- My wife and I are expecting a little girl in June 2017. I know she won't be in the bassinet long, but I couldn't help but take the opportunity to build something.. After her (and hopefully some other children), it can serve as a play bassinet.
I chose to stay away from my more typical how-to videos due to the nature of this project. I highly recommend you do your own research. If you have any specific questions, please leave a comment below and i'll get back to you.

So glad to see a Sam Maloof inspired bassinet being built! I knew Sam and worked at the first museum to put together a traveling exhibition of his work. The 2nd stop was the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC where one of his signature rocking chairs was donated. I hope you get to tour his home. it is a treasure! Congratulations on your bundle of joy!
Christine Jesson-Valore thank you for watching and the kind note! He was an incredible craftsman.
I can see that this will be passed on for generations.. Great job!!
lignum thank you and hopefully!
Awesome build!! Really enjoyed watching!
remon kaldas thanks. Kinda wish I had done the full how to. But just too much risk involved I think.

Still watching the video, but thank you for acknowledging the different guidelines out there that could potentially get wood workers in trouble. I've had several crib request and I just can't bring myself to take the risk. Even outside the legal risk, I couldn't stand thinking I did something wrong to hurt someone else's kid.
Phillip Rowland agreed. But I did do a weight stress-test with my dog. Didn't document that just in case PETA comes after me haha.
Chronic Woodwork haha. Looks great either way!
Very good work
Mhak refdan66 thank you much!
Very nice
Thank you. My daughter hated it haha
Exelent
Thank you.
How long did you steam the slats., it is beautiful.
ihoppoet thank you and thanks for watching. Rule of thumb is 1 hour per inch of thickness, so 15 min for these 1/4” slates. I’d recommend 20.

Chronic Woodwork thank you.
How did you attach the cradle to the stand? What type of bolts etc.?
Carol Ashurst hey carol, I used rockler pivot hinges!
Thanks so much for your reply. Beautiful cradle you built - great craftsmanship! :)

Please provide me with measurements
Mhak refdan66 i didn't make plans, but all measurements were based on the mattress 15" wide, and 33" long. From there i built the base, side caps, stretches, and spindles.
Then I took measurements of both my wife and I to figure out how tall to make the legs
Please provide me whit measurements
Sorry. I specifically said in the video I would not provide any plans due to liability reasons. Too sensitive of a build/purpose.
