Love the 757. Lucky enough to fly on a BA one once (British Airtours). Live under Manchester and EMA flight paths. Regularly saw passenger and now freight (DHL) flights. The sound of their engines are unmistakeable. A beautiful aircraft.
I flew one of the first Eastern 757s to St Maarten. The pilot came through the aisle, excited to tell everyone about the aircraft, that we were at FL410 and what a fantastic aircraft it was to fly. I have since heard from several 75' drivers that it is still their favourite to fly - a great platform and a graceful profile. A shame Boeing didn't think ahead on this. I still see United's 300s coming in and out of ORD - I think some of their 200s went to FedEx for conversion to freight. Great aeroplane!
I flew on a United 757-300 from Denver to Chicago back in January 2019 during a trip to Austria. Since I was in first class, I had the honor of turning ⬅️ to the first class cabin as the 2nd cabin door was used for boarding. Also that bird was inherited from Continental Airlines, which was my favorite airline before that merger. Since United can have mixed reviews on customer relations, it's the former Continental airlines crew that save face for United.
This is a shame. I was a flight attendant for American Airlines for many years and out of all the aircraft I was qualified on, the 757 was my favorite both from a safety view point and a working point of view. The two engines on that plane made it take off like a F-15 fighter LOL. It was because of this that it was the only plane we flew in and out of Vail, CO (EGE) due to the need for a sharp takeoff climb to get over the surrounding mountains. 🌴☀️🌴
Yes I flew on an American Airlines 757. The 757 had fewer problems compared to other beoing types. Looking at long haul routes beoing seems to be the preferred manufacturer for this activity
I remember before 9/11 America West had 4 flights a day back and forth between PHX and SAN. I remember having one almost completely empty. I was a happy little 11 year old running up and down the aisle, looking out both sides. Loved the middle galley!! Such a great aircraft. Will miss this beauty! .
The real genius of the 75/6 was the common type rating, both for pilots and the avionics were interchangeable. Iirc there was an issue with the 767 yaw damper (SB included both hw and sw upgrades - which required replacing the proms for both processors, so it was effectively all hw anyway) which meant a lot of expense for the (unaffected) 757 being updated as well. Memory is being stretched; there was a SL and a couple of SBs that were usually all done at the same time I think. I was on the bench, so don't know who paid the bill, but a heck of a lot of 757s had avionics upgrades they didn't technically need. Interchangeable parts must have been a dream at the time, but obviously the unexpected costs kicked in.
I few it a few times from Ireland to the US. First time I couldn't believe I was flying transatlantic in what seemed a glorified 737, but it turned out to be surprisingly comfortable. It was a great plane, and it would be an ideal offering now, but it's not easy to turn back on a production line that was shut down nearly twenty years ago. Personally I think Boeing should have developed a short range version of the 757 and wound down the 737 line. All of the problems of the Max would have been avoided.
Having flown the 737, 757, 767, A-319 thru A-321 - the 757-200 is by far my favorite jet. It could nip right up to altitude and stop on a dime when it came to short runways. Really nothing not to like about it. Didn't feel the same way about the 757-300.
The B757 was always my favourite plane. Still is. Flew on it several times with BA and also took one flight on a 300 version from Condor. The design looks excellent and the comfort is better than on any other plane for me. It can also take off from some really short runways. Unfortunately it wasnt developed further and sadly theres almost none of them left in Europe (for passengers). Its just a great plane. Also very safe compared to 737 or 747.
Basically the upgraded 737s and A320s gradually provided the range and most of the capacity at lower operating costs along with single family commonality. It was a cracking plane but overpowered for most missions.
When I saw the short video of the Iceland Air Boeing 757, I had to smile. I flew into Iceland on a Delta flight, non-rev. However the return flight had no space us. So I hopped over to icelandair, and boarded one of their most fantastic looking, cleanest, newly configured 757 aircraft to Detroit. I was absolutely amazed how beautiful that plane looked inside and outside, and the quality of the Iceland Air service.
I flew on the 757-200 only once, June 24, 1991 from Los Angeles (LAX) to NYC (LGA). I found it uncomfortable being a long skinny plane. Two weeks earlier I flew on a 767-200 from NYC (LGA) to Atlanta. I found that plane much nicer with its twin aisle, 2-3-2 seating arrangement.
Flying on the delta 757-200 on Friday and again the following Wednesday. It will be my first time flying on this aircraft and I’m really excited about it. I will be doing a few trips, so I guess I only have a short window to enjoy it before they swap it with a different aircraft. I’m just glad I get the chance to fly on one of these before they’re obsolete completely.
I've flown on a few B757 aircraft, they were really good. When the Dreamliner was being developed, I think Boeing really should have made a Dreamliner that would be six-abreast, and directly replacing all B737 variants in terms of capacity, instead of doing the B737MAX. Now that Boeing is planning to launch an NMA, it's still not too late for that to happen. This six-abreast Dreamliner should be called the B797. Perhaps there may not be much of a case for a B767X, but I think that there very well might be much of a case for a B757X. It should be done like the B777X; it should at least have the basic wing design, windows size, and interior and overhead bins as the B777X. I am certain that CFM can develop a LEAP variant to power it.
i would say that the 757 was a success. Building was stopped almost 2 decades ago and it still finds its place in major airlines such as delta, united, condor, jet2 and icelandair
Answer to your concluding questions: yes and yes. My second preferred Boeing to look at ( after the 747 of course), and it is just obvious that the 757 was prone to compete with the XLR, if only.
Oh my god i remeber when i was going to basically every family trip i hated to see our plane was a 757. Now i miss it a lot. I couldnt ride a 757 for like 5-6 years.
Just imagine a 757 200 and 300 with composite wings and state of the art engines instead of the 777-X that no US carrier has ordered so far... the 757-7 for longer range and the 757-8 for more capacity.
I flew on a Delta Airlines Boeing 757-200 on a direct flight from Detroit to Atlanta to Orlando. DTW-ATL-MCO and a nonstop flight on a Delta Airlines Boeing 757-300 flying pencil from Orlando back home to Detroit MCO-DTW. I love the 757 and I think Boeing could re-engine and update the 757 as the 757X as an Airbus A321 competitor, it could be equipped with newer more fuel efficient engines, a glass cockpit, new wing design and frame out of carbon fiber like the 787 Dreamliner and 777X and fly by wire systems!
The first time I went on the 752 was in September 2011 - BOS-LHR on Delta, then in July 2013 on AA JFK-MIA, it was only in 2019 that I went on a 757 3 times in one year, with FI - 753/752 LHR-KEF-LHR and with Uzbekistan Airways TAS-SKD. The sound of the 757 is so distinct!
Ive flown in 757’s since the early 1990’s and really like them. It would be nice to see Boeing modernize it to compete with the A321XLR. The fact that airlines like American, United, and Delta continue to use them in spite of their age speaks well for the utility of the type.
I've flown on them a lot, both the 200 and 300. I think more and more we're going to see the 757 be like the 747. It will slowly fade away has a passenger plane, but still have many many years left as a freighter. It's great for FedEx and UPS going into smaller cities.
The 757 seemed like a good jet. Takes forever to board and deplane with everybody trying to shove their stuff into the overhead bins. If you're sitting at the back of the plane, there may not be any food on the snack cart when the flight attendants get back to you. You'll be waiting a good while to use the restroom on a long flight as well...think Seattle to NYC or Hawaii. If nobody ordered the 757, Boeing has no reason to re-engine and redesign the plane, and no reason to spend the money. The customers probably didn't ask for an updated version of the 757.
Not only my favorite looking airliner, but many pilots who have flown her love her, some calling the 757 a “muscle jet.” While it may have made sense to discontinue production under the 2004 conditions, with recent changes and the need for Boeing to expedite completion with the A321 XLR, I am in the camp wanting a re-engined 757, following the Max or Neo template, to come forward.
Flew on a 752 twice, both with former Canadian charter airline Skyservice (which folded in April 2010); firstly from YYZ-AUA in June 2006, and the second from YYZ-PUJ in November 2009, 5 months before the airline ceased operations. Flew on a 753 once with Arkia from TLV-ETH in June 2013. Arkia's 2 753s left the fleet a few years later, with the one I flew on purchased by Icelandair. The airline now has two of the A321LR to replace them; Arkia in fact is the launch customer for the type.
It must be a balancing act to decide when to develop a new model line vs trying to modify an existing model line. Hopefully either way we continue to see progress in aviation and some nice aircraft.
No commercial aircraft looks as intimidating add the 757. It is one of those aircraft that laughs in the face of trouble and has the highest thrust to weight ratio to back it up. The 757 was a favorite to perform the aggressive departure procedure out of KSNA that required an ungodly steep takeoff so as to reach a specific altitude before flying over the houses of some very rich people. 757 Captains used to warn passengers before departure of the unusual takeoff and nearly go vertical to get the job done. It was quite the ride. I will miss this amazing aircraft, for sure.

Love the 757. Lucky enough to fly on a BA one once (British Airtours). Live under Manchester and EMA flight paths. Regularly saw passenger and now freight (DHL) flights. The sound of their engines are unmistakeable. A beautiful aircraft.
I loved this aircraft. Flew it a lot when I worked for AAL. I wish Boeing would’ve upgraded them to compete.
The 75 has a special place in my heart , I’ve flown on it 6 times and made my childhood
Imagine if the 757 was still in production
First passenger aircraft I ever flew on when I was 11 (and obsessed with planes), still holds a special place for me.
It never really fell. There’s still nothing that can do what it does. It’s still the most capable airliner out there.
757>737 forever
❤️
*Always*
Ye
Two different jets, but okay.
The Boeing 757 should have never been discontinued
My favorite 757’s were the America West theme airplanes. What beauties. ✈️
It was a rocket ship on take off. Loved that plane.
757 Pilots loved that baby too. You always had excess thrust when needed.
The B 757 airframe can easily fit the huge engine that Boeing tried to force under the wing of the 737 Max.
My most favorite plane by Boieng. Sad seeing it go away.
Atleast in passenger service. Most 757s will probably live on as cargo planes just as many 747s and MD80s do.
Also great video
i would say that the 757 was a success. Building was stopped almost 2 decades ago and it still finds its place in major airlines such as delta, united, condor, jet2 and icelandair
Flew on a 757-200 of July 2022 with Iceland Air and in my opinion the 757 is truly a magnificent aircraft and I think that Boeing should modernize it
One of my all time favorite airplanes - take’s pff like a rocket! I hate to see them go as they seem a natural to compete with the A321LR

Please don't cry! 🤣
I have subscribed! 😎
Wdym fall. This plane has occupied my heart forever.
Been on the 787, 757, 767, 777, 737, 747, DC 8, DC9, MD11, A319, 320, 380 and even the redone commet and possibly more.
American no longer flies them, United will phased them out for the A321XLR by 2025, Delta will continue to fly them tho!!!
I've flown on them a lot, both the 200 and 300. I think more and more we're going to see the 757 be like the 747. It will slowly fade away has a passenger plane, but still have many many years left as a freighter. It's great for FedEx and UPS going into smaller cities.
Flew on BA 757 and spent a lot of time in an engine repair shop working on the 535-e4 and e4B, loved those engines
The first plane I ever flew on AA 757-200, my all-time favorite plane.
Flew a Delta Airlines Boeing 757-200 from Seattle to Kailua-Kona years ago. An interesting experience on board Boeing's flying pencil.
I will miss this amazing aircraft, for sure.
one of my not so favorite but liked planes this plabe still flys around in my Country fleet Uzbekistan airways together with the 767-300er
good plane kinda sad to see its downfall
I have flown the 757s for many years. I love the 757-200s.
And I still love seeing the 757 modified and used for the Sec. Of State Post in the United States Presidential Fleet. And so the Vice President Post uses on of the 757s and that is nice also. They are great aircraft. I am glad I have worked on the 757s during my career.
I’ve actually flown the 757-300 from condor! The route was from duesseldorf Germany to split Croatia. The age definetly showed but it still was a rlly cool experience! I’ll be flying it again soon :)
I always liked the plane. Nice narrow fuselage. Slick design.
I have flown in deltas 757 all the time and I'm flying on one in just over a week!
So sad to see the fall of the world's largest narrow-body jet.
Did you forget about the DC-8-63 at 187 feet length? Catch up.
@@HPG747 No I didn't, I meant current largest but it won't be "current" for much longer. I probably should've said "largest single-aisle twinjet." I'm sorry for the confusion.
The Boeing 757 was ahead of it’s time
I used to fly on the 757 with Jet 2 between Leeds/Bradford and Arrecife in the Canary Islands - was always a great ride!
Had the pleasure of flying on a United 757 from LAX - SFO when I was in the US in 2014, and got a free upgrade to Economy+. Found it far more comfortable than the 737-800's I'm used to flying here in Australia. My second favourite Boeing aircraft only to the 747 really.
One of the prettiest Boeing airplanes, that's for sure.
I love the visuals, the voice and the music!!!
But what music is it? 🙈
Flew on the 757 a few years back, brilliant aircraft and it’s very nice to fly on
I love how Delta still retains a large fleet of 757’s. Whereas American (and probably United sooner than later) have all but given up on the 757.
I know we're on the same page. But I wholeheartedly believe Boeing is missing a golden opportunity by not updating the 757. What a beautiful bird.
I think 757 is one of the most gorgeous airliner in the world besides the Concorde and MD-80/90/717 and any other classic airliners.
I boarded a 757 operated by Condor in 2012 when flying from Frankfurt to Hurghada and back ^^ beautiful airplane. I like the long narrow design of the 757.
ONE OF THE BEST AIRPLANES I HAVE FLY IN. I USE TO FLY THE ONES OF AVIANCA COLOMBIA
I flew the 757-300 with Condor...even in the special livery...
D-ABON? :D
@@spongebubatz yes. Pourly I just saw the Rizzi Bird but newer flew it...
Yes they should update to 757 airlines loved it
The performance aircraft

One of my favorite airliners to fly on, I will miss flying them out of EGE with the rocket-like takeoff and rapid left turn to miss the mountains at the end of the runway. The 737s and A319s they are flying out now just don’t climb anywhere near the same. Fortunately I did get a round trip to Maui on 757s earlier this month.
I flew in one of the first British Airways ones in the UK when it first came out, and I've just returned from holiday in one of the oldest G-LSAL. Always been a plane that I liked and trusted.
Have flown in Northwest, American Airlines and Delta 757's: Delta's were the 300 series, with engine upgrades from the original 200 series American and Northwest were flying. Enjoyed both much more than any 737 I've been on. Just felt roomier, more stable, and quieter.
The 757 was ahead of it's time. Boeing should re-engine and update the 757.
Flew the757 several times MPLS to SFO in the late 90s. The seating is a sardine can, and it lifted off the runway like a DC 6. From watching, a number of pilots began their take-off roll as they turned onto the runway.
