I would say to other people: I followed Daniel's advice but kept getting the message. I let it settle for 10 minutes and then tried again. Hey presto!

Thanks so much my washing machine is now working again! So so happy I didn't need to invoice anyone to get it up in running again . Most used appliance in the house and with 2 plumbers clothes being washed in it, it was rather awful in there

Put a baking sheet under the lid and use the lid as a ramp for the water. This avoids a lot of mess.

We have both the washing machine and tumble dryer, they are good machines but require regular maintenance hence the error codes. SO we decided to make these videos so they help others.

My machine has done the F20 error right from the beginning, but only on the woollens cycle. It seemed to have stopped for a couple of years but just did it again. The only way I can stop it is leave the machine off for a while then try again.
we had this issue all the time when it was used in that small room, but since moving it elsewhere no issues.

F20 is a heater fault not a drain fault as it’s happened to my Miele if this keeps happening you will have to change the heater

ONE OF THE EASIEST MACHINES TO DRAIN. PUT A DEEP BAKING TRAY UNDER THE DROP DOWN DOOR. OPEN THE FILTER A LITTLE TO ALLOW WATER TO RUN OUT AND DOWN THE DOOR, OUT INTO THE BAKING TRAY. WHEN ALL WATER HAS STOPPED, OPEN THE FILTER FULLY AND CLEART OUT ANY CRUD. SIMPLES!!

I just LOVE how this fucking F20 code doesn't show up ANYWHERE in the manual and I have to go on fucking youtube at 1:30 AM because my washing machine is screaming and I got wet laundry I gotta deal with and a wet floor because YOU CAN'T DRAIN A THING ON THE FLOOR INTO ANYTHING WHAT FUN DESIGN! JEEZ!

The door acts as a water feed but you need to keep open the hole (I keep it open with a spoon) and with a large tray underneath there is very little water spilled onto the floor.

Miele washing machines and washer-dryers cost more in spite of other brands for nothing as even Miele always have problems and often very serious ones especially in the electronics which always has failures and burning problems of the electronic boards themselves. Their very high price is truly unjustified and unjustifiable! The electronic boards are not made in Germany and the spare parts cost almost as much as a new washing machine! Other less expensive brands work great and never have any problems of any kind! Furthermore, it must be added that the much vaunted honeycomb drum does not wash well at all, indeed if you make a comparison with the old Mieles that used the drum with holes, the latter wash much much better! The honeycomb drum was just a publicity stunt and nothing more!

thanks for sharing all that information, I have to say since moving the appliances out of the cupboard into a much larger room we have had zero problems so worth considering.
