There is such a need for these men in Louisiana State Prison Angola to be given a second chance. These men are incredible and many are first, first time offenders. Thanks to Burl Cain for his work to help these men find God and give them ways to educate and make men of these people. Louisiana needs to change some laws. God bless these and other men.
Angola is the Serpent stronghold, but JESUS is able to penetrate even there. I have a loved one that is incarcerated in Angola, and living for Christ Jesus is hard there when you have guards that really go out of their way to make it hard for them. As I understand it, “life,” in Louisiana is 40 years. It used to be 60 years & even prior to that, life meant never to get out. My dad has been in for 1st degree murder. His sentence was die by electrocution. Law changed & his sentence then went to life. He’s served 44 years. The Governor/Pardoning Board has to approve the release, eligible begins at 40 years. My dad will likely die there, due to his crime. Yes, we can forgive him, however, he may be safer there.

I went to a form of scared straight at Angola at 16 being one of the at risk kids from New Orleans. Shit was one of the scariest things I ever experienced. A prisoner explained how you could be sold for a box of joes, i was fucked up by that, shit still resonates today and That was like 2000

So much truth in these fellows testimonials. Truth that came after they had time to contemplate their decisions and the repercussions of it. But who will listen? Who will hear? Not those who could benefit; not those who reject morality. My heart hurts for these men, and for those who are not here, yet could be. Society discounts prison religion or salvation. But you often have to come face to face with yourself, and no one else to blame. The woulda, coulda, shoulda's haunt us all. We suffer with regret. These men are no worse than you or I, no worse than society. They were caught in their crimes, their sins. We haven't been. Yet. Please think about that.
I respect these men and their honesty. Jesus is the core of their strength, it is however, a shame that their foolish ways led to a life of incarceration. I pray that the young out there will see this video and realize that bad choices can lead to a life inside. Thankfully God is working in these men's lives and that they still see hope because of him.
