One of my personal least favorite goalies to learn from. Here’s something I’ve heard over and over again; “if the save amazes everyone (not just goalies) with how flashy it is, you did something wrong.” Almost all of fleurys saves since he went to Vegas seem like that
@@traceinnet5558 I believe that your point has truth to it, however, Fleury is one of the smaller goal tenders at only 6’0 compared to guys like Jacob Markstrom who are closer to 6’7. This height disadvantage creates a few more opportunities than larger goalies for NHL level shooters. I think that this is where Fleury’s acrobatic and agile style comes into play and creates for some “flashy saves.” I think that this is needed as restriction on goalie gear gets tighter, like the chest protector size rule that came into affect in the last few years making smaller goalies like Marc even smaller causing him to reply on his fast reflexes and movement speed. I personally love Fleury for this very reason. He gives the audience a show. Every time he steps on the ice you know you will be entertained. I think his 3 Stanley cups speaks for his success and play style.
I am a NJ Devils fan. Sunday evening I attended a home game against the Minnesota Wild. I would love it if you did a goalie breakdown of Marc-André Fleury. He is very fun to watch as goalie. Fleury is very smooth and poised in his movements.
Thatcher Demko next? Great recommendation and love that you included comps and quality statistics! I will keep that in mind, but I will do goalies from a few other teams first since Markstrom was already completed, but it would be fun to do a comparison of the two Canucks goalies!
I was a goalie started late at the age of 18 and within 3 years I was playing at a competitive level. What mainly got my game to the high level was watching highlights. Just observing and understanding the tactical movements helps. It's all about foot work = mobility and good reads, if your got those two areas you won't need to rely on your reflexes only for tip ins. Oh and size and flexibility goes a long way and failure helps a ton cause you learn from your mistakes. I swear if I played from a young age, I would of made it to the NHL maybe.
It’s possible, but you are also more mentally and physically developed, helping you learn quicker, and also you didn’t peak or get burnt out at a young age bc of that. Still respect ur clearly talented
@@RGP43_ Thank you so much. My buddy dad was a hockey dad and the coach so my buddy eventually ended up hating the game due to his dad being so controlling. There were times he looked like he was gonna kill my friend for deciding to miss a game just to hang out longer with us but his dad eventually found us near his house and was cursing at him viciously. His slumped shoulders slow walk was easy to see and I still remember the how fast his dad sped off, wouldn't have surprise me if his dad ran red lights to make it to the ice rink.
@@GateKeeper36 damn. i got alot of crazy parents on the teams ive played on and i am seeing hwo such incredible young players are just losing their drive cause of it. im personally losing my drive even though i just started playing AAA for the first time, im 15. got my first tier 1 shutout today though so thats cool.
Could you do Connor Hellebuyck next? To my untrained eye he SEEMS to be unbalanced on his feet a lot of the time and makes weird saves but he won the vezina so I'd love to hear what you think!
He also plays the puck with confidence and skill outside the crease. So far in the 2022 play offs he has three assists. And only 2 penalty minutes. Goalies should get penalties in the play offs, or it just wouldn't be cricket.
Great work as always! If I may make a request, please do a video on goalies with more flaws in their game. Mistakes are the best teachers.
Great video, I've been waiting for this one for a while. Glad there will be more content coming.
I hope you post again I’d love to see you come back and do another goalie or even players
I completely forgot about you then this came up in my recommended. Ty for coming back
Thanks for making another video. Glad you came back!
Love this series! Please do Marc-André Fleury next!!!

I would love to see a goalie Breakdown of Blackwood, or Martin Jones
Since you've done Shesterkin, you should also do Georgiev too.
Giorgiev was rumored to be let go to make more cap room. I trust Drury know matter what at this point.
