Milwaukee or Ryobi?
The supercharger only charges one battery at a time? Wow, glad I knew that before I bought one. In that case you're far better off using a handful of the single fast chargers if you need to charge while you work.
The point of the super charger is put 6 batteries in go to bed when you wake up all are charged. Instead of needing to wake up every hour to swap batteries. And to charge 6 batteries at the same time will be a 1000 watt charger
@@jalee6587 I understand that, I'm talking about charging while working with high drain tools. 1000 watts isn't much, most fan heaters are 2000 watts. It would be possible to have 6 batteries charging at once at 1.5 amps which is what the fast chargers put out.

The router is $75. There's no way you got it for $35. However, you can get it for "free" if you add it on to one of the bigger sets of the tools. The sanders are both $45. I agree that Ryobi tools are good bang for the buck, but they don't all cost only $35 like you seem to be suggesting here. They're affordable, but not THAT affordable.

For all the hype I have read on brushless motors I have yet to be impressed. Those from Milwaukee and Kobalt seem to drain batteries faster than their bruised counterparts. Battery technology definitely has made cordless tools very practical but brushless tools, not so much.

I gave up on Ryobi tools , The tools are fine but the batteries suck . At $100 for a battery I would think they would last longer than 6 months . My last battery finally died and I gave about 14 tools away . Over a period of 18 years I went through over 40 batteries , they would no longer take a charge . So don't say I didn't give Ryobi a chance.
The original batteries I got when purchasing my first set over 5 years ago still work great. In the meantime, as my collection has grown, I've acquired another 12 or so batteries - everything from the 1.5ah to the new HP 6ah and a couple even came out of refurb kits. Never had any problems with any of them. If you're going through them fast maybe it's got to do with how you're using, storing or charging them? Lithium batteries have a very specific care regimen to get the most out of them. I just don't think bad luck explains your experience.
Even my old NiCad Ryobi batteries still work & charge. I've only had 1 18v lithium battery quit on me in several years. But I have two of the super chargers and leave the batteries plugged in when not in use.
I'm happy the batteries worked for you, My experience was not good and I'm just saying don't get to invested in the ryobi tools until you have a chance to test them out for a while. Out of around15 or 16 batteries none work today and so I gave away my ryobi tools to a friend who was still using them.

I had at least 10 chargers maybe more so I don't think the chargers had anything to do with the batteries failing . I was so invested with these tools I kept buying batteries. When the last battery quit I said enough is enough . I gave every tool away to contractors I worked with that were

Bob Thorn no one is perfect not my first mistake and won’t be the last. FYI this was my first video ever.
@@livefreeandtoolon - Milwaukee and Ryobi are both owned by TTI so not too far off the mark!
Yeah it's called a simple mistake
My second trimmer started doing the same damn thing! Ryobi is total garbage and I took back the trimmer, edger and the two new 4ah HP batteries for full refunds! Everyone reading this you've been warned.
You get what you paid for there's no free money... 4 of my Ryobi tool are dead I bought in the last 3yrs that includes 6ah battery. The yellow and red tools I bought 15yrs ago None of them dead...
