UPDATE: BEEF KALDERETA IS NOW POSTED! We will be cooking two vlogs for next weekend, one Beef Kaldereta by Mama LuLu, one Laing by Apple, which should we post first? Comment your choice!
When I married my 20 year old Filipina sweetheart I woke up the next morning and realized she didn't know how to cook American food. I thought I was going to starve the next few years. The first night she fixed me pork adobo. It was so good I wanted it the next night also. Never tasted anything quite like that before. By the end of the first month she had me eating most everything she cooked. There are still a few dishes that I prefer to skip, even after 48 years together now. Our grandkids have learned to enjoy the food their lola taught their parents when they were growing up. Another generation of those who love Pinoy food.
my stepmother is filipino and since I was 3 she looked after me and raised me on adobo, sinigang, kinilaw, puto, pancit canton etc. she moved back home for a few years but now that she’s back with us, your videos are helping me learn so many recipes that I can cook for her in return now that I’m older so I can thank her for such an amazing childhood!!!! so thank you olly and mama lulu
I am ready to listen to as many tips as this wonderful mama gives! It is such a treasure... With all of my heart. I can't see my mom because of the war in Ukraine.
I'm a Malay Indonesian from Singapore and I'm surprised at how Tagalog and my language has a lot of similar words so I could kind of understand what she says. Love the video btw!
My Filipina wife and I watched a Singaporean movie a couple of months ago, with English subtitles. She said about one of every ten words were already familiar to her as they had a similar word in Tagalog.
this is out of topic but i pray that God will bless Mama lulu with a very long life so that she can make lots and lots of videos. Her videos are comforting and gives me a safezone vibe. Feels like home.
Why is no one here talking about how sweet Apple was for having spoon-fed Mama Lulu at the end? And Mama Lulu saying "Anak ko nga siya." after taking the bite made that moment sweeter. ♥️♥️♥️
My mother just died and I miss her so much. Watching mama lulu cooks makes me happy. Lagi din kasi nagluluto si mommy ko. Please always make videos so that hindi ko masyado maramdaman ang lungkot. I love you Mama Lulu ❤
Next is Oliver's adobo naman. The way mama Lu and Apple cooked their adobo is sincere. Even without tasting them you know its delicious 😍 more menus please
We tried Mama Lulu's Chicken Adobo recipe minus the balun-balunan and puso, but we did add the liver in the end. Its super LEGIT !! Ang sarap, GRABE! It's our new standard now. Thanks !!
Mama Lulu really reminds me of my own late aunt; warm, funny, chatty and huggable. There was never a time we visited her without our tummies stuffed with her food, plus she’d packed more for us to bring home. In between too, we be in stitches listening to her old stories of our family. Cheers from Singapore.💐
I’m not just inspired but also encouraged to cook ulit kahit for myself man lang….🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
I just started watching your cooking vlog tonight. I first watched mama lulu’s sinigang then ito na. Ganitong vlog ang bet ko, very real and authentic. Tsaka yung tips and instructions on how to cook ay very helpful. ❤

Thank you for always taking your time making and uploading these videos for us to learn and appreciate Filipino cuisine and culture 🥰💕 mabuhay po kayo!
This gives me the family-hangout vibes - just hanging out in the kitchen with Mama and Ate... and it's amazing how they give you simple tips. And yes, they make all the difference. I love how Mama Lulu kicked it off by letting us know of different versions of Adobo (in terms of cooking). Ate Apple is also rocking with her Pork Adobo! (SIGH...) Now I'm hungry.
Nakakatuwa naman sila. Kainggit bonding Ng magnanay. I miss my mom, she's one of the greatest cook in our town. Suki ng pyestahan. God take her from us too early 😢
I just cooked adobo today, similar to Ate Apple's. Thank you for your life, Mama Lulu, Olly, and Ate Apple! I love your contents, sobrang nakakatuwa saka nakakawala ng pagod. God bless your family!
Ate Apple's version of adobo, reminds me of my Lola's version. The difference is, my Lola add some Atsuete for color and also my Lola boils the meat with the marinade until all is absorbed and evaporated, then she'll add oil to fry it. So yummm. 😍
I love Philipino foods and in this video mama's soup version is really my type very simple yet delicious. Apple's version is good too. Thought I can eat mama's version all time breakfast, lunch and dinner . 😋😋
Love 🥰 this vlog. The soul of Pinoy lives on in cooking, teasing, critiquing, and arguing healthily. Love the exchange of banters between Mom and daughter. You closely remind me of home Mama Lulu.😢 God bless you always.
Wonderful video with two absolutely my favorite meats - chicken and pork belly. While I miss out a lot of discussion though I can pick out some Spanish words the love and joy of cooking and eating is simply outstanding. I look forward to more videos from you two adorable women!
I love the way mama lulu cooks her dishes, and your tips are really helpful. Thank you so much for sharing your recipes (your own version). Your new fan and subscriber here 😍. Watching from 🇮🇳.
I've always cooked pork adobo but now I want to try chicken adobo. Pork adobo is soo good but it also takes a lot of time and work. SO EXCITED TO TRY MAMA LULUS RECIPE
My mom is Filipino and used to make adobo chicken when I was younger. We no longer speak but your video made me so nostalgic and happy. Thank you for making these.
The first time I've seen your cooking show was when my daughter in San Francisco introduced me to your show. She loves watching you guys and Apple was a little bit shy and now look at you so confident. And of course my daughter love you guys she love to laughing with everyone mum.
Pati ba nmn mag sain ngppaturo pa. gawin mo yung midle finger kamot mo muna sa wetpaks mo tapos amuyin mo tsaka mo png messure sa sasaingin mong bigas dpt sakto lng sa guhit n gusto mo haha
The pork adobo looks so good and it’s making me want to go to the supermarket at 9pm to buy pork and cook adobo!!! This is the first time I’m watching apple, awesome job and thanks for sharing!!
Ano ba yan ?
I am so excited to try Apple's pork adobo recipe - I don't see very many recipes online that recommend marinating the pork overnight but that sounds like a great way to make it extra tangy and flavourful.
Love this! Both versions. Thanks! This is very similar to how my mom and dad taught me to cook adobo. I even like that the video is all in Tagalog. My young daughter watched it with me. Immerse us in Tagalog and yummy recipes and we'll learn how to be fluent in Tagalog in no time! **crossing fingers**
In early 1900s Spanish was the most widely used language in the capital region and I think Manila is one of the top cities in the world with a lot of Spanish speakers . It was changed when Americans came and also Spanish was also part of the study in school but later it was being removed . That is the reason why only less Filipinos can speak Spanish but still there are words in Spanish live up to this day .
Yesss! Pork belly! Can't go wrong cooking anything with pork belly! Omg! I'm not moving into my home until July 29, after 8 months living in an RV with no power or water no cooking any meals....and that is a big feat for a 62 year old woman! I will be cooking this FIRST!! THANK YOU Apple and Mama Lulu!! Love watching your beautiful family!!
Today is the second time I am making Mama Lulu’s chicken adobo. Today I add chicken livers, gizzards, and hearts. I cannot wait to eat this. I was surprise to learn that more and more the words are the same with Bahasa Indonesia: sama-sama, cuka, asin, bawang. Thank you Mama Lulu and Oliver. Next time we’ll try Apple’s version!
Mama Lulu and Oliver, thank you for making this kind of videos. You and my mom have the same way po of cooking Filipino dishes. For the past two years, I always eat processed food because my mom had a stroke when I was 17 and I don't know how to cook. I tried watching other cooking videos but I couldn't fine videos the same way as to how my mom cooks, but thank God, I saw this in my recommended videos. Thank you Mama Lulu, I'm going to try and learn your recipes. I hope that you'll always be in good health and more blessings from the Lord.
God bless..
My friend who happened to work as my House Girl when I lived in the Philippines would make this but she added carrot, potato, and leeks. It’s been 30 years and I still crave her Adobo.
I LOVE both options! Adobo is one of my favorites too. Thank you Mama Lulu & Apple for the tip for reducing or increasing the heat to control the liquid outcome. 💕
I love her so much when I'm sad I always watch her vedios in TikTok after that I'm happy again... Thankyou for always makes us happy mama otokoyaki I wish ganyan ka open minded mama ko
Its so comforting watching these videos cause my parents spend 6 months here in Canada and then 6 months in the Philippines so when I miss them I just watch your vids! I also get to learn how to cook more Filipino recipes, so its a Win-Win!! Love you and your fam so much!
Napaka sarap talaga ng adobo pag hindi tinipid i mean.. Pag maraming sibuyas bawang paminta😋😋😋 same po pag nagluluto ako adobo wala naring asin...
I'm loving this video! Why did the captions stop once Mama LuLu walked into the kitchen while Apple was cooking? I'm looking forward to making both kinds of adobo for myself. The saucy chicken and dry pork adobos look so very tasty!
I appreciate that they're still speaking in normal Filipino. By normal, I mean, the typical conversation you usually hear everyday. Ang iba naman medyo slang na. Hehe I just think other Filipinos that live abroad prefer to use English or Filipino with an American accent. 😅
Mama Lulu's adobo was the first version I learned. Throughout the years I played with different versions of adobo including adobo sa luyang dilaw, sa gata and adobong tuyo using either chicken thighs or liempo.
My opinion but i think is best to create a standard adobo, yes there is a lot of variety but and we should respect it all equally, but we need to show the world what a standard filipino adobo looks like so many foreigners can make it . It is not saying that there is an original adobo no of course not we just need to let them see what a common adobo looks like
I love this. I love seeing their different versions of cooking, and Mama Lulu is always so proud to see her kids making food. You know she taught them well.
I love it when you sauted the garlic first. I don't know if it's only me but when I tried to sauted the onion first the garlic took a lot of time to get cooked... I don't know if it's because of the caramelized onion but yeah I prefer garlic to be sauted first. Hahhaa
I learned how to cook adobong tuyo (or adobong uga/puwa in bisaya) from my stepfather. Ang ginagawa namin tinatapon lang namin lahat nang ingredients (most of the time, walang toyo) sa kawali tas pinapakuluan, pag maririnig mo na yung baboy na pumuputok (meaning wa nang sabaw), lalagyan na nang mantika tas stini-stirfry hanggang kumulay pula yung baboy :> lab lab lab it
The Humba makes more sense. Its the less talked about dish. Adobobo is over rated and ridiculous. No one even eats it before the media kept promoting this sad dish as definitive of Filipino food culture. I discovered Humba in the city of Dumaguete and I initially thought it was one of the 764 variants of the Adobobo.
@@eduardochavacano the looks were similar but the ingredients and the taste are different. Humba has a lil bit of sweetness bcoz of the pineapple juice,. While adobo have strong flavor and a bit salty.
The way ate lulu's adobo it's the same the way I cook.i learned. Cooking from my grandma who owns a kitchenette in our hometown.if I cook adobo I never put water it's purely vinegar.well seasonings it's very important to have a good taste. I loved watching ate lulu and apple cooking their foods.i loved to cook and bake.ilive here in Washington everyday I'm always watching them especially ate lulu she's so smart and chubby woman.
I love this video I always come back to it when I make my husband pork adobo. His mom is Filipino so I have to be able to hold up to those standards. And these recipes do not disappoint!

This woman smile cures hurting hearts
I think i'd do a combo of Mama Lulu and Apple's. I love me some sauce, but the sear on Apple's just looks like it adds so much more flavour
I LOVE both options!
Adobo is one of my favorites too.
Thank you Mama Lulu & Apple for the tip for reducing or increasing the heat to control the liquid outcome. 💕
Nagugutom tuloy ako sa luto nyo FROM PHILIPPINES!!🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
I love her so much when I'm sad I always watch her vedios in TikTok after that I'm happy again... Thankyou for always makes us happy mama otokoyaki I wish ganyan ka open minded mama ko
Its so comforting watching these videos cause my parents spend 6 months here in Canada and then 6 months in the Philippines so when I miss them I just watch your vids! I also get to learn how to cook more Filipino recipes, so its a Win-Win!! Love you and your fam so much!
Petition for Kuya Olly and Ate Apple cooking battle!! Then mama lulu was the judge 😁😁
Exactly how I love my adobo! Dry for pork and saucy for chicken. Thank you ladies for sharing your recipes, and Oliver for filming. God bless!
Hehe
I just think other Filipinos that live abroad prefer to use English or Filipino with an American accent. 😅
Mama Lulu's adobo was the first version I learned. Throughout the years I played with different versions of adobo including adobo sa luyang dilaw, sa gata and adobong tuyo using either chicken thighs or liempo.
I LOVE THIS FAMILY & HOW THEY SHOW 2 VERSIONS OF CERTAIN DISHES. YUMMY❤❤
Growing up, I've never ever seen Onions on an Adobo dish, never used. Now it is a common ingredient to Adobo. Will have to try your versions.
What a fitting video, the PH is currently standardizing adobo, and its getting mixed reviews. Cheers!
Adobo is a cooking Technique and Art Form.
It has elements, but it cannot be caged.
My opinion but i think is best to create a standard adobo, yes there is a lot of variety but and we should respect it all equally, but we need to show the world what a standard filipino adobo looks like so many foreigners can make it . It is not saying that there is an original adobo no of course not we just need to let them see what a common adobo looks like
@@Zweiihandre oh shut up
I love this. I love seeing their different versions of cooking, and Mama Lulu is always so proud to see her kids making food. You know she taught them well.
Mabuti at tagalog, ang pagpapalwanag.simple,at straight to the point! Salamat mommy🥰🥰🥰Bagong subscriber.
Mama lulu reminds me of my ninang, i love her videos even in tiktok, a typical pinay mother pang Masa. More power po
I love it when you sauted the garlic first. I don't know if it's only me but when I tried to sauted the onion first the garlic took a lot of time to get cooked... I don't know if it's because of the caramelized onion but yeah I prefer garlic to be sauted first. Hahhaa
The transition is epic. Forever an Adobo fan 💞
Ang cute ni mama lulu ..
I miss my mama in heaven... masarap din xa magluto kagaya mo po❤
I learned how to cook adobong tuyo (or adobong uga/puwa in bisaya) from my stepfather. Ang ginagawa namin tinatapon lang namin lahat nang ingredients (most of the time, walang toyo) sa kawali tas pinapakuluan, pag maririnig mo na yung baboy na pumuputok (meaning wa nang sabaw), lalagyan na nang mantika tas stini-stirfry hanggang kumulay pula yung baboy :> lab lab lab it
dry adobo is one of my favorites when it was made by my mom... it looks like a version of filipino food called "Humba"
@@eduardochavacano My dad lived in Dumaguete. You never really hear about that island.
It's wrong to put alot of sugar in it. That's not the Filipino way. If you wish to add sugar then put just a teaspoon in it.
I love this video I always come back to it when I make my husband pork adobo. His mom is Filipino so I have to be able to hold up to those standards. And these recipes do not disappoint!
