    Pickleball Pros Zane Navratil and Jack Munro took on a pair of 5.0-rated amateurs in a match that pitted vintage against modernity. Navratil and Munro, renowned for their agility and finesse, wielded wooden paddles reminiscent of pickleball’s early days, while their opponents brandished the latest in modern paddle technology.
    Jack Munro's pickleball journey began unexpectedly at the age of 10, sparked by a shoulder injury while playing baseball. This injury led Munro to discover pickleball, and he quickly became obsessed with the sport. Jack ventured into local tournaments and rapidly ascended the ranks, ultimately becoming the youngest 5.0 (pro at the time) player in the world.
    Jack has passionately embraced pickleball, establishing himself as one of the nation's top pickleball prospects.
    In 2023, Munro won the English Open Gold Medal in Men's Doubles with Rob Nunnery and followed it up with a Gold Medal at the 2024 APP New York event in Doubles with Mario Barrientos. Jack is also a member of the prestigious APP Next Gen National Team, a group of 12 elite players selected to participate in APP events across the United States and compete in international tournaments like the English Open.
    Beyond his competitive achievements, Jack is the founder of the Longhorn Pickleball Club at the University of Texas at Austin. This club provides a platform for both amateur enthusiasts to enjoy the social aspects that enhance pickleball experiences for competitive players to travel and participate in national-level competitions.
    Zane Navratil has etched his name in the annals of the sport's history with a resplendent display of skill and tenacity.
    Affectionately dubbed "Gucci" by players and commentators alike, Navratil's moniker serves as a testament to his unparalleled mastery of the game. With over 80 medals adorning his illustrious career, Zane's journey from amateur enthusiast to professional remains nothing short of inspirational.
    Navratil's odyssey into the world of pickleball commenced amidst a backdrop of varied athletic pursuits, including a burgeoning love affair with tennis. Introduced to the sport at the tender age of 10, Zane's affinity for tennis blossomed, culminating in a trifecta of Wisconsin state championships for The Prairie School from 2012 to 2014.
    Navratil embarked on a relentless pursuit of pickleball excellence. Transitioning from amateur enthusiast to full-time professional in 2020, Navratil's ascent through the ranks has been meteoric, cementing his status as one of the preeminent figures in the global pickleball pantheon.
    Beyond his formidable prowess on the court, Zane's impact transcends mere competition. A fervent advocate for the sport's growth and accessibility, Navratil traverses the country, imparting his wisdom and expertise through immersive pickleball clinics.
    In a realm where every stroke is imbued with the promise of triumph, Zane's legacy endures as a beacon of inspiration for aspirants and aficionados alike looking to enhance pickleball enjoyment beyond their normal capacity.

    This my friend is my favorite one thus far. This has been a discussion with player's and their view is paddles have a big impact on winning with regards to that Jolla illegal paddle. Anyways my view is its the player that wins points, not the paddle. Yes there is a difference in feel and power in a paddle but if you hit it out or the net, it doesn't matter if you have a $10 wood paddle or a $250 paddle if you don't have touch and or shot mechanics. It didn't take too long to adjust as watching you two make good resets and dinks with the wood paddle. So ya, loved this video because you guys definitely proved me right.
    My video request even tho it probably isn't fair is for the pro's play with their opposite playing hand. It will be fun to watch your commentary on the match. You're always making funny remarks and sarcastic comments which make great content. You're awesome dude, keep making these videos,
    Tommy lee

    One time I was half-heartedly dinking to warm up with an overweight 70 year old (who is actually pretty decent at pickleball considering), and we were challenged by a couple super fit 24 year old tennis players who had only played pickleball a handful of times. They both had the same kind of wooden paddles that Zane/Jack had in this video, while we both had Electrum Model E's (this was 2022). We golden pickled them the first game, and they fumed "it's just because you guys have those fancy paddles and we're playing with this cheap shit!" So obviously I offered to switch paddles in a rematch. We won 11-0 again. I offered to mix up the teams. but they just silently walked to their cars. I've never seen them again.

      As a I'm a barefoot runner I can assure that you are actually much less likely to roll/twist your ankles after getting used to move around barefooted. There are reasons that ballet dancers, gymnasts, ... don't wear thick sole shoes or shoes at all while performing. The hardest thing to do barefoot is stopping and sliding. I could never develop enough sole thickness for sliding, but I have seen barefoot runners who can crush small pieces of broken glasses with their feet and pretty sure they would have no problem doing it. I would say I'm about 80% in tennis and 90% in PB barefooted compare to having shoes.

    • @BlGSac
      @BlGSac 2 місяці тому

      @chubun6631 Yeah sure, but this is a challenge. Pros who aren't barefoot people that are always using court shoes are challenged to not wear shoes, they don't have developed calluses to "crush glass, let alone stop on a dime, they can't slide, they can't do many of the fundamentals that are required in pro/high level pickleball that's a fact. You also bring up running which is forward and back, no side to side movement as often, ballet dancers which are required to feel the ground and if they are wearing their shoes have a very thick and flat toe box, gymnast which doesn't require it, because you need more toe stability on the bars. These are not comparable comparisons and it requires an extremely niche and rare group of Pros, which I'm afraid do not exist in Pro Pickleball

    • @chubun6631
      @chubun6631 2 місяці тому

      @@BlGSac Totally agree. You will need to retrain the way you move. But once you do, you will be much more stable comparing to when you wear shoes. I'm pretty sure gymnasts will very likely to break their ankles if they wear shoes in a floor exercise.
