  • If we are "spiritual beings having a human experience", how might we embrace this experience?
"Your Human troubles help you to discover your divine nature."
    Mooji
"As long as we grab at our divinity and push away our humanity, we aren't free. If you want to be free, you can't push away anything. You have to embrace it all."
    Ram Dass
"It's absolutely essential that you become at ease with your humanness."
    Adyashanti
"Acceptance means you allow yourself to feel whatever you are feeling at that moment... You can't argue with what is. Well, you can. But if you do, you suffer."
    Eckhart Tolle

You made a video a bit ago titled "Try Softer" and another more recently about self love and acceptance, and those ideas came at a phase in my spiritual journey when I really needed them, and they gave me some peace and strength and renewal when I had reached a point where I realized that life, and struggle, and being human was going to go on, and I wasn't going to be transported to some higher plane of bliss and perfection. At least, not now. In fact, "try softer" has become a phrase that comes to me now any time I feel myself getting discouraged with the process and realize that my human will is once again trying to take control and "make it happen". I feel like I've received messages that self love and acceptance ARE the way forward, and the way to gradually untangle all those old, snarled patterns that keep my higher power imprisoned in my egoic self. It is, indeed, a process for most of us, and if we accept it with love and patience and hope, we can continue down the path rather than allowing ourselves to be sabotaged by impatience and discouragement and unrealistic expectations . Thanks, Nada, you have a voice that speaks to me.

Being in the world, but not of it -- that's a headspace I desperately need to be in. It would do wonders when dealing with those negative and intrusive thoughts that derail me from time to time.

Beautifully said. Resisting the human experience is definitely the wrong way to go about your spiritual journey. It only leads to self-loathing and major unhappiness. And besides the harm it does to oneself, it harms other people as well. At least from my experience. When I try to repress my negative feelings, I become more judgemental and demanding of others as well.

Shadow work is always the hardest as you have to face off with aspects of yourself when you feel like doing anything but. While often negatively affected by the things you need to delve into. This can reduce your energy, but when your work is done nothing is more uplifting as you shed and grow in a sense. Thanks for new insights! 💙✌

I'm glad you're still making videos, and congratulations on your success. It is well deserved. Your advice is always top notch, genuine, and you never come off as an arrogant UA-cam guru who is jumping on the spiritual bandwagon. It is clear that this is your purpose and passion, that you are humble, and that you have personally lived by your own words or are at least giving it your energy and attention. Great work, people need this advice more than ever. Your channel should be shown every day starting in middle school.

I am feeling a lot of synchronicity here. I can really relate to this approach, and how refreshing it is. No guilt no shame. I am practicing, just being myself, and just noticing what that is. What a relief it is. So consequently, I am finding myself liking myself more and more. Maybe I am headed towards actually loving myself, thus loving you all.🙏❤

    • @howardcohen6817

      I'm happy for you, Gary.
I enjoy being me and working through all the interesting and difficult contact-points with the "not-me". My arms are shorter or longer than the next person's, I enjoy a little more or less sleep as the next one's etc. And my body is constantly changing, too, so that I've no absolutes to rely on. Instead, it's the uncertainty of it all that's so fascinating. But this isn't why I'm writing to you.
I remain unconvinced of the notion that I will be able to love others (finally) by loving myself. Yes, disliking myself precludes liking others but liking myself forces my concentration to find myself - but what then is doing this finding? and what really is being found? More pertinently: which of these is then able to love others? - the "found" part or the "finding" part. Feeling connections with others which connections come from the love which abounds is easy when I don't attempt to hinder this flow of love. I hinder out of distrust and self-dislike but also out of fear of being hurt (again). I remind myself that I've survived that past hurt and need not fear it and by catering to this fear, I'm stopping something beautiful from happening. By letting go of this, I'm back in the here and now with those who are really here (and not with my projection based on past experience - and fear - of who they might be and what they might do to me). I wish you the best in your efforts to love others. I remember that love is not mine, but is being shared with me and which I in turn share with others. I don't misuse it for opportunistic goals. Love.

That is why I consider the method of Self Inquiry as proposed by Ramana Maharshi the most practical one. According to it every time a negative feeling arises you don’t reject it you don’t suppress it and don’t judge it but rather you a knowledge it’s existence and Inquiere the nature of the “I” on behalf of whom these feeling arises. Once we recognize the falsity of this “I” every thing that is attached to it tends to disappears little by little. God bless you.

Witnessing and embracing the miraculous unknown occurrences that happen in life. Even if they are nothing like anything that is peaceful, enjoyable, but are difficult and heartbreaking with sadness and disappointment. Even these occurrences are situations where we are learning and understanding the process of being alive with ups and downs that makes us stronger and more open hearted in our empathetic feelings toward others in their hardships.
We don't have to suffer in the painful times, or define ourselves by the depth of our deepest wounds. We all have the choice to be joyous in our grief with our response in gratitude for our blessings of being alive, and other such feelings of love for each precious instant of life unfolding in the mystery.
Life is a process of change and adventures. Living with love for a change of perspective and behavior. It will help you cope and improve your circumstances. Looking at everything you can do to make the necessary decisions for your recovery and your own dream of a new way of being in touch with the flow of energies in honoring your own path and your love. It's really a gentle and respectful way to achieve joy and peace of mind. Stay present and grounded in the love and the grace of following your own unique heart's knowledge. Love is the magic.
Even if you fall on your face you are still moving forward..it is a great quote and it is outrageously crazy but so true 👍 😜 👌 ❤

Dear Nada. I laughed quite a few times while viewing your contribution, here. Thank you. Ahhh, the living entanglements are sooo fascinating. They give me the opportunity to explore this place. Why is it that judgements about unrequited needs are "bad" but those of unrequited fulfillment not so? Yes, I take the human experience as serious as it deserves and explore exactly what this means. As my body changes every day and as the world also changes daily, I'm quite busy with my ever new explorations.
Composers sometimes write technically very difficult passages which, when learned, have no real meaning. Others write meaningful passages in ways which make me spend time and energy with the technical aspects. Both of these are wonderful and enjoyable. Even the technically un-challenging passages which have no meaning - when understood - are wonderful and enjoyable. Of course, those "boring" ones with meaning are also w & e.
Your videos are a great boon for the interworld. Thank you. Love.

I might also like to point out, Nada, that you always "knew" this. Allow joy, too, as part of this human experience.
All this is why we booked this experience as our vacation from eternity (at the eternal travel-agency). When we get back to eternity all will want to hear about our entanglements, joys, pains, laughters and tears. It'll then all be the same. Love.

I find that for me it’s hard to just “be”. I always feel I have to do something…. it is incredibly difficult to wait and trust that everything will turn out as it should. It’s hard to fully trust that you won’t get hurt or undergo more hardship or feel like nothing is happening, then what is it we are supposed to do???
This is the second video I have seen from you. I look forward to more. I am in the midst of an awakening but gave reached a point where I feel the momentum of things has gone and I find myself revisiting the past, which just brings more fear and doubt. There is great wisdom in allowing oneself to just “ be”

If your attitude is that you're on a journey and that in order to progress past this current state you have to accept where you currently are on the journey, then you're deeply, implicitly judging that where you are is not good enough. This is the conundrum I keep coming back to.

Yeah it's all acceptance I've realized that everything is all about acceptance because it's just we have to realize and know what it is that we need to be accepting and in order to know what we need to be accepting we need to know the truth but it's the final stage of the emotional process is acceptance and so I found that it all comes down to that

    The Guest House

This being human is a guest house.
    Every morning a new arrival.

    A joy, a depression, a meanness,
    some momentary awareness comes
    as an unexpected visitor.

    Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
    who violently sweep your house
    empty of its furniture,
    still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
    for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
    and invite them in.

    Be grateful for whoever comes,
    because each has been sent
    as a guide from beyond.

I think the "spirit" is just the part of you which has experiences of "good" and "bad". This seems like an obvious definition when you realize that even inanimate objects have material experiences, even if they aren't cognizant of them, but we don't think of them as having spirits. With this definition of "spirit", it seems obvious that being "spiritual" just means that you pay attention to the experiences of good and bad, and think that these experiences are important.
