Changed quite a bit since my first day of service 28/8/1970. I still think the steel alloy wheeled escape was a more stable ladder than the whippy 135 ladder. But those wheeled escapes must have cost a fortune hence they were replaced! I also vividly remember getting a bollocking by my Guv for crunching every gear change in the crash-gear-box on a shout but on the way back every change was as sweet as a nut! Those were the good old days!
I thought the ladders looked lighter. I was watching a Hereford & Worcester video of a ladder drill and I was amazed at how much it flexed. The ladders we used back in the 70's were more robust, and quite a bit heavier I'm sure!
Are lockers still set out to Home Office standard? The idea being that any firefighter can go to any appliance and know exactly where to find the item he or she is looking for!
Leo Bruce why are the Dennis sabres so good and what’s the difference between the scanias and so Dennis not make them anymore? I’m new to this tuff so any help would be appreciated
May I ask why you select the 320 bhp option? yes it has more torque so are they much better on hills and at setting off, and is there much difference cost wise between the 320 and 280?.
barty 4&6 yeah they are definitely faster than the Dennis but the Dennis is noisy in the cab but I think Dennis fire engines are brilliant but there part of history now 👍🇬🇧
I take mine with me on the job, and in case it's necessary I can simply call the dispatch center, a colleague, my boss with my phone .. what's wrong with that
We have a scania 280 on station and it’s the worst thing they ever give us I’ll have a Dennis any day didn’t get half the problems with the Dennis as we do with the scania it’s rubbish in the wet and it’s to fat to fit down some of the small roads here in Cambridge
my dad is a firefighter in Cambridgeshire and he drove his friend Dennis firengine and he says it’s brilliant and he drives the Scania P280 light pump and he likes it
John Johnstone I beg to differ, although I think it depends on personal taste! Still, the fact is north Wales has had new pumps practically identical to these scania's for about 2 years now. Also appliance equipment, PPE and station facilities are all newer and of better quality in north Wales. However, I admit that Cheshire are a lot more community based - they interact with the public through things like station open days, courses such as biker down, visiting schools, cadets, princes trust award etc. Cheshire are far more a community fire service - north Wales don't even have station open days!
Everything Mechanical north Wales have open days. Cadets/YAF, a lot of school visits and have a department that supports communities. Although Cheshire has done a lot of community work, NW is more or less the same.
We got a batch of 4 of the Volvo fle and 3 out of the 4 were off the run within the week and all on the same day, it seems if anything the newer ones are worse, the electrics are a joke and Volvo blame the body builder and visa virsa! Mind you had 4 MAN 4x4 appliances and within a week 2 had small electrical fires..... we also lost a 60 plate Volvo it caught fire whilst on station, this has also happened in other older Volvo appliances. Not had an open day around here in years now ..... Best wishes Everything.
John Johnstone do you mean Volvo FL6's? The newer ones are FL E-Pumps, and also the north Wales ALP's are all Volvo FL10's. The MAN appliances are a joke. They are a death trap and that's why they are used as driver training pumps in NWFRS. What station are you based at? Wrexham?
Wait...wait.. you have a fucking food heater and the driver has his own on board locker to store his teas and coffees? Just fucking wow.... Digital touch screen pump control panel is a horrible idea, when you have guys on the line and it fails can you go back to manual pump operations? Looks like no.

I love it when he said Hooligan Bars. 😆
I thought the ladders looked lighter. I was watching a Hereford & Worcester video of a ladder drill and I was amazed at how much it flexed. The ladders we used back in the 70's were more robust, and quite a bit heavier I'm sure!
When did the halligan tool get renamed hooligan?
I've only ever called it the hooly bar, same as most of the guys I know. Must be a regional thing?
It’s always been a hooligan bar in the U.K.
Haha, I noticed that too. I may have to call ours that from now on.
It was invented by chief halligan FDNY. That’s why it’s called “halligan” the uk called it a hooligan tool/bar, I think it got lost in translation.

has the e-cab and digital pump panel made it easier for operations? Or does it break a lot more often?
Looks great! Love the Scanias :D
The Dennis Sabre's great. I'm just a fan of Scania trucks overall, not just fire appliances :D
Where I'm at we have a Scania WL, Dennis Sabre XL & ERF SS263 Hydraulic Platform. Love using them. Sad to hear the Sabres are going though
Leo Bruce my station in Essex just got a new 280
Leo Bruce local station is clacton

Red Shutter Photography because of all the kit we selected the p320 as it’s quicker, bigger and we got given a great deal on the p320
Has it got any storage though?
Samara Weaving yea it has but not a lot most of it will be filled with small gear and crew ppe
It should have. Enough room it will have begin specaily designed
I like the dinner tray up front
Stowed or stored
How long is the hose pipe
CTJ893 66 meters
Have the Unions let there members drive it yet, or is it still sat in the workshop.
If the Union hasn’t approved it, perhaps the employer hasn’t consulted on it properly
Do they have a radio so you can listen to music
dude, who listens to music when your on your way to emergency ?
That would be me, and most crews at my station, no matter of we're going to the scene or back to the station
EnjoyFirefighting - International Emergency Response Videos as
Yes they do
There so clever who designs the new firefighting equipment and fire engines
and yet the dennis sabre next to it is still a better machine than scania and volvo put together
Dennis sabre and Rs are solid machines but scanias are good aswell
@@tjd4982 will they beat Dennis when I think fire engine I think Dennis
Dennis sabre is an old fire engine volvo and scania is better
barty 4&6 yeah they are definitely faster than the Dennis but the Dennis is noisy in the cab but I think Dennis fire engines are brilliant but there part of history now 👍🇬🇧
no they don't sabers are old and clumsy they were good back in the early 1990s and 2000s but now adays no there out dated
Yuh-huh, good job bros!
that hose reel seams an awkward place to make up. rear lower locker much better
What is a TRANSVEND?
Basically a water heater/ kettle 👍
It's a female back to back instantaneous coupling!
keep safe nice weekend
transvend is just a civilian version of the kettle in army tanks
- USB charging points for phones lol
what's wrong with that ? there humans aswell, they can have phones.
not on the job
well there not using it while on emergency calls are they ? they do have break times just like us.
I take mine with me on the job, and in case it's necessary I can simply call the dispatch center, a colleague, my boss with my phone .. what's wrong with that
that's ok, you just cant use it for social networking or friends.

Stowage. You mean storage 😂
same thing
Stowage is a word widely used. Like stowage compartment.
Like a consumer unit and fuse box.
