A long time ago, I came across one of the mods of r/rateme. She was legit insane and one innocuous comment that supremely offended her sent her on a spiral of following me around with numerous alt accounts harassing me.

The ratings should be done by computer to be truly objective. It could measure the distance between the nose and chin, calculate a mark out of 100, and print it out. Then once a year somebody could come into the room, switch the lights on, and take the paper off for recycling.

I IMMEDIATELY wondered how many of the women posted on these subreddits are actually just stolen from Facebook or Instagram photos and uploaded so a man could try and knock a girl down a few pegs or put her in harm's way.
Not surprised that is actually the truth of the subreddits.
I take most of my pictures from people in the UA-cam comment sections, typicality profile pictures of women with coloured hair. They must have videos on their channel with their face plastered all over them so I more easily pretend to be them.

This does feel like a back-to-the-roots commentiquette video, I really enjoyed that. Knowing people frequent these subreddits did make me feel better about myself and my life choices.
I was talking to a really sad incel who pointed to this subreddit as a reason he would never find love because he was rated low (I thought he was a good looking guy, not that it matters much) I went on it and was floored lmfao. I told him everyone on there was insane and the “system,” let alone the idea of attractiveness being objective, was deranged nonsense. He was convinced it was foolproof science or something and told me if I posted I would get rated highly. I did and got 4s and 5s and shit lmfao. Of course this wasn’t enough for him to change his mind about truerateme and looksmaxxing bullshit. Shit is so sad. Glad u made this video, there’s never enough clowning on the people doling out this brain poison

Erik, don't worry - I think you're pretty. I went from a 1.5/10 as a child - people would react with startled horror at my face - to a graceful swan at 25, pushing a 9/10. Women and men threw themselves at me for a couple of years, but time marches on and change is the only constant. Now at 50 I'm back to a 2/10, and once again my face looks like it was applied with a shotgun and a paint stirrer. Circle of life.

I feel like things have changed, 10 years ago, everyone had their own preferences of who they considered a 10, some guys liked thicker girls, some liked thinner, some liked muscular, some liked curvy, some prefered a cute look, some prefered a hot look, some prefered a modest look, some guys liked brunettes, some blondes, some liked girls with ethnic features like bigger noses, or faces with flaws and character made their heart flutter, and that girl was a 10 to them, while everyone each had their own unique preferences, on truerateme only one preference is allowed and it's the specific preferences of the mods and no one is allowed to disagree and everyone needs to think that the mods preferences are the only truth and only allowed way to think. Oh man, Hot or Not brings back memories. I was in high school at the time it was big, and I played it like golf. I made myself look as unappealing as possible and tried to get a low score, but I think some people gave pity ratings because my multiple attempts never got below 3-4, despite my best efforts.

imagine being so obsessed with a completely arbitrary metric (which varies depending on who you ask) that you join a fucking subreddit so more people can spew it at you. that actually sounds like a dystopia.
