I drank so much I remembered the great days I had with your mother, before we drifted apart and became bickering enemies, before you became an obligation and ultimately an incarnation of our own failures.
I regret so many times not telling you I was proud of you. No matter your faults you were the greatest achievement I ever could hope to accomplish in a thousand lifetimes and if in this one you were the only thing I ever achieved, it was a life well spent.
In my Autumn years I feel like I missed so many opportunities to tell you I love you, in the way that family avoids talking about things and leaving them unsaid. In truth I don't know why we do it, as the years go on it seems to be that we treat each other with contempt for things left unsaid. I still miss you and to an extent I still miss your mother but love what she produced from our carnal union.
Alas it seems my time is running out and as my liver is failing I just have but one favor to ask you - can you top your old man off one more time? It's past last call and my brain is starting to sharpen, cutting the innards of my skull to bits.

I am genuinely impressed by the literary talent displayed in “The Coyote Tale” despite being a joke about someone’s insensitive comment. The metaphor of a predatory case of rabies that destroys an entire friend group and everyone it touches is apt for alcoholism. You can feel the fear and guilt and shame the narrator feels over not just his drinking but his actions that are informed by it.

You're creativity and comedic art is amazing, like the roles you take and the sense you build from silly ideas that even lead to profoundly thoughtful critical thinking in a fun way which most people aren't capable of and this leads you right into a gainful present and you'll be well off for all you need because of it. However, you still seek something and that's what you continue to find in your hands, drinking. You burn so hot that your creativity gets fueled by drinking and perhaps this even helps boost your comedic ways, but at what point does your health become something you wish to sacrifice for your passion? I found myself becoming burnt out from that sort of thing but I think you'll keep on creating anyways. So what do you want? Water, or fuel? You'll have great things for yourself either way, but I believe in refinement; there's things in your shadow you need to look into, use that amazing creativity you're so good at to help with your shadow work I know you're very well capable. Its not your fault you feel this way about drinking. You use your platform to speak out and inform people in really smart ways that shouts from the underground and you do it well. I was even afraid from one of your videos from something I've got difficulty facing and you pushed me to face that further. You've got talent but as much as everyone is laughing with your incredible work, you might be hurting yourself with it. If you changed your drinking, your creativity might even take a blow and even lose 15lbs as you take on this role, but as you dance with this struggle emotions that are being pushed away may rise to the surface. You'll see that you have all you need to create without. Even though you've learned to embrace laughter, there's a pain underneath it and needs attention with care. Be kind and more patient with yourself, I sometimes wanna punch myself in the face for the blame and burden I want to carry but perhaps I won't need that one day, I won't need to beat myself up to learn. There's a hidden joy to be found within and the laugh sounds the same.
If you are ok with yourself and this life, you'll still find sunshine.

Ended up, weirdly enough, watching this video while trying to distract myself enough to fall asleep after helping my depressive alcoholic brother who had passed out and pissed himself in bed. The usual routine: replacing his sheets, propping him on his side with towels so he wouldn't aspirate, and tidying his room up a bit (thankfully there was no vomit this time). I then stay up for the hour or so it takes him to progress from babbling, crying out in pain, and laughing incoherently to fully passed out.
That brought me here, of all weird coincidences. This video didn't particularly help settle my mind or relieve me of the thought that he will not survive this addiction, so it looks like sleep will come in an hour or two. The entire thing is a humbling exercise in powerlessness and an upsetting reminder of how little control anybody really has over their life.

The attempts at a montage are chillingly realistic. The worst part is the last 3 or 4 day stint of sobriety, while the whole time you know you are absolutely not going to make it. You might make it one more day, but the day after it's over.
I try to even just take a break from weed every few months. I never make it more than a day. I just don't know how to quit.

    • @Isaacandjed
      @Isaacandjed 3 роки тому +190

Quitting varies from person to person. IDK how often you smoke, but a lot of the time going cold turkey is literally setting yourself up for failure. If you smoke twice a day, cut down to once. If you smoke once a day, cut down to weekends only. Sometimes, in order to not have one now, you just need the next to look forward to. Eventually, you'll find some happy medium - maybe you'll even end up not smoking at all.

@@Isaacandjed I can't speak on addiction to more addictive drugs, but for weed, this has worked for me (previously smoked at least daily). Your willpower is something that needs to be trained. If you want to cut down on your use, get used to saying no, just once. Then twice. Etc. Make every time that you don't give in to your craving something to be proud of, instead of trying to make a 180 change overnight and feeling you've failed yourself when you relapse.

I honestly feel like the whole "counting days" thing is a bad idea. If you actually want to get clean, every day is day one. By counting days you are sort of planning to fail in a way. Because if you break up with your girlfriend on day 150 and go get drunk with your friends, you feel like you lost 5 months of progress, when in reality you have 5 months of proof that you can stop drinking. By never keeping track, you never feel like you lost progress, just that you made a mistake.

I was *not* expecting an SCP-level horror story, god damn, you can craft a narrative, teach. That was creative and entralling, especially turning the rabid foam into the dense fog, that was clever as fuck. I kinda wanna see the story of that Cyote and the madness rabies continue and expand.
Like seriously, the way you described how the sinnew and veins were pulled out as the protag pulled the Cyote off of him, the fact the Cyote followed the crew to the hospital, the drunkenness being used as the explanation for why they all charged the Cyote, the nurse defending the Cyote, the broken window as our PoV character just ran, it was all genuinely so exilerating.

Here's the report on Eric and his groups of friends. When they got drunk they stumbled through an SCP-883 door that transports you to other realities. Fire team Alpha reported back mauled foaming corpses before their signal cut out. Fire teams Beta through Sigma gathered intel through multiple runs but never made it back through SCP-883 after more than 3 trips. Tau through Psi installed a comms system but their last reports were firefights and it seems they were captured.
The reality they were transported to called Earth-1010, is known for its cultists who will stop at nothing to protect their deities. The town of Shanrut worships the rabid fox Jeth, whose bite will turn you into a rabid cultist as well. Every night at sunset the fox spews forth a foamy fog that covers a vast area around town helping drive new prey deeper within. The cultists perform daily tasks like normal to lure in unsuspecting travelers, hoping to use them for convert, food, or trophies. Nearby towns know to stay away during the fog but children, travelers and more tend to stumble through, and it seems the fog calls out with a subtle bell to cultists telling them where prey is. Each soul Jeth consumes spreads his fog further, and makes the night longer. If the SCP-7878 Jeth is not contained his fog could grow strong enough to breach the chaos to other realities.
This is the end of your briefing, are you ready to continue with fire team Omega and step through SCP-883?

I've tried several methods to cut back/quit drinking, with very limited success. Cold turkey was too rough, so I tried regimenting my consumption. That helped for a bit, but I eventually started drinking more after work and generally feeling a lack of fortitude. Everything I tried ended the same and left me with low morale. That's when I started smelling cocaine. Smelling cocaine gave me a real sense of control and focus, to a level I have never felt. I've been completely sober for what has got to be months now thanks to smelling cocaine.

That montage brings back some really rough memories. But some people are lucky enough to quit the first time they try and the rest of us are stuck getting better at it through sheer practice. I've quit so many times, sometimes for years at a time, but this is the first time I actually don't feel like a relapse is completely inevitable. Last time I relapsed i was even able to convince myself to stop before I even had enough to get a hangover. Quitting truly is a skill and developing it to the point where you gain confidence in that skill is such a game changer and makes the weight of the world start to seem manageable.

Also, this video is just amazing and so well done, but I'm worried more about my boy Big Money.
I mean, him making an entire video about it in depth is a sure sign of self awareness. And putting it out there, even if just for himself if it truly has become a real problem at this point, which I could understand for many reasons, I feel is a good sign that he's working on it if so

On a completely unrelated note, your screenname has reminded me of a game I used to play with friends on the school bus as a kid, which we called "Noun-Verb-Noun." Each person would be tasked with thinking of one of the words (first noun, verb/verb phrase, or second noun), and then we'd take turns speaking to make an often hilarious sentence, like "The Pope" "seduced" "Michael Jackson," or "Janis Joplin" "made a burrito out of" "Dr. Phil." If a fourth or fifth person is involved, they get to think of an adjective or adverb to say at the appropriate place in the sentence. With the right friends, it could be quite entertaining.

My raycons are okay I guess, not as loud (and a bit more irritating to cycle through modes)as my AirPods which I lost in my horrible bike accident where I probably shouldn’t have been wearing my AirPods.
My face is still a bit mushy.
Maybe I’m slightly more deaf after the accident, but I was underwhelmed and I’m kinda sad about it that I’ve now switched to to using my standard wired headphones most of the time.
I also took a year off drinking so I can’t even drink away my disappointment for one brief moment.

Not that anyone cares or has a reason to care. I'm a recovering addict and have been in recovery for over 5 years now. I started to try drinking again about 6 months ago and it has been going well, but this is not the norm. At least, that's what they tell you in the meetings. If I start to see myself slipping again, then I know where I need to go. Heroin was my D.O.C though. I couldn't imagine alcohol being my main squeeze because it's literally everywhere and normalized in most societies. If you struggle with addiction, then ask for help. It's okay to be vulnerable sometimes.
Anyways, great video. I thoroughly enjoyed this. New sub 👍
