  • Hi everyone! In this week's video I'll try to figure out how to correct a poor design choice I made on the Flamingo Combat Robot, where I used some ball joints for the ankles, which were to weak to support the weight of the robot. Join me as I try to come up with a solution to keep this beloved scratch build project safe :)

I love this because its not often I've seen videos from model makers actually going BACK to previous models and updating / repairing / resolving issues created during the initial build! ❤❤😊

Printing support pieces with 100% infill will help them not deform later on, and stay very strong over time.

Or even just printing them with some kind of internal lattice.

I don't think it was dumb to use PLA, since it usually good enough for models - but I have also learned the lesson that PLA can sag over time if there is a lot of load and heat on the parts. I bet you could still use 3D printed brackets if you had thru-bolts that could clamp the far sides and keep them from splaying out over time. Regardless, loving the rebuild and glad to see the Flamingo is still kicking!

Oh I meant relying only on the pressure from the pla over a ball joint :) thank you so much

Try some tamiya masking tape. Does a way better job than that paper stuff. The paint loves crawling under!

Tamiya stuff is so expensive around here it's not even an option :(

@@CutTransformGlue Look for cheaper masking tape that is similar. Tamiya is expensive allover the world I guess :p that's why I refill my "contact cement" with ethylacetate. 20 cents instead of 6$.

    Wonderful job man!

Compared to your refit methods and due to my model kits being fully kitbashed with heavy use of epoxy putty, my rendition of fixing bad design choices tends to be far more....destructive......and usually involves a large saw.

Can I ask if your robots are actually movable ? I always thought that they are monoposed , but in this video feet has real joints

Some of them are, cause I keep the pieces separated! I might glue some parts together in the end, but did not do it on this ball joint

    Hi love your videos ❤
KitbashCarnage hear at the age of 31 iv recently got back into the warhammer/kitbashing community agen after taking 15year brake to pay bills and so on .
I have taken the leap head on and started a youtube channel along with Instagram, Facebook and Tiktok. It's hard with this algorithm thing is somthing to get used to along with editing and so on but my love and the flame for my lost passion has been reignited more then ever and dont plan on stopping soon .
Along with having lots of content plans and already in the pipeline and also a Revamp to all social media with new header picture and profile picture from a digital contractor I sorced I hope to just gain more traction to the community iv came back to 🔥
