I planted a lot of persimmons on a farm by me on the west side of Jacksonville. They have been really easy, they also have Olive groves in south Georgia now near Valdosta.
Georgia is my favorite state!! The people there are extremely friendly!
Giant Fuyu is my favorite. I have 6 variety of Dyospiros on our place.
Can't wait to see the interview with the guy growing mangoes!
Great interview. Tom sounds like a knowledgeable grower, not just a persimmon expert. The point he made re different growing conditions even if in the same USDA hardiness zone is not addressed enough.
Growing 12 varieties of Asian persimmon in north Florida! Mine are 8ft apart. Loaded with fruit.
Triumph is from Israel. They're my least favorite.
Thanks for spreading your coverage.
What’s your top 3? Please include one non-astringent if you can. In zone 9b/10a and leaning towards persimmon over peach for my small yard since they are easier to care for.
I’m right south of him in Jacksonville. Will try and visit this fall. Looking forward to the mango video coming up for cold climates.
Thank you for the video!
He's in a good area for figs, but he should try some other varieties like Malta Black, Smith, White Madeira #1, etc.
Paul, the grow zone just tells you the average for the lowest lows. So it's good to determine if a tree will survive on average, but it's not good to tell you if there will be enough heat for it to be productive.
I live in St Lucie County and purchased a Fuyu persimmon last winter. It has 8 fruits starting on it now. My S FL varieties didn't flower at all sadly
" Nobody knows how to prune really"!
we need no chill hour plums that would be great discovery
What grow zone are you located?
@@scottburgle2169 idk i am international the close to the equator
Didn't know there were different varieties of Fuyu.
I believe I have a seedling cross of Triumph Persimmon and Berniker Black Sapote
😮😮😮
I just got a 7 gallon Matsumoto fuyu variety it had 9 flowers but 6 stayed on and are growing im in Orlando area and I got it from Lukas nursery I can't wait to taste if it holds the fruit. The guy in Georgia should try growing our new Florida peach trees I think they would do good there
He might be too far North.
I am in South Georgia and I only grow Florida/UF Peaches.
@thedomestead3546 have you tried the Florida prince, or tropic beauty?
@@TheRealWickedGardener I have Florida King, Queen and Prince but Prince got taken out by a stray Bamboo runner.
@@thedomestead3546I wish you the best of growing 💪
link to farm triggered a virus on my pc
McAfee WebAdvisor blocked access to his website as a "Risky" "Malicious Site" (?)
I love persimmons! Would you have any idea where I could buy a South Florida persimmon tree please?
www.larafarmsmiami.com and also check out the other nurseries I've featured
Paul. The Website link you posted seems to be a dangerous website. Please remove it.
you are the 3rd person to say that but it doesn't bring up a warning on my site. Interesting
