He grew up in a rich family in Detroit, tried to be a rapper for probably 10+ years, that didn't work so he reinvented himself and mixed his rapping with rock guitars when Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, etc. were blowing up. He doesn't fit any genre, he is his own. In one of his songs (American Badass) he cites his influences as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bob Seger, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, Beastie Boys and Grandmaster Flash. So he's all over the board.
Kid rock is fron detroit amd was originally a rapper then started infusing rock then trying his hand at Southern rock / country. Very talented. He was the first white boy out of Detroit followed by insane clown posse followed by Eminem.
Hilarious, this song had the "[RADIO EDIT]" little drop in it originally but the rest was broadcastable. This version had "paint his wife white" censored among other things that nobody thinks need to be censored.

More kid rock. My cousin Chy loved the song "Picture" by kid rock because it reminded her of her father who died when she was young. She listened to this song over and over. Chyenne died in a car accident a couple years ago, a week before she turned 21 yrs old.. I wish I had played it at her funeral tbh. It's a much different vibe than this song btw. It's worth a listen.

Kid rock is the best live performance you can see. I hated kid rock and went to a concert of his with some rock and country legends with a girl years ago. And I left completely blown away at the talent of him and his entire band, they stole the show and it wasn’t even close.

From how I nb heard of him was he played shows non stop during the early 90s. He was a non stop hard work ethic kind of guy.
You guys should do some C.O.C. aka Corrosion Of Conformity. They're a Southern band that plays a variety of heavy styles from hardcore punk to thrash to what can only be described as a mix of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Sabbath and 90s Metallica. Their most iconic album was 1994's Deliverance.
Kid did the rap/ rock thing because he knew it would sell. After that he started singing and writing “ Americana music “ along the same as John Mellencamp, bob segar, Tom petty what have you. I will say so far he’s not risen to their ability but I think he will if he continues to make music.

Kid Rock started in Detroit in the 90’s and was well known locally as a rapper. His influences were the Beastie Boys and Run DMC. He then got world wide fame and his style graduated to include more rock and country. He’s known to be a very approachable and personable guy, not Hollywood but humble from the midwest. He also found and produced Gretchen Wilson (you’ll see him in her music video with Hank Williams Jr). I would love for you guys to check him out! I love his music.
