It's weird feedback to me, I feel like computers are one of the most useful items in the game. I know you can put them on dining tables, but then Sims put their food on the computer. And sometimes it's easier to fit two desks in two tiny nooks than it is to fit a dining table.

The first speed build of James I ever saw, was a tiny home. I think we've come full circle with this pack. You seem inspired these days and I feel spoiled and excited! Speaking of "cheating", check out Simproved's "huge micro home". She uses roofs instead of walls, without really creating a room, so the tiles don't count. Yet the space is still considered sheltered. Less walls means cheaper house and you take advantage of the micro home benefits. Perfect for future rags to riches too!
Yup! I did this with my build based on Simproved's trick, it helps bring in a TON of light, enables some cooler layouts, and stays within the confines of the 32-tile cap for Micro Homes. This way I was able to get a proper tiny home with a double bed and single bed, each in separate rooms, for a family. In her video she mentioned the "moving walls" trick, but I didn't quite get what she meant until this video by James. This is a great way to use rooftops, because when I tried to make a rooftop patio before, it counted as tiles and I was SO confused because the SimGurus did say roofs and patios would not count - but they do. So, workarounds it is!
Also lilsimsie did it. And if she can do it (whilst getting upset that the toddler wouldn't have a proper bedroom) then Semaj who doesn't actually care about his sims that much would have no trouble squeezing everyone in to an even smaller space!
Exactly, a lot of tiny homes have a microwave/convection oven in the counter or cabinet area. I think this pack should have had one more gameplay item, either a ladder, which had the animation already, or an appliance of some sort. Even if they did a stovetop minus the oven, that wouldn't have resulted in more animation making, just liberating it.
Microwaves above stoves are common not even in tiny homes. I guess maybe figuring out how to attach a microwave to a wall is hard but like...it's such a common thing in regular houses too
@@taypo13 I don't know much about game design, but a wall mounted microwave can't be _that_ hard of a thing to do, right? All there really is to do would be change around the existing microwave animation.
Wall mounted microwaves used to be a mod, but it no longer supported (so it doesn't work anymore). If a modder could make one, the developers definitely can.

Well, I think as long as you don't need to put in a cheat code to do it, it's not cheating, it's being creative within the limitations of the game, but at the same time I don't feel moveobjects is a cheat because a lot of how objects can be placed without it is just unrealistic, like not adding a window on the wall opposite a door or put objects under the stairs.

I themed it like a castle tower to try to make it make sense being that small & not extended (its listed). You lose a lot of space to the stairs as if they are in a straight line they require 5 tiles which you don't get in a 4x4 space, and if wrapped around you lose some underneath. Granted I was trying to make the smallest possible house with 3 beds, 2 bathrooms in terms of "square footage" on the ground (so tower was the only way) but it was tough. Doable but tough. It was small enough that I actually did a few builds on the same lot of different sizes. The 5x5 was much better. Felt more usable. But if the 4x4 was only for 1 or 2 sims it would be fine. Schaemia Hmmm yeah, I think you might be right actually. Also my mistake, it’s actually a small home, not a tiny one. It does say tiny in the title though 😂
Love how this turned out. Another little tip for enclosing spaces without making a room: You can place 1 wall and drag it to the length you want. Even if it joins another wall, it doesn't create a room. Might be easier than building a wall separately and moving it into place every time. Looking forward to seeing what else you build with this pack! Also GASP you have the "My First Pet's Stuff" active? edit: I also wish there was a microwave that went above the stove in the sims. That's pretty common where I'm from.
I adore tiny houses, in the sims and even more so irl (we're hoping to start building our own THOW in the next 3 years or so). I was SO HYPED for this pack when they announced it! I love that they've started creating the combo items, they're deff something very new to TS4 and are very nice to have (especially once they fix game consoles not working with the tvs)...although I do wish we would have gotten more of them, like a sink on the back of a toilet (it uses the fresh water in the sink, and that water goes into the toilet basin for use there). OR, just a thinner sink, the one in the pack feels SO big - almost exactly the size of the actual sink bit on top without all the extra bulk would've been perfect. But more than anything, I also really really reeeeeeeeally wish we would have gotten ladders. They're such a HUGE space saver, and something so many in the community have been waiting (and hoping and asking) for. Also, and I know it would make the pack a bit much for a SP - loft beds. I would love bunk beds like most Simmers, BUT, if they could give us loft beds, AND stand alone beds to match that worked underneath - we could do soooooo much with those! Bunk beds, those are really cool bed on top, desk on the bottom units. Loft beds and ladders. And I could've forgiven the way over sized sink, giant floor lamp and lack of a single small window. - All this being said, I LOOOOOVE the art style and the textures are sooooo good! Tyfs!! Hope you've had a nice week and have a great weekend. Best of wishes, Semaj!
Soo refreshing to see you doing speedbuilds again!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Not that I don't love the LP's but this is what brought me to your channel in the first place. Thank you.
James: I’ve been wanting to use that coffee table for so long! Me: ....the pack has been “out” for two days....🤣😂 (I do realize that he’s had it longer than the rest of us. Ha!)
Worse, the DOOMED FEELING when you have to wait like an hour to go pee because someone's in the 1 bathroom taking a long shower. I don't have to imagine either, my brothers would leave puddles everytime they bathed. 1 bathroom for 5 people was a tiny nightmare every damn day. I remember once I walked up to the mall just to use the toilet lol
This is one of my favorite builds that you've done. I love all of your tiny builds but the darker colors and modern style of this one is really, really nice.
I present the challenge of building a tiny home (the medium tier) and putting in a grand piano in the build inside. Bonus points for all the other instruments you can include in the build
On the subject of loft beds: It would be really cool if they could build the loft bed and then allow space for a single bed to snap underneath it. Then we could make bunk beds that way. They'd only have to make two beds (the loft and the single) as opposed to three (the loft, single, and bunk bed) I'm not a game dev, though, so idk if that would be harder.
Having lived in one for 2 years now... the idea is overly romanticised nowadays. There's nothing fun about not owning a dryer because there's no room, but then subsequently not having any room to hang clothes to dry. Cook up a nice meal? Everything is going to smell like garlic now. Living, eating, sleeping and cooking in 1 room gets old SO fast.
Kate Giddy, not at all, in my opinion. You have to have a strong relationship to start with if you're going to live happily together on 25 square metres. If there are any arguments where you would like to shut the door behind you, there may not be an option for you to do so. Communication is key, but I do not think every relationship neccessarily benefits from it if the people in it are forced to live in a tiny space. If anything, fights can get out of hand quicker. Sure, it's nice to be close to the person you love all the time. As for the plants, I don't really care that much. I guess there is a sense of logic to it, as living small is more ecological. I do not see how you would develop skills faster. If my SO really wants to improve his guitar skill whilst I'm trying to focus on my writing skill when we're right next to each other... well, you get the idea. There are so many more things they could have done to improve the pack. Make sims want to have alone time when they've had an argument, but I guess there's quite a lot more to say about the relationship aspect of the game. (I.e. sims that have just fallen out are happily chatting 2 seconds later.)
Is it possible to select both as lot traits at the same time? Or is it like how the apartments can't have their lot type changed so even though technically small enough to class as a tiny home or smaller, you can't mark them as such to benefit from the bonuses.
Tiny Living is actually one of the few Packs that I got for the original price and not on discount, because I think the items we get are awesome and I'm so inspired to build tiny homes and micro homes and all that. Can't wait to try it out tomorrow! Do think we should've gotten some new kitchen stuff, though
LilSimsie hasn’t posted a video on it yet, and i’m not sure if she’s going to but she made a Tiny Living home on her stream where instead of stairs she used the Island Living Ladder (will have to be in Sulani as the ladder needs water to work) and I’d love to see your take on that!! (Either tiny living or normal house!)
This is great and all, but I have a challenge. You, James Turner, must make a micro home able to fit 8 sims with no move objects and you're only allowed to use 1 object from Tiny Living. What about it? Please do it it would be super fun to watch!
My biggest issue with tiny living is that there was no kitchen stuff. I really would have liked to see mini stove/oven combo like you see in real tiny homes. Or a stove that can convert into a counter. Or a washer dryer combo that you can put a counter on top. There is a lot of features in tiny homes that they could have added. I was disappointed that the only real functional items were the Murphy bed and the tv/radio/bookcase combo
Awesome. I just bought this Stuff Pack today, I'm really looking forward to building with it. Also, if anyone is interested the Sims4 is like 85% off in Origin right now for their 20-year anniversary or something like that. Anyhow, thanks for the build, James, really love your builds.
I have a challenge idea!! Not sure anyone else has already thought of this but it came to my mind so I might as well make a comment about it. Basically, you have to build a semi-normal looking house without using ANY WALLS OR FLOOR. It is a 0 tile house challenge. Without walls. 😊 The rules: - You can use carpets, tiles or other flooring, but you CAN'T use foundations. - You can have more than one storey but you can't use floors to build other storeys. - You must NOT use fences or halfwalls as walls. - You can build the house in whichever style you want. - The house needs to be practical. Meaning it must have all things for a normal life. (Bed, shower, toilet etc.) Don't know if it is any good, but I think it would be fun to see you come up with an idea. 😅
Question, can sim children pull down the Murphy bed and use it? I was just wondering because no one said the could. But that would be great because you can have two rooms for 4 people. It would save a lot of space.
I got a fun challenge that I was able to do so you should try it! Try to build either a tiny or small house that could accommodate a full house! That doesn't mean all sims you could have pets too but you have to have 1 food bowl per pet and at least 1 pet bed and if you use cats you have to have 1 litterbox for every 2 cats. I got 5 sims and 3 pets in a tiny home (I used a tent though)
Just rewatched your 4x4 mini home two level build video from a yr ago. Would LOVE to see you recreate that house and see what you can do with it now that we have new bb stuff. And the new bendy stairs etc.
I mean the stuff you put on the roof just as easily could have been on a patio with terrain paint so it's not really cheating it just is more aesthetically pleasing and contemporary.
I'm very impressed this build is gorgeous you'd never think this is a tiny home it looks amazing. I make decent houses now but never modern-styled I can never make it look as good as this, the work with half walls is genius although very intricate so kudos ! I love your build videos you're still my fave simmer youtuber
Hey James, idea for the next tiny build - get creative with the terrain and make a really creative home, like a cliffside lodgey type home or if not, do the one floor tiny build so maximize space like you were saying in the vid
Probably a lot of people have said this but James couldn’t you fit another counter if you just moved the bathroom door to the other side where the toilet is?
"It's not cheating if it's in the game" is my favourite Semaj excuse. But I am learning a lot of new ways to trick the tile count and it's great to see you building more (outside of LPs) again.
Suggested challenge build a duplex or mother and daughter tiny home. Two separate living areas 32 tiles each for two separate families. Good luck if you try it!
I was given a recommendation of your old 4x4 house build and thought of the idea of updating them to actually suit the new Tiny Living conditions the house can have since it’s already 4x4
maybe some kind of tiny home with a layout, where a gardensection is usable/ reachable from the kitchen and livingspace. They could eat outside (with a glassroof) and have more space inside. Like the house have an horseshoe shape. Bedrom an one side and kitchen/or livingspace on the other side :) (sorry for my bad english)
1.Bunk beds for teens and toddlers. 2.Loft beds 3.Overhead microwaves 4.Beds that double as a dresser. 5.Latters (Lofts) 6.Floating desks/ doubles as artwork. 7.Coffee table that folds out to become a dinning table... -More ideas to come...
I am totally in love with this pack.... with the exception of two things. 1-single sizes Murphy beds 2-integrated toilet/sink for bathrooms. Both of these and more placement options for microwaves would have been perfection. Love the builds James!
Fun build! My favorite work-around for tiny homes is to make covered patios using terrain paint for the flooring and pillars to hold up a roof. Sometimes I place walls to get the roof right, then remove them, making sure there are no floor tiles being counted. Room dividers can be added for privacy or just decoration. A glass roof is nice for these outdoor spaces, and since there is a roof, ceiling lights can be used. I have one on the Gallery called "My Micro Desert Home"; my EA ID is SallyJL. Actually, it's on there twice: one with just the house furnished and a little landscaping, and one fully fancied up. There is some CC; the names of the CC files I have are in the description of the fancy version. I would love to know what you think!
Fun challenge idea: renovate a school bus. I made a base game school bus and also one with the Strangerville light that looks like the front of a bus. The busses are just busses, with seats and everything. You can keep some of the seats or tear them all out. #SchoolBusReno Edit/add on: I am a console player. So this is the first time I have been able to put up my work on the Gallery and I am really excited about it! It makes the game so much more fun! I love the idea of a community wide renovation build challenge. I love seeing what people do with the bus!
I live in a tiny house and most of the furniture in the house doubles up as 2 or more pieces, and there’s lots of things that can be tucked away into walls and under things so I was surprised they didn’t add more items like that in the pack, especially stuff like fold down tables and storage stairs and LADDERS
I've been using the ground awnings to put stuff outside, since they make great workout in all weather except winter. You might have saved room with different stairs, but it wouldn't have looked half as beautiful! I really enjoy this build. You are so creative. :-) Could you try to make a gardening house with the tiny living restrictions? The gurus said you can make them but I'm struggling with making an open greenhouse, with attached home, that functions all year round.
Okay tiny home (64 tiles) for 6 sims (1 of which is a toddler) and 2 pets (a cat and a dog), plus laundry, 36,000 simolean budget. I think it's challenging but doable.
I know this isn’t tiny living based, but I’d like to see two specific builds and how you’d do them, since I tried them myself. A cat cafe, and an orphanage (which needs to have space for 2 adults and at least 5 kids). It’d be cool if you would try these.
Found a trick where if you place an item and shrink it with ctrl + [ and place it, then after it has been placed select and regrow it with ctrl + ] then cancel your selection the item will regrow to normal size in the position it fit while it was smaller. Helps with tiny homes a lot!

Build a tiny house mountain cabin, please! The style of this pack would work so well in an Alpine style log cabin.
The frozen Sims outside during the tour look like those drawings of people walking around in an architect's proposal of a building.
Soo refreshing to see you doing speedbuilds again!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Not that I don't love the LP's but this is what brought me to your channel in the first place. Thank you.
James you should do 5 sims and two pets in a tiny home
James: I’ve been wanting to use that coffee table for so long!
Me: ....the pack has been “out” for two days....🤣😂 (I do realize that he’s had it longer than the rest of us. Ha!)
Imagine wanting to use the toilet in the only bathroom in this house after someone showered and LITERALLY having to walk on the wet bathroom floor 💀
It is actually pretty normal for most people. Here in Europe we also have one bathroom 🤷♀️ buut if you're used to it it is fine
don't know about you but here in our country that's how it is 🤷🏻♀️
This is one of my favorite builds that you've done. I love all of your tiny builds but the darker colors and modern style of this one is really, really nice.
I think a half cabinet-microwave combo would have been a cool combo item in tiny living pack
I present the challenge of building a tiny home (the medium tier) and putting in a grand piano in the build inside. Bonus points for all the other instruments you can include in the build
I'd love to see an Australian bungalow style tiny home! Like you'd see in Melbourne or Ballarat
I feel like the feeling comfortable trait in tiny houses just kinda doesn't work all the time........
I lived in a tiny home nearly my whole life, it’s not comfortable.
It's my worst nightmare. Cozy? Nah, claustrophobic.
Vearle Vloet do you think any of the traits they gave tiny houses make sense?
Tiny living four sims on a budget off grid. That's what I wanna see.
You know what would be cool? A mini-fridge that snaps under a counter like the dishwasher does. That would be perfect for space-saving kitchens.
Deli did a super interesting build with an 8 sim small home (100 tiles) so would love to see you try this!
This is like watching art in the making. I’m mesmerized by all the camera angles and levels 😂
Your builds always give me inspiration for my own builds but it also makes me realize what a crappy builder I really am 😂
This is great and all, but I have a challenge. You, James Turner, must make a micro home able to fit 8 sims with no move objects and you're only allowed to use 1 object from Tiny Living. What about it? Please do it it would be super fun to watch!
I am so addicted to creating tiny houses now. It’s nuts. Great build again, James.
I was disappointed that the only real functional items were the Murphy bed and the tv/radio/bookcase combo
the exterior of this house looks awesome !! 😍
The rules:
- You can use carpets, tiles or other flooring, but you CAN'T use foundations.
- You can have more than one storey but you can't use floors to build other storeys.
- You must NOT use fences or halfwalls as walls.
- You can build the house in whichever style you want.
- The house needs to be practical. Meaning it must have all things for a normal life.
(Bed, shower, toilet etc.)
Don't know if it is any good, but I think it would be fun to see you come up with an idea. 😅
I've SO missed your building videos 💙 great job
Question, can sim children pull down the Murphy bed and use it? I was just wondering because no one said the could. But that would be great because you can have two rooms for 4 people. It would save a lot of space.
I love all the build vids since Tiny Living came out. Beautiful.
I feel like this pack was the perfect pack for bunk beds or ladders or green living items
I would love to see you build the tiny home that you would like to live in. In term of design, function and everything. ♥️♥️♥️
James flexing his tiny home expertise for 15 minutes straight.
I LOVE the wrap around stairs with the terrarium style column
James, you do know you can use the apartment mailbox now right? (thanks to university)
You should go into each of the worlds and build a tiny/micro worlds that fit the style of the worlds/packs.
Hi James, I just confirmed that without Tiny Living installed this lot can be downloaded as a regular residential lot :)
How about trying to make the biggest coolest ‘micro’ home using the in game cheats like the slanted roofs as walls and not enclosing spaces etc.
Hey James, idea for the next tiny build - get creative with the terrain and make a really creative home, like a cliffside lodgey type home or if not, do the one floor tiny build so maximize space like you were saying in the vid
L kkkk ki
I admire James so much
My favourite part of the day is when James upload a new video !
Stovetop with a mini fridge underneath! That would be cool
Off the grid micro home with laundry. I recently tried this and it was a nightmare. I had a large dog and a double bed
maybe some kind of tiny home with a layout, where a gardensection is usable/ reachable from the kitchen and livingspace. They could eat outside (with a glassroof) and have more space inside. Like the house have an horseshoe shape. Bedrom an one side and kitchen/or livingspace on the other side :) (sorry for my bad english)
I like the desk under the stairs trick. Thats a great use of what is otherwise dead space imo.
it's so cute the fact that you worries about a plant getting enough fresh air in an immaginary world XD
You make this look so easy. I love how it turned out!
I agree a loft bed with a desk underneath would be great!
1.Bunk beds for teens and toddlers.
2.Loft beds
3.Overhead microwaves
4.Beds that double as a dresser.
5.Latters (Lofts)
6.Floating desks/ doubles as artwork.
7.Coffee table that folds out to become a dinning table...
-More ideas to come...
James, I love your content I hope you are well and continue your work with the Sims.
It physically pains me to see how amazing you are at building these Sims homes! I wanna live in each and every one of them.
You should try and a build a small home for 8 Sims. The parents, and 6 kids or toddlers. And maybe a reasonable budget for the entire house!
#SchoolBusReno
Edit/add on: I am a console player.
A hot top portable stove, microwave oven that can be placed in a cabinet or counter, like a dishwasher, lofts, loft beds and bunk beds.
It would have been great if you could cook on dining tables and not only counters. That would save space and make the kitchens smaller.
you could also solve the dining table and counter space issue by using island counters! those can be used for cooking as well as as dining tables
We need a compact kitchen and bathroom addition to this. I agree this pack should have more items that actually save space and do more than one thing.
after watching all the micro home videos this house looks massive!
I know this isn’t tiny living based, but I’d like to see two specific builds and how you’d do them, since I tried them myself. A cat cafe, and an orphanage (which needs to have space for 2 adults and at least 5 kids). It’d be cool if you would try these.
I love this tiny home! Thanks for these build videos. I've missed them!🤩
one of those toilet sink combos would've been neat to have
Found a trick where if you place an item and shrink it with ctrl + [ and place it, then after it has been placed select and regrow it with ctrl + ] then cancel your selection the item will regrow to normal size in the position it fit while it was smaller. Helps with tiny homes a lot!
Been loving your recent videos James, I feel like Tiny Living has really revitalised your love for building which is awesome! ❤️
I'd love to see a build that is a certain amount of tiles like 42 or 37 or 69. Just a really specific amount of tiles, no more and no less.
Wait, I thought I was watching Jazza.. 😂 “Oh, he plays Sims too?”.
they do sound similar tbh lol. now im curious if jazza could make art on the sims.....using different objects or terrain paint or a mix of both
@UCOmoVDKUlYj1ORfm0G-8rxw I can hear the differences yehh. But I do hear similarities in their voices as well. To me kiwis and aussies sound the same so everything kinda blurs together
This is my favorite tiny home build so far !! 🙌🏻
Yeah bunk beds from the sims 3 would be great. There were variants that had two beds and one that had an empty spot underneath. I used to love putting desks under them
