So many great bands use this tuning. Goes to show that different tunings other than a standard gives much more newer and even convenient ways to write!
God is good. Repent and believe the gospel. Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose from the dead. You can be forgiven. You must be born again. There was a woman who had an alabaster box of very precious ointment and she poured it on the head of Jesus. We need to honour the King. The Lord God. ”that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.“ John 3:15 KJV. The Lord Jesus Christ. Repent means change, change from sin. Turn away from sin. Love and fear God. Call on the name of Jesus Christ. Draw nigh to God and he will draw nigh to you. He saved me. There is the lake of fire which is burning for eternity and there is heaven. I have eternal life in heaven because of what the Lord has done. Be ready for the day of judgement
Because he showed how to tune a string for 10 minutes without even explaining what the point of doing it. Man if you don't know how to turn a guitar tuner you should probably be playing in standard tuning. Shit content this.
Hey man, I saw that you use drop D a lot for your playing, so maybe you could answer this question for me? I've played guitar by ear for a long time, and now I am learning theory a bit. I know how to build chords and some scales and stuff, but I still have some questions regarding drop D tuning. When you tune down into drop D, do you typically use a specific scale and key to find all of your chords and notes like in standard? Like, since I am in drop D, should I naturally use a scale in the key of D whether it be major, minor, or whatever else? Any help would be appreciated, thanks a lot !
I remember when I first started playing, I brought my first tab book, which was Metallica's Black album. When it said "tune down half step" I thought that meant turn the tuning pegs down one half turn. I. Never actually checked if I was right. It just made the most logical sense.
Thank you so much Marty! 🙏 You not only showed how to tune the guitar to drop D , both in theory and in practice, but more importantly you showed some awesome examples of how to use it to make some good music in new ways. I just find it much more akin to my own learning way to learn by example and to see *why* I have to learn theory. Thank you!! 💗
Love it that you can just change up the tuning and discover a whole host of new sounds and songs. Would be cool to see you do some videos on the other tunings, too. 11 left, mate. I popped a few myself on Saturday, I'm banned from the fair now, but it'll be worth it. 🎈 🎈 🎈
Always tune up to notes. If you tune down there will be a tiny anoint of stretch in the string that will make the string go out of tune (flat) after you play it for just a minute, especially if you bend it.
I’m I sorry I accidentally clicked thumbs down but I changed it dw, thank you so much for teaching me. I’ve been learning since last September and your videos are so helpful! ❤❤
Very interesting thanks I didn’t know anything about dropped D but I recognised the Led Zep riff. It sounds cool I’ll defo be playing around with it 😊👍🏻🎸
I bet a bunch of newbies are trying this out now after watching Marty show how easy it is to get that 'dark' sound and power chords with one finger....Great demonstration Marty!
When I saw your video for how to play shine by Collective Soul, it was my favorite one because when I was around seven years old, I would try to play it, but I wouldn’t know how in standard tuning😂 so I appreciate the video. I am subscribed to you with notifications on.👍
Marty, you are super friendly and I appreciate that. Iove your videos. This one is great and helpful because I love grunge. Other tuning videos would be great too. Do you make music? I would like to hear some of your stuff man.
Hey Marty, watch you every single day. You’ve taught me everything I know about guitar. I have a song suggestion! “Love, Hate, Love” by Alice In Chains.
Hi i am learning a lot from you with every video upload. I just want to know can I use drop D tuning if the song and band is playing in E tuning? Thanx
So many great bands use this tuning. Goes to show that different tunings other than a standard gives much more newer and even convenient ways to write!
A little Heart-Shaped Box on Kurt's birthday

If you put a Capo across the top five strings in standard tuning at the 2nd fret you get dropped E tuning.
Would love to see these for other tunings! An episode on open tunings would be much appreciated
There’s so many classic riffs in drop D tuning. Fun lesson, thanks Marty!
Marty done played all the dopest riffs in 1 minute
Thank you so much Marty! 🙏

Its insane how good drop d sounds just by dropping one string a full step.
Great lesson, definitely not a beginner on guitar but very new to Drop D!
I don't like drop tuning normally (I'm lazy). But this seems fairly easy to do and sounds great. 😎🎸🎸
Love it that you can just change up the tuning and discover a whole host of new sounds and songs. Would be cool to see you do some videos on the other tunings, too.

Nice Kashmir at the beginning Marty ! 🤟
I love that tuning.
9:22 is incredible. You just busted it out like it was nothing too.
What is that? Is that your own thing or is that from a different artist?
Hey Marty, watch you every single day. You’ve taught me everything I know about guitar. I have a song suggestion! “Love, Hate, Love” by Alice In Chains.
There's a awesome rock song with drop D tuning, it's Whatever you Want by status Quo. It's my first drop D song I learnt...
The hardest Marty intro ever
Favourite Drop D songs:

Everything you need to know to become a metal head
Can you drop all strings down a half step?
Enjoyed watching this thanks for sharing.
Hi i am learning a lot from you with every video upload. I just want to know can I use drop D tuning if the song and band is playing in E tuning? Thanx
Next, Marty does death metal in drop C 🤘
It makes better use of the strings than open G. The next step is DADGAD, my favorite.
Amazing! This is such a great tutorial. Thanks Marty! What was the song you played at the beginning? Sounded like Bad Co.
Billy Strings - Show Me the Door
Thanks for all you do..
Everything by Tool. Hey man nice shot 👌
I'd love to see you do Ramble Tamble by CCR. Excellent drop d song. Great video as always!
Really Love That Guitar.!!! I Want It ....gotta decide between that or a Dobro

@Marty Music
Have you tried just switching out the low E string with a D String? I haven't tried it yet, but I might
So does every string drop a full step?

So what does this tuning do to scales such as Pentatonic ?
Thank you for all you do Marty...huge fan.
