My grandma grew up in the LA area during the 1940s. I can totally see her wearing an outfit like this while dating my grandpa. Unfortunately, I didn't get her build.
I only recently discovered your channel (thanks to your recent thrift store adventure with Stephanie Canada), and I really loved how you included the cost of labour in your financial roundup of this project. I agree that it is incredibly important to talk about the cost of labour in dressmaking, because the devaluation of labour plays a big role in fast fashion. Even when we don't intend to sell the clothes that we make, it is important to recognised that labour is just as important a cost as the fabric it is made out of. It is such a simple addition to your round-up, but so important. I really hope more UA-camrs will start doing the same. I know I will include it more in future when I post my projects to insta. Thank you.
Thank you! And welcome! I am super passionate about talking about labor and just costs in general, when you understand how much everything is it really opens your eyes to how much we've devalued work.
The pattern turned out so well with the lovely puff sleeves and giant pockets! Loved watching you fighting through the hiccupfest. We've all been there ❤
Adorable fabric and l love the idea of these sets. I'm a grandma in Australia and I look forward to your videos. I enjoy your chatty style; it's very comforting when I'm feeling a bit lonely. You're a fun, young companion. Thank you.
For hiccups I make my self cough and cough and cough and they go away. It has to be a deep cough done several times like you have smoke in your lungs. Hiccups are caused from air trapped in between the diaphragm I think the mediastinum, at least that is what I was taught in nursing school over 40 years ago. Coughing forces the air out of that area and stops the hiccups. Hope that helps. Your 1940s play suit is adorable! Love the material and the pattern. Oh and the little strawberry buttons as well!
Darling!! Good job with all the multidirectional stripes, they take the outfit to at least the next level. Definitely try extending the crop top into a shirtwaist dress, it will be super cute. Brava, Haley!
The top reminds me of a Dirndl blouse. And not just because I live in Bavaria and went to a flea market today where there were also people selling Tracht, Dirndl blouses really looks like this (though they usually come in one solid color, most commonly white) 😀 So you could also wear the top under a Dirndl, I guess.
Gathers or pleats, I quarter and pin. Honestly I just keep quartering as much as I can so I’m only doing a wee bit at a time. Best way I’ve found to pleat, with gathers I stick to four to six panels.
Super cute! I love that fabric. I wish it was easier to find fabrics like that where I am. I'm scared to order online because I'm such a tactile person.
I am so impressed with how you choose various methods to make things! I almost always follow the pattern exactly because I worry that it won't come out right otherwise. That fabric is gorgeous and so perfect for this playsuit pattern!
Hi Haley I watch your videos often and am often inspired by your craft. I did my first thrift store haul (a gift to myself from watching your vintage makes). Can I tell you the fabric I found today was amazing. Thank you for all you share. I’m still searching for that oversized collar shirt that your wore in one of your videos😊 just had to share
OMG I love a good thrift fabric, hoping you can hunt down the shirt soon, I have more details about it coming up in a video soon and plans to make it on camera in the winter!
Hey Haley I love your posts. I have noticed that every time you post you put some flowers on that little table behind you, obviously so it'll look cute, and then your cat always tries to knock it over. I think maybe you need your flowers higher up or something needs to change buddy. It cracks me up every time you start I see those flowers and then there comes the cat to get them LOL
Very cute playsuit :D I love the fabric ! I have to say, I enjoy ironing while sewing. It is satisfying to get crisp seams ! But it is hell in summer, I haven't sewn that much the last 2 months because of that :(. But I just finished my Scout dress from Gertie's Charm patterns :).
These are adorable. Would you feel properly attired at work if you wore the top over a dress? I can imagine it over simple tank style. Think vest situation. Also, a pair of super high waisted pants might be cute. The top is my favorite of the ensemble.
I love this project. It looks fabulous. When you determine the cost of the clothing, you don’t add any overhead . Why? After all, rent, electricity , water, heat/cooling and insurance are part of the cost
Weird request, but could you do a sewing tutorial on a vintage stuffed animal? I have the Advanced: Sleeping Cat stuffed animal pattern, but I’m not sure how to put it together. I learn better by seeing someone do something hands on.

so stinkin' cute 🍓
What a dream seriously ❤❤ it’s the most perfect set ever 🍓
The pattern turned out so well with the lovely puff sleeves and giant pockets! Loved watching you fighting through the hiccupfest. We've all been there ❤
I think the scarps from this project will look great with your next handkerchief project. Really cute set, looks great.
So beautiful! You really did justice to that beautiful rare fabric with your careful cutting and finishing. No notes!
Adorable fabric and l love the idea of these sets.

Thank you so much, I am glad I can brighten your day!
This came out SUPER cute! Glad you were able to still wear it even it wasn’t to T-Swift.
The top is my favourite piece. The puff sleeves-please! They look sooo good. Can't wait to see this pattern used again ❤🎉

Wow, darling ensemble, sooo pretty and it looks so comfy!! From fabric choice to buttons to the reveal ... beautiful work!!! Wow.
I love this set! Once you make an extended pattern, the top would also look cute with a peplum.
The playsuit is amazing and love choice of material looks so cool and summery ❤

So cute!! I did not know that in the 1940's they showed some midriff skin! LOL
Yeah I have a lot of patterns from that time that show a surprising amount of skin!
Damn, girl! You look so cute! Love this pattern! Great job!
It turned out so good!! The strawberry buttons are adorable :) I’m sorry you weren’t able to get tickets to the concert. The prices are crazy 🥲
Very cute! I absolutely love the blouse! All the pattern placement works wonderfully
I totally love the buttons! So cute!
So adorable!!!! You look amazing in it!! ❤

I absolutely love this! The fabric is so reminiscent of the 40s. Such a cute set!!
Love the pockets!

My first two years of sewing I pretty much followed the pattern exactly but now I know how I like to do things through lots of experience
Cute outfit. Love the fabric
Soooooo CUTE!
omgosh! such a cute playsuit!
love the whole outfit. congrats!

It's pretty much a bit at this point, I only have them down to film and she is only interested in them when I film
Darling! I don't think I could figure out those sleeves.
Love the set. Those pockets are good aren’t they ❤
Confirmed I can fit 4 water-bottles in them
Very cute playsuit :D I love the fabric !

Fun I want to give that dress a try! Ready for cooler ironing weather

Yes, but I own no simple dress 😅
I love this project. It looks fabulous. When you determine the cost of the clothing, you don’t add any overhead . Why? After all, rent, electricity , water, heat/cooling and insurance are part of the cost
Honestly I just don't really know how to get an accurate overhead per project

Admittedly I don't really sew any home goods although I do want to make a cat bed soon
If you make just the shorts, side or patch pockets?
Probably no pockets haha I am used to carrying a bag 🤣
Kitty commentary!
