My dad is a 52-53 year old man who was born on the island of Puerto Rico, and he has been obsessing over this band for months. I never really checked them out, but saw this Vid cme up and watched it. They are seriously amazing musicians and i can see every bit of why he's so i to their music (and they're beautiful to see on stage), and seeing you react with your dad just makes this even better. Thank you man, and thank your dad for being a part of this. And of course thank these ladies for their art.
    Much love from Rhode Island.

I saw these ladies in Europe in 3 concerts, not one, 3, do you understand,
    in 2019.
After the first concert, I followed them for a week for half of Europe.
I am an old music lover of all genres and in 45 years of concerts, I have seen all the biggest bands from the 70s to today.
And I can tell you these Band-Maid in concert rock crazy, straighten your body hair for 2 hours.
With the Band-Maid you first listen to the CD then go to the concert and they kill you by playing even better in concert and you remain as if petrified wrapped in this perfect sound thunderstorm that they know how to create, the impressive sound quality at the concert never heard such a thing, you hear every little detail of everything even though it's all really impressive super high power.
Saiki the singer can literally melt you by going from moments of elegance and sweetness to moments of a true dark queen, she masters the stage as I have not seen for decades.
Akane the drummer surprises you with unthinkable drum lines, and keeps laughing and smiling for two hours as he plays like there's no tomorrow, and looks as happy as a little girl who enjoys smashing everything, and Akane can literally smash you.
for the other components Miku second voice and rhythm guitar, Misa on bass, and Kanami's spectacular lead guitar I am writing to you when you make the next video on Band-Maid so you are now inside and you have no more escape. Hi

"No thinking, just feeling." Band-Maid was created by Miku Kobato (rhythm guitarist/main lyricist/secondary vocalist) with the term "Gap" in mind. The idea of 5 women in cute maid outfits that come out and play hard, heavy, cool music. The shock of seeing them and then hearing them is what the "Gap" is. Where your expectations totally destroyed. They have worked hard for quite some time to become one of, if not the best rock bands in the world. They have a massively great discography filled with all types of rock music, all equally well written, played, arranged and sung. Of course I am biased, but, I believe them to be the best writers and arrangers today. You'll get a whole lot of recommendations, because they have a whole lot of great songs. Enjoy the journey!

Girls rock hard!! Why can’t girls wear costumes? The men in KISS get to wear costumes. The costumes do not diminish or take away their work.

I agree. Along with being impressive, Band-Maid is *_fun_* (even though Miku's lyrics can be quite serious). The costumes just add another fun element, especially in contrast to the 'Maids' aggressiveness and intensity.

Since I'm a big Rush and Band-Maid fan, and I know you like Rush, I'll point out a couple of reasons I love them both. Pay attention to the work that goes into crafting their songs. There are a lot of details that reward the careful listener. The second verse is going to almost always be different than the first, and almost always better (The song builds as it progresses). They don't copy/paste sections.
At it's core it's rock, but there are elements of many styles of music incorporated. I call them the Queens of Contrast. The look vs. style is obvious, but there is very stark contrast within many of the songs. Moratorium is a good example of this. It goes from grungy metal to poppy chorus w/ clean guitar in the blink of an eye. People love to categorize, but similar to Rush, it's really impossible to put them into a single category accurately. They are blazing their own path.

They often gather around the drum Akane during the performance. They are playing "staring contest" with Akane who cannot move. It's a proof of their good friendship. In "Freedom", you can see Akane's funny face trying to make members laugh and the lead vocalist Saiki and bass Misa laughing.

Best band i discovered the last 15-20 years... I wasn´t into an band like this since i discovered Pendulum in around 2000-2002 (totally different kind of music). I don´t like metal so much, for me it´s too chaotic and heavy... Nightwish f.e. is too dramatic, doesn´t mean it´s bad, it´s great, just not my "jam". Band-Maid is playing this rockstyle, with so much influences from jazz, blues, pop, rock, metal, punk, they don´t care about genres, it´s so refreshing and damn good! You should check out more and you can choose ANY song, it doesn´t matter, they have almost 100 songs and there is no bad Band-Maid song. If you also consider they are writing the songs on their own, the lyrics, they are a bunch of friends and having so much fun and LOVE their fans, that´s the cherry on this yummy icecake names Band-Maid. Greetings from Germany, i am happy you enjoyed the ladies and stay healthy!

First, Band Maid is the best rock band on the planet at the moment! Second, it's interesting to me that back in the day, yes I'm dating myself, when The Runaways and Suzie Quatro toured Japan, the Japanese culture was not used to female performers, now there a a lot of good all female or female fronted bands there. Quite a shift for the good! I think good music transcends language and Band Maid is a great example of that!

FROM JAPAN Thank you for Reaction Band-Maid. They are hard rock band and are now considered by fans to be one of the best hard rock bands in the world. They usually perform 23 songs and 2 hours live. They were formed in Japan in 2013 by side guitarist Miku Kobato. Kobato had experience working at a maid cafe in Akihabara Tokyo and had the idea of playing hard rock in a maid costume. That's why the band was named Band-Maid. "Thrill" was their first music video in 2014, played 2 million times in two weeks and saved them from breaking up. At that time they were just around 20-23 years old. And then they have been doing LIVE overseas and increasing their fans. Now they are writing, composing and arranging all the songs. 30 songs have been released on their official UA-cam, all of which are killer songs.
They will release a new song "Different" on December 2nd and a full album "Unseen World" in January 20 next year.
It was announced that the new song "Different" will be the theme song for the animation "Log Horizon 3rd season Round Table Collapse" that start in January 13 next year on NHK E-TV (educational broadcast) Japan.
    Official UA-cam ua-cam.com/users/BANDMAIDvideos?view=0&sort=dd&shelf_id=2126
For hard rock, "Secret my lips," "Rinne,"
    "DICE."
    "PLAY." and
    "Onset."
For ballads, "Wonderland ," "Endless story ,"and "Daydreaming"
For a fun live, "FREEDOM(Live) ," "CROSS", and "Choose me"
Japanese style "Secret maiko lips" and "GION-CHO"
My most favorite songs right now are the "Puzzle" band version and the acoustic version.
Next, their latest Live work "PLAY" 2020 2.14 Sibuya Tokyo Live would be good.
For studio music videos, "DICE" is a good choice. (^^♪

Band Maid is the best band to come around in decades, hands down! The more you explore their catalog the more you will be impressed with their musical brilliance. About a month from now you will be kicking yourself for not knowing about them earlier.
New single "Different" is out on 12/2/20 and new album "Unseen World" on 1/20/21.

@@snowdog5895 There's a reason why I feel that way. I saw Rush at the Hammersmith Odeon in the 80s. OUTSTANDING! But, bands like Thin Lizzy and UFO actually were better concerts. Not necessarily technically, but LIVE they really exploded, and what BAND-MAID does. Rush sounded exactly like their albums. Impressive and technically mind blowing, but lacked any kind of spontaneity. Not being ridiculous, just my experience and take away. :)

I love Band Maid. The whole band and maid costumes were Miku's (rhythm guitar) idea. She used to work in a Maid cafe in Japan and thought it would be cool to dress as maids and play a type of music you wouldn't expect them to play. They call that "The Gap". They put on a great show. Was lucky enough to catch them in concert in NYC last year.

  • @armynurseboy
    @armynurseboy 4 роки тому +13

FYI, this was song #22 out of a 23 song concert....
And the concept of the maid outfits was done on purpose. It was intended to create "The Gap", the mental dissonance between what you see and expect to hear, and what you actually hear. It makes your first time experiencing them that much more memorable.

They are simply amazing. This reminds me of when I discovered Led Zeppelin or the Beatles when I was a kid. Welcome aboard, Daniel & Daniel's dad... I mean Dethstrok8. You guys are embarking on (along with many others - over 90 million YT views!) an awesome hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:

BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Consistency (nearly 100 songs with their latest album, “Conqueror”, and a new drop coming Jan. ‘21), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destine for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off the rails spectacular.
Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 50 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: ua-cam.com/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/v-deo.html Their later songs drive even more - Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Glory, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, Marage and Smile... or more punky like Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts! And many are represented with over 30 well produced music videos. ua-cam.com/users/BANDMAID
Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE concerts such as Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA on February 14th (“Domination” ua-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/v-deo.html), ZEPP 2018, Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and some of the better 2019 tour Fan vids. Here’s three of what it’s like to see Band-Maid LIVE at super intimate venues. The first taken by Vladimir Chupin in Hamburg: ua-cam.com/video/__1th7ctgMo/v-deo.html, the second taken by JT Dayo in LA: ua-cam.com/video/4uIYBkAybCI/v-deo.html, and third, JOSER8845 in LA: ua-cam.com/video/usWZvlGGDSs/v-deo.html. If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, CD, DVD/BD & Merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo
Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. For fun, check out an awesome, little known "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009
Band-Maid members are: (Ages are best est.).
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements, melodies and High Priestess mediator between the Gods (Band Members) and the masters and princesses (Fans). At 26 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Leader) as Miku calls her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away the persona. Her charisma, performance and voice focus the experience.
Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 29 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kurrupo! No, no, no… KURRUPO!!
Kanami Tono (Ka-Naw-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 29 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more!
Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 29 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumRilla” is the Party!
MISA (Me-Sa) "Assassin" - Bass, 28 years old. A sullen, barefoot, dark spirit driving her 5-string bottom-end to hell and back, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. The Mysterious One literally kills it… every note.. uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA!

Miku's lyrics are difficult to translate, they are pretty sophisticated. If you want to hear their hardest song, do the MV "Rinne". And do their pure instrumental "Onset".
Japan has a lot of all female bands, rock, metal, and punk. And they often have a "look." Japanese bands seem to thrive on audience interaction and they tend to be great live with a high caliber of playing. For classic power & thrash metal, Lovebites would be a great choice, especially since they sing in English. Another great choice is the relatively new Nemophila ( the Latin-Greek genus name of the "baby blue eyes" garden flower). Their original material is mostly in Japanese but they have done some great of covers of Iron Maiden, Linkin Park, Helloween, AC/DC, and Kiss where they do sing in English. These are studio lives.

The Japanese music scene is wicked. The idea of the Maid outfit is to show the gap( as the Japanese say) the difference from the conservitive to the power of their music.Have fun learning Band Maids music...PS love your reactions,,,I'm 64 and still rockin

    Hey fellas. Great reaction.
I became a Band Maid fan 4-5 months ago. 63 yo. Grew up in the Detroit area on Motown music and my mother's Herb Alpert. Loved them both. Found AM pop, rock, etc. in the 60's. Then discovered FM radio and Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Zeppelin, Yes, ELP, etc. Now I'm a big Joe Satriani fan, as well as Metallica, Lacuna Coil, Jinjer, Slipknot, and so on.
My first BM song was "Thrill". Saw it as a suggestion on a YT comment. I was intrigued. Second, was "Play" from the 2018 Zepp show I think, and I was blown away. My third, and my "holy s**t" moment, was this "Domination" video. I now have their last two CD's, this Shibuya DVD, Just Bring It cd is in the mail, and I'm looking for a "cost effective" source for Brand New Maid. And patiently awaiting their next release due out in January, 2021.
My point here is: their live performances are pretty incredible and I love how much fun they have while doing it. However, there is so much more to discover in their studio recordings. I suggest MV's of "Dice", "Alone", "Blooming", and "Rinne" to start. Kanami (lead guitar}, MISA (bass), and Akane (drums) are all world class musicians and you can hear their individual genius in these recordings. Miku has blossomed into a good rhythm guitarist, and the Saiki/Miku vocals are wonderful.
Oh, and I could give a rats a$$ about the language or maid outfits. I can always look up the translation if I want, same as Rammstein.

"Onset" will melt your face! Plus, it's an instrumental. (So, you don't have to worry about lyric interpretation.)
I've read many comments to 'get over' the maid outfits. It worked. Pure fire! 🔥
    I'm hooked.

The use of maid costumes is the create the "Gap". Meaning the difference between what you are seeing "demure maids" vs what you are hearing Hard Rock. The "Gap" is very popular with Japanese bands. Prior to the band all of the members were professional session/backing musicians/singers. MISA (bass), Akane (drums) and Kanami (lead guitar) were taking piano lessons at 4yo, not uncommon in Japan. Best Rock Band in the world right now. US tour last year was 5 sell-outs in NYC, Dallas and LA. They have toured in Europe regularly for several years.
Remember "No matter how good you think you play a musical instrument, there is a Japanese Lady who plays it better than you." (stolen)
As to Japanese bands you still have Babymetal, Lovebites, Aldious, Mary's Blood, and the greatest metal band you never heard of XJapan (now disbanded). Have fun!!

It’s not that they need the maid outfits, they like the outfits. They think of them as their battle armor. Miku, rhythm guitarist/vocalist/lyricist, founded the band based on her own years of waitressing in maid cafes singing songs to people’s food! So she liked the idea of this cuteness juxtaposed with the heavy
    music.💪🏻🤘🏻

Congrats on discovering the best rock band on the planet. Found these ladies early this year and I've listened to nothing else since. I haven't seen a band in a long time approach the talent, chemistry and showmanship these young ladies possess. They formed the band on their own, compose their songs themselves since 2016 and play everything with smiles on their faces like they're just 5 best friends having fun. You really can't go wrong with whatever you choose next but like others have said usually you want to go live over MV as they have extended intros and solos for some live versions. The MVs to watch over the live imo are "Dice" and "Rinne" and maybe "Blooming" as it's such a beautifully filmed MV.

As I'm sure others will talk about, the maid gimmick is specifically used to create a "gap" in your mind between what you're seeing and what you're hearing. They're just absolute musical beasts, so talented on their instruments. Thank you guys for doing this together, it's fun to watch!

MISA!!!! MISA!!! MISA!!!!! Badass Bass Assassin. The best Hard Rock band right now. You pick a good song to be your 1st reaction. Their MV are very good but their Live videos are 10 times better. They have so much fun on stage and with each other. Always high energy from start to finish at every concert. I've seen them twice here in LA and the experience is off the charts. Their Maid outfits and the hard Rock music is the "Gap" that Band-Maid is trying to achieve. Their music reminds me of the Rock I grew up with in the 70's.
B-M 4 Life probably already has given you the 411 on these 5 talented musicians. Check out the Live versions of Play, Onset, Freedom, Don't You Tell Me, Moratorium, Puzzle (both versions) and Real Existence

Very nice reaction. Nice to hear your thoughts on the lyrics. I would like to add a tiny bit of info that may shed another light on the lyrics.
When they started out, the agency they had signed with would not allow them to play their own music. When they suggested doing an original song, written and composed by them, they would always be told “no”.
It took quite a while until they finally were allowed to do their own thing, but they never gave up.

The first song they have written completely by themselves was [alone]:
      www.reddit.com/r/BandMaid/comments/hf1cyq/interview_with_bandmaid_on_jungle_life_on_20160610/
      ++++++++++++++++
      - You realize you have been evolving.
Miku: Yes. We want to keep evolving all the time.
Kanami: We’ve been trying to improve ourselves more and more every time we make a record.
      - This time you wrote and arranged Track 8 Alone all by yourselves. Was that your first try?
Miku: It was just my first time to co-write lyrics. Actually, we’ve been writing songs for long. Alone is our first ever song finally approved.
      - So you have been writing songs.
Miku: Yes. Our song was approved for the first time finally in our third year.
Saiki: We showed it and got rejected, and we refined it again and again. So if you include that, its production time was extremely long.
      - So it took a long time to write the current form from its demo.
Kanami: Basically I’m the one who writes a demo to some extent, then all of us refine it together. We also discuss with staff members again and again… It took probably a few months like that. We completed it while discussing like “let’s change the phrase like this” or “how about changing the development like this to have a storyline?”
      ++++++++++++++++

Welcome to the world of Band Maid! You will become a MAIDIAC! Resistance is Futile!
You will learn soon enough that these ladies ROCK!
They are a very talented group. They are all well trained in various instruments.
As for the costumes - Angus Young wore a school boy uniform his entire career with AC/DC. The costume does not have to be in line with the song or the bands sound. The fact that they can play as well as this and still be having fun doing it and not have to resort to Lingerie to sell the sex side of their femininity.
Miku refers to the costumes as "the GAP" the costumes are there to throw off the first time viewers like all of us were at one point.
Here is a rig run down of their equipment - they know how to use them too!
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
KANAMI TONO - plays PRS Custom 24 - Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifier.
Miku Kobato - plays Zemaitis C24MF - EVH Amps
Misa - plays Black Cloud "Smoker" and Privat Reserve (SG Style) bass - Orange Amps
Akane Hirose - Plays TAMA drums with Zildjian Cymbals
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
There will be many many suggestions for the next song. There will NOT be a bad choice.
Later if you are only into videos - try FREEZER - no video but listen to the song!

They are not the most technically brilliant band although they are no slouches. They don't really pander to certain fans or try to become more popular by trying to do more accessible or popular music, but they are writing and performing what they love and appreciating that there are fans that like it too. And their music happens to be fantastic. They are also 5 really quirky and adorable dorks when you get to learn more about them. It just won't work without any of the 5 members present.

Hi Daniel and Dad! I am soooooooooooooo glad to see you finally branch into the Japanese music scene. There are so many amazing bands over there that rarely get credit outside Japan ... but of course, Band-maid is the best of the best. A lot of the acts from Japan have been learning English and Spanish and have in recent years branched out on World tours. Band-maid is no exception. They did shows in L.A. and N.Y. before the pandemic hit and released their single The Dragon Cries in English produced by David Bowie's ex-producer Tony Visconti. I think the best thing about Band-maid is when you hear the live-version of a song and the studio version they're 2 entirely different experiences. Which one is better is always subjective to the listener.
What you said about the costumes not being needed is true but I think it was Vince Neil back when Motley Crue was all glammed out that said "they come for the gimmick but stay for the music".
Oh, if you want to know more in detail about the band-members there are actually a lot of interviews now up on UA-cam subtitled in English. It's easy to see how much fun the band is.
There's also a story about Akane (the drummer), that I'm sure you'd both find interesting. At one of their pre-pandemic (2018 or 2019 I believe) concerts a fan made it a point to speak to Akane following the show. The fan was Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin. He informed Akane that not only was he a fan of her's but also told her how much she reminded him of John Bonham. She promised to live up to his praise.

I found Band-Maid about two years ago while being bored at work watching silly Japanese Music videos. (see Baby Metal "Gimme Chocolate"). They kept popping up in my recommendations, but the thumbnail clearly showed them wearing silly Maid costumes. But hey, that day I was watching silly videos.
OMFG! is all I can say. After you watch and listen to these musicians you will never think of them as silly.
The first thing I focused in on was the Drummer. I had assumed this was just another Pop-Idol group where the girls just sing and dance, looking cute as they do their thing. But from the first ("Start Over") the Drummer was clearly playing a funky tasteful groove. It went from this kind of light guitar pop to slowly built up piece that had me clicking on the next one on the list: "Thrill." A total throwback to 80s Hard Rock nearly Metal. The drummer is sprinkling in double pedals and just keeping it rock solid. At this point I'm impressed and had to keep going.
"Real Existence" is what put me over the edge. Akane (I had read the comments to find out her name at this point) goes completely Keith Moon wild on the drums while never losing control. Each verse, each chorus and the guitar solo all have multiple sub sections on the drums.
So, after watching every last official video on their channel multiple times, made my first iTunes purchase EVER (and first money spent on new music in DECADES) I called up a friend of mine who had played guitar professionally in Japan back in the 90s. "Dude, I just found THE MOST AMAZING Japanese band! and they're all girls! and all dressed up li...." "Oh, you found Band-Maid, here, let me send you a link" ONSET. I think I cried as Kanami tapped on the strings.

Babymetal has a hell of a lot more to offer than "Gimme Chocolate", which was their gateway to the west because of it's WTF level. They lifted off on a global scale since then. How about giving some room to WTF and "silly", because it seems to be your Achilles heel in discovering new music.

I know some people pick on them for what they wear, but come on people...consider Kiss and how out there they looked. These ladies are pretty tame next to that look lol XD. Love that they gave each musician their own solo in this performance ♥
edit: when they all gathered around the drummer, they were making faces at her trying to make her laugh and lose her rhythm. it's a bit of a running joke that she never loses the rhythm for anything, even if she's laughing lol

This song is from the album World Domination, my favorite of Band Maid but all the albums have a great quality with over 20 masterpieces. I find it curious that it is one of the few bands that most of their masterpieces are not singles or do not have a video on their official UA-cam page. I don’t think there’s any right order to watch their stuff. Anything on their main UA-cam channel is a safe bet. Lots of already good suggestions of the main ones but there’s sooooo many other ones. I would say save “alone” for a specific time because that song is significant as the first song composed by the band (mostly lead guitar kanami) and got them the green light to continue to compose all their own stuff (domination is one of them). Lyrics wise rhythm guitarist miku was already writing and continues to do so. Also if you wanna go further back “thrill”is their breakout song with most views that if it didn’t blow up, I think they were on the verge of breaking up.

The maids are the real deal. More to react to? Rinne, Dice, Choose Me, Alone MV available on their youtube channel. Experiencing their energy and performance skills on stage is a bucket list entry. The two concerts with the best mix in the recordings are from Shinkiba and Zepp Tokyo. The 2020 Feb 14h concert at Shibuya is also good, but the sound includes more of the crowd reaction and is less well balanced than the other two. The Shinkiba and Zepp concerts should really be released as a dvd/blue ray and if there were English subtitles and some English explanation it would surely spread like wildfire. Unfortunately copies of these mind-blowing performances have been deleted from youtube. But if you reach out to the B-M fans, some can surely send you links. There are also copies of some songs on bilibili and other sites. Choose just about anything from these concerts and it is unlikely you will be disappointed. I love The Non Fiction Days, Real Existence, Puzzle, Take Me Higher, Moratorium, Matchless Gum..... They also do some great acoustic songs. About 90% of their catalogue is awesome and the rest good. New single on Dec 2, and new album in Jan 2021.

Try not to think too hard, it may just them telling the world they are coming, boundries consist of culture and language may hinder them but it won't stop any of us from listening to their songs, and they will come no matter what stopping them, they are on their quest for world domination,

They have a great catalog of songs. With a couple of exceptions. I prefer the songs that Kanami composes, the vast majority of their latest music. Those songs are more diverse and intricate. Rinne, Blooming, Real Existence, Dice, Choose Me, Play, Onset, Moratorium, Day Dreaming, Gion Cho, Freedom, Secret My Lips, Secret Maiko Lips

Miku, the rhythm guitarist who formed the band, used to work in one of the cafes in Tokyo's maid cafe area. There are a huge number of wannabe bands on Japan, with cutely dressed girls singing and dancing to light poppy songs. She thought it would be interesting to have a group of young women with the same kind of look, but who were an actual band, and played more aggressive music. I discovered them about 18 months ago, and they rapidly became my favourite band. Another all-female Japanese band I've got into lately are The Let's Go's, who are three women who also play music with a similar energy and character, not to mention sense of fun, but in contrast they play raw, stripped back 70s style punk. Try the start of this live performance from them ua-cam.com/video/HBB3m-lDmnI/v-deo.html If you do the first 3.5 minutes, in true Ramones style, that'll be enough for two songs. Enjoy!

With Band-Maid live is usually better than the studio version because they tend to expand on the song.
In the case of Domination the studio version only has the final guitar solo. The live version has a bass solo, lead guitar solo, rhythm guitar showcase, drum solo and then the guitar solo from the studio recording last.

I've yet to hear a bad Band Maid song. The uniforms are part of the entire presentation and is important to the whole image they project to the very traditional culture of the Japanese people. In their culture the look shows Japanese girls that you can honor traditions but still be themselves and fully express yourself. All these girls were a part of the whole J-Pop scene but got tired of being told what and how to play. The guitarist came up with the concept and with the drummer put together talents they'd worked with previously and made their music outside the industry machine. The look is what got them attention, it is more than a gimmick. It is a very bold statement to look like that and play like that in their culture.
