- In this special edition of Reel Action, we take a deep dive into three of Jackie Chan's best movies:
Police Story: Following a disastrous episode in Hollywood, Jackie Chan returned to Hong Kong to dive into the contemporary action movie genre, making one of his best movies.
Dragons Forever: This movie paired Chan with his two friends, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao, for the final time onscreen as a full-fledged screen partnership. The making of the film was fraught with drama, but the end result contains one of Chan's best-ever fights opposite Benny "The Jet" Urquidez.
Rumble in the Bronx: Jackie Chan finally broke through to the North American market with one of his most popular Hong Kong action movies ever.

Dragons Forever was also co-directed by Corey Yuen, who was part of the Seven Little Fortunes as well (the troupe had a rotating roster). He directed a number of Jet Li's 90s flicks such as Fong Sai-yuk 1&2 (aka The Legend 1&2) and was the fight choreographer of many Hollywood films like Lethal Weapon 4 & X-Men.
BTW, just to be clear, Rumble in the Bronx was still a Hong Kong film. Hence, JC & Stanley Tong were in total control of the action.
Rumble in the Bronx is my favorite JC film due to first time nostalgia and its genuine boldness. I always find myself watching it most frequently for its action, comedy, and choreography.
Yuen Biao was always known as the most athletic of the three, even since they were teenagers. I love how he really got to showcase that in Dragons Forever.
Also 'Wheels on Meals" gave Yuen a good showing
probably the best fight scene ever put on film with Benny the Jet Urquidez
''I DON'T WANT ANY TROUBLE''
I don wan no trabull
Recently watched rumble in the Bronx again. It's amazing the quality of stunt's and fighting scenes. without any CGI or wires Jackie leaps from the roof of a parking structure to the adjacent buildings fire escape doorway. A jump 26 feet long, with a 15 foot drop, and if he fails it's 8 stories down. Also from the parking lot roof he couldn't see his target lolz 😂 so they lined him up with a strip of tap on the floor
It's a great looking stunt
I grew up on MA films thanks to my Dad being a fan as well. First JC movie I saw was "Rumble in the Bronx" back in 1994. I went all in on this guy's work and must've seen at least a dozen of his films before "Rush Hour" came out 4 years later. Guy's made so many movies that it's hard to keep up lol.
That “Bruce lai" made me choke the water I was taking.
Just the title Dragons Are Forever I love and to think it was a 1988 movie that being the year I was born! I really enjoyed learning about these Jack Chan classics. The man is a legend and has starred in some of my favorite movies. Also how could us 90's kids forget Jackie Chan Adventures?!
Awesome 😎👍
I forgot he was In Cannonball Run also
Its what inspired him to put the stunts, behind the scenes and outtakes shots at the end credits.
Hal Needham did that in most of his movies. Hal also started as a stunt guy and was a big inspiration of Jackie's.
@@Dilemina 😎👍
Jack is a legend i remember searching all over in any kind of shop that might have one of his movies.
Rumble in the Bronx was my intro to Jackie. Followed by 1st Strike, Nice Guy & Who Am I. Police Story is his best film!
Jackie Chan is the original Tom Cruise, with him doing his own over the top stunts
Tim cruise wishes he could br Jackie chan
@@SexyUndisputed2All
And Tom does as well 😂
@@jimmyjarrett-ws2iz comparing Jackie stunts to Tom's? Doubt it
@@SexyUndisputed2All Interesting thing about that which you will hate because of how big of a fan of Jackie you obviously are is that Tom actually has done more. I don't know if he tried to imitate what he though Jackie was doing but along the way he did what Jackie lied about doing. A lot of his "own stunts" were done by somebody else. It was actually a common knowledge in China but outside of it he created full on fake persona. Even his stories are contradictions in what he says in China and what he says outside China. If you want to check it out there is a Chinese show on youtube called horizon something that aired in China I guess around 2012ish because they are looking for actors for the last police story movie and Jackie is hosting it. There you can see the real Jackie.
@gandalainsley6467 how big is your Tommy poster in your room. Lol 😆. OK in your world he's the ultimate stunt man. How deep does his fist go up in you?
Those practical and dangerous stunts are a lost art. I appreciate how much dedication Jackie Chan put into his hong kong films.
I do like some of his Hollywood films like Rush Hour and Shanghai Knight but most of them lose use him poorly.
Also shoutout to 'New Police Story'. I loved that film. Jackie Chan was more serious and took on a younger group of villains.
I still love how the kickboxers name is “Benny the Jet.”
It’s just like the guy from The Sandlot!
Benny the Jet became a legend!
“Heroes are remembered, but legends never die”~The Sandlot
Pretty interesting trivia, especially about Jackie Chan and his two brothers Sammo and Yuen Biao.
Jackie Chan gave us great movies such as Police Story(1985) and Operation Condor(1990). He was also in Z-grade junk such as Eagle Shadow Fist(1973) and Fearless Hyena II(1983). The Big Brawl(1980) is watchable.
A Lot Of People Sleep On How Badass Jackie Chan Really Is. Great Video!
They do?.. Me thinks many are just unaware. But to say "they sleep" on hin. Yeah thats bullshit
@@HellfireHellesto They're unaware b/c they "sleep on" him. To this day, most Americans have only seen him in his Hollywood flicks.
Operation Condor is my favorite Jackie Chan movie but my favorite part from any Jackie Chan movie is the kid playing a Game Gear with no game in Rumble in the Bronx.
I love his old martial arts movies 🎬🎥 Greetings from the Netherlands 🥋 OSU 🥋
Growing up my old man introduced me to'The Protector'.I think that was also my introduction to the late-great Danny Aiello.Never knew he remade a H.K. version after the US version, need to look that up.Definitely need to see Police Story too. 👌👍
Jackie has fantastic movies before hollywood fame.
Sp glad you showed the clip of him landing on his neck!
(I think its Project A)Brutal🤘
Shout out to J Peter Robinson's Stella music for Rumble in the Bronx playing in the background here
Gorgeous and super cop 1&2 and who am I are my favorite Jackie Chan movies
Thanks for this nostalgie
Classic Jackie Chan!
*note* The love ballet you mentioned is actually sung by Jackie. In fact he has several album's from the 80s on. Some are very good too, even if you don't understand the language.
a 🔥 Story as Well!
If you love Jackie Chan, look up Pablo Francisco.
"Leave me alone!"
"What are you doing?"
"Breathing."
"GET HIM!"
Wonderful editing in the opening montage
Jackies best movies was in late 70's and all 80's 💯
Lo Wei "loaned" Jackie Chan to Seasonal Films and Ng See-Yuen in 1978 to get some of his money back.
Jackie is the man.

Rumble: 👁️ wuz There!
He best fighter Hong Kong 🇭🇰 fighter
Besides Police Story and Rumble in the Bronx, I would rank Wheels on Meals and Drunken Master 2 among his best movies.I don't think Dragons Forever is anywhere near as good as Wheels on Meals. Jackie use stunt doubles during the fight with Benny in Dragons. I would suggest the highly underrated Rob-B-Hood, based on 3 Men and a Baby but with great stunts and fights. It's one of his last good movies.
Jackie chan brought new genre to violent movieswhich is action-comedy and family can watch and encourage youngsters and old timer to be fitness is good.
I like Project A as the best Jackie Chan movie
Damn many Jackie Chan clips on YT lately.... WTF goin on?...
My first touch with Jackie was Snake in Eagle's Shadow on VHS as a kid. Rest is history. Loved Jacke in Cannonball Run 2 also - which is one of my favorite car movies of all time..
Who am I, Police Story 4, Gorgeous, Rumble in the Bronx
You know the rules! One st a time!
- Kung Fu Hustle
Jackie Chan is-GREAT-at everything he does,a wonderful actor,martial-artist,etc,etc,.an icon and living legend.Anything else I've left out ??? LOL.
He's not a great parent, husband, or person these days. There's a reason that people would protest him visiting Hong Kong before the CCP completely took it over. He's a CCP shill, and the CCP won't even let him actually join lol.
He's a terrible person
Jackie chan was in cannonball run 2 , too, Also he made so early 80's movies in usa, because he didn't want to work with a producer with traid connections
I had wondered at that time whether half the men in Hong Kong were named Bruce.
Sup land on Cars! 🚨
What film is the bench-fighting scene (16:21) from?
I believe it's "The Hand of Death". It's the only Jackie Chan movie that I know of where he wears a pigtail hairstyle. He always rocked either a mullet or a topknot in his other period costume Kung Fu movies.
@@johnlloyddy7016 Thanks. Will try to check that out asap.
Yoy are quite good at telling stories so please stop forcing those trivias into the video it interrupts the video's flow
Thank you. I have stopped.
@@wutamanwutman are you one of thr creators behind this account?
Whoever did the audio levels on the 3rd video... Well, let's just say that YT probably won't allow me to say the things I wish upon you! Warning to headphone users!!!
He is compared to Kind of bruce lee. But jackie more like action and very comedic guy. He is 100 percent compared to Buster keaton, Charlie chaplin, Harold llyod, Gene kelly, Jim Carrey, a bit of Mike Myers. Jackie is similar to them and he is similar to Ton Cruise.
From Hong Kong to Hollywood to C.C.P Sellout should be the title I used to have much respect for this man, but after what he said and disrespecting where he, and mother, and father came from I can no longer get him any respect.
Same here, I won't be watching him in theaters if he does ever make a new American film
Who am i? 🤷♂️ wat about that movie
It didn’t do that well. The stunts were amazingly however it wasn’t crazier enough to be in the top.
🆕 PS 👍
I love his older movies, but I can't stand the man anymore. He was a childhood hero, now a real life villain, ironic that he never wanted to play a bad guy in his movies.
Jackies 3 best movies. Would be Wheels on meals , Armour of god.And a splot 3rd between any of the first two police stories, and Pirate patrol
I remember I disliked dragons forever as a kid because Jackie looked like the weakest one of the group.
Rumble in the Bronx was terrible.. Dragons Forever and Police Story were amazing though
No it wasn’t 😂🤦
@@KryptonitePeter Yes it was. Name one Jackie Chan film that has
-stereotypical black people
-terrible voice acting
-a conversation in TWO languages
And a boring plot
@@MrOliverK black people were like that back then you clown 😂🤦. Even today they are into gangs and rap culture. The story plot was average. Voice acting was decent. Dragons forever was the worst movie weak plot and story only the actions were amazing.
Jackie chan adventures cartoon
Dragons forever was shit. The fights scenes was great. But the all over storyline was garbage
Yeah true only the actions were amazing
