Thank you so much for your video. My Jeep Liberty has almost 260K and it’s still going strong (and I only paid $500 for it.) it has the same issue, wanting to stall and occasionally rough running.
My 05 liberty started idling rough after it warmed up and got out of closed loop. I cleaned everything but the PCV. After watching your video I went out and cleaned the PCV. The engine smoothed out quite a bit. Also noticed my oil level was low only 2 month after an oil change. Refilled that and will keep a sharp eye out for oil use. I wondered why an immaculate jeep with new tires, new diehard battery, new radiator and hoses, new alternator and only a bad head gasket sold for 1200 dollars. I bought a maintenence nightmare. Thanks for your video. You helped me a lot.
Thank you for this video! My car has been having some blue smoke from the exhaust and I read online that this might be an easy fix (fingers crossed). It took me a while to get the vacuum line off (had to wiggle it side to side as I pulled) and then when I was putting in the new PCV valve I was having trouble getting it in far enough to turn. Turns out I had to lubricate the front opening of the new PCV valve with some motor oil in order to get it in far enough to turn. Thanks again!
Didn't realize that thing was a valve, on my 05 liberty pulled it out, was crusted up and stuck, hit it with some good ol wd-40 and shook it up, who knows if it did anything but now I know I might need to replace it, thanks for the vid!
Hey Jimmy! In all honesty anything is possible. Because these are plastic over time they can become brittle, maybe the constant hot/cold cycle from running the vehicle then it sitting for a while could cause some issues. The list can go on and on. If there's a leak somewhere around there always check hose connections, joints, and fittings. With how cheap these PCV valves are, I always recommend just replacing it if you know it's never been changed. A lot of people frown upon changing things that aren't broke or "throwing parts at it." But I've always been the type to do more preventative work to prevent breakdowns or issues. Talk about a long answer to your question... sorry. Yes, it could leak if it's never been changed. 👍
Hey Maty! That is certainly possible. Given how cheap a new PCV valve is I would suggest replacing the PCV and air filter, run it for a few thousand miles and check the air filter again.
I would be more inclined to look toward a faulty oxygen sensor making the computer think it needs to add more fuel. If it feels sluggish combined with high fuel consumption, check the catalytic converter for possible obstruction. Outside of that, go through a good tune up procedure with fuel system cleaner, throttle body cleaning, spark plugs, air filter change, and oil change to see if that helps any. If it's idling high check your throttle position sensor and idle air control valve. Without actually being with the vehicle, there could be multiple things - best advice, have a mechanic you trust give it a once over.
Hey Lauren! The crankcase breather hose should be a pre-formed hose that slips on and off at each end. If it's for the same year and engine size, the part number you're looking for should be: Mopar Part #53031133AE
Hi Ruben! There is a possibility of a bad PCV valve causing oil consumption. There also other issues that can cause loss of oil as well. PCV valves are cheap enough there is no harm in replacing it and see if it helps your issue.
Hey Owen, if you have a small flathead screwdriver try to get it under the vacuum hose and pry at it. Sometimes the heat and dirt make it stick a little bit. I remember it was a bit of a bugger but it will come off.
I feel that man. Took me 45 minutes to get off the vacuum line and valve. Now I'm stuck trying to get the new one on. Definitely a lot tougher than it seems
The way that valve fits and rotates in is a real pain in the butt! I can tell you the beauty of video editing cuts out most of the struggle and cuss words 😂.
@@GearTubeTV after today I believe it! 😆 I ended up taking the side of a hammer and wedging it between the air intake housing and PCV and pushing on the PCV with it. That did the trick surpsingly. But all in all this job took me about 90 minutes. If I did it again though I could probabaly do it in 20 or less. Also thank you for the video, it was definitely helpful!
Thanks! I thought it was funny too! But, you know, holding a camera so you can get the most up close footage instead of using a tripod sometimes means you have to edit things. Thanks for the view though, and hope the video was helpful!

Glad you came across the video! 👍
Did mine to just check, snapped!
Daughter’s 03 Liberty will start normally then shut right off, but not all the time
Wondering if this could be the issue
Great how to video 👍
This video was so helpful. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
what are the two metal pipes right behind the PCV Valve?
To remove old PCV valve on my 05 Limited 3.7 turning it downward was toward firewall. Counter Clockwise
great vid brother.
Much appreciated!
Just realized we have a leak in our 04 and it’s missing that valve completely..
Wow that's weird/interesting/odd/whatever other adjectives you can think of... 🤨
Is the 07 model different because I can't find the pcv valve on it
Did you find it?
I got a leak around there would that leak if never been changed

@@GearTubeTV thanks
I changed mine and still have blueish smoke from exhaust any tips on what else it could be
Oil burning
My 2003 jeep library will run fine but once it gets hot it’ll idle at 2k rpm’s and I was wondering if any of y’all would know what the issue is
لدي نفس المشكله
I got one but it won't fit like the original did, it won't enter enough to turn it
Can having oil in the air filter be a need for a new pcv?

No se hablar en español?
Excellent video! Thank you!
Thanks! I'm glad it was entertaining or helpful, or maybe both! 👍
Hello, a question, I have a 06 liberty 3.7 and high gas consumption, can the pcv valve affect it?

Thank you for the fast and quick reply, i will subscribe 😁
Awesome! Welcome to the GearTube TV family!
Check your 02 sensors that can make u use a lot of oil
my 2007 does NOT have it located there
I'm going through this exact problem with my 04 jeep liberty 😬😬😅
Hey Jennifer. There's about 5 videos total of things to look into replacing. I hope you can get it figured out 👍🏻!
Umm there is another pcv valve drivers side rear of the engine you only changed one of them
man im sitting here still trying to get the vacuum line off with no luck

Spend 10 seconds and take the intake snorkel and filter lid off.
What when ever you say easy. You skipped the video, funny 👎
