Keegan Michael Key has apparently found the formula for Robin Williams level of energy. This man is a million miles a minute and he's there every beat.

until you're really, really good it's painful for the audience and performer. same with stand-up, but I think improv bombing is harder to watch.

I did it in college. It’s hard AF and it never got easier - at least for me. I was panicked the entire time and could barely breathe. My performance got better but the sheer panic never waned.

Comedy doesn’t get nearly enough respect for its level of intellect. Whether that’s improv or standup or comedic actors or writers. I’m not gonna just tell you a story with all the depth and emotion and continuity of a drama, I’m gonna make you laugh through it too. Pretty incredible stuff when you listen to the best in the world explain it like this.

Keegan-Michael Key is a wonderful comedian and seems to be a lovely person. He's very clear at explaining his improv process. I just want to chime in here to mention that there are other forms of improvisation beyond comedy improv in which different techniques are used to produce improvisational theatre: dramatic , narrative and physical theatre.

Find a group that does improv in your area.

What does Sam mean at the beginning when he says "at the beginning of each show there's a improv tradition I know it I know it happens at Iowa..."? Did Sam or Keegan do improv at the University of Iowa?
