Scotty your excitement is contagious. These are amazing cars! I haven’t had the pleasure of driving the FL5 yet. I got lucky and purchased a ‘17 FK8 in 2020 with 1,100 kms for a steal at $10,000 less than MSRP from a local Honda. It now has 13,500 kms and it’s 6 years old.

Hey thank you for sharing this beautiful Honda civic type R. I'm a Honda Lover, I have started my life with Honda civic 2004, went to 2019 Sport, and now I have 2022 Honda Civic SI Orange Blaze. I really love Honda Civic inside and outside and engine power. hoyahhh
I got my 2024 Honda Civic Sport Sedan with 5 miles for 27k flat, out the door. Even got Honda's promotional interest rate: 4.9% for 60 months. Best car I've ever driven and with what I pay, best deal you can get.
It was awesome meeting Scotty and we appreciate him doing a video on our car😊. We actually faired better than alot of people paying the market adjustment value above MSRP. We ended up around $60k, because of the wheel and tire warranty, plus two additional accessory packages and the dealer option carbon fiber wing. 😉
That's a great color and you actually faired pretty well. My local dealer wanted $60,777, on a MSRP of $44,385 ('23 Model in Boost Blue). Most dealers in Nor Cal wanted $65k+. The '23 models have both the engine & transmissions built in Japan. Nice cargo mat too 🙂
I love honda..I love the blue paint on this. And the red and black..I don't really like new cars, theyre made too cheap.. but, this is one I'd consider at MSRP if I could afford it.. but,if I were going to spend $60k I'd buy a classic..
I think Scotty should get one and then go on a tour of all the race tracks around America because the good thing about this. It's a race car that you can take all your luggage and camera man with too and it won't break down.
I got my 2022 Civic Touring last October, it’s amazing, although it’s over 37K but for the highest trim level, turbo/gas engine (economy-normal & sport driving modes), leather seats (front ones heated), built-in GPS (for 5 years), 9-inches HD touch-screen, wireless charging / Apple Car Play & Android Auto, 12 Bose speakers, blind-spot info system, all Honda Safety Systems/Sensors (front & back bumpers + windshield + front radar sensor), power sunroof, LED headlights with Auto-High Beam at night, remote-garage opening buttons (under rear-view mirror), electric seat adjustments, pedestrians sensors (forward & backward), LKA, full adaptive cruise control with slow-follow / stop, 18-inch sports wheels …… and much more .. the new shape looks great and the performance is impressive with a 27+ mpg in city
People should appreciate Honda’s more props to Scotty for this great vid! If you hate on Honda you clearly don’t know a thing about cars and history of Honda such as Honda in Formula One Racing.
I mean only people who drives automatic gear thinks this is something impressive. Maybe americans…I remember I broke my leg once and I still drove a manual with one leg. It’s doable.
I recently purchased a 23 civic. I went to the dealership for the SI but the 13k market adjustment made me get the sport instead. No regrets. Edmunds just named it best car of 2023
I'm waiting for the Honda Civic Hybrid to come to the U.S. It's delayed until 2024. The reviews in Europe have been amazing and it often beats the advertised MPG sticker.
I saw one for sticker price a while back with like 6 dudes camping out at the dealership. The car was sold the night before, and someone in a pick-up with an enclosed trailer took it home. From the showroom floor right into the trailer, not even a test drive. My guess is 5 years from now, that Type R with 4 miles on it, will definitely go for a 6 figure price. Most I've seen from a dealer was $82000. Fun Fact: 2023 Civic Type R was dyno tested at 327HP at the wheels. A good reason as to why Scotty was really thrilled while driving that Type R.
Always been in love with the Type R. always have loved hondas, so I decided to work at a dealership and Ive never even seen one up close, I sold the first one we had and I took it out to get gas in it, and it was truly an amazing experience, ever since I was a kid I dreamt of the Type R and finally I not only got to see it but drive it, it was also in boost blue like this one. amazing car, truly.
This or a Mustang GT are two cars I would buy new. I don't think I would buy either one used because they get beaten senseless and may or not be properly maintained. I wouldn't have a problem buying most cars used if they were OK but I would make an exception with this one.
I had an Acura CL Type S. First Acura with traction control, bought new. The engine was upgraded to identical to NSX. Had to trade for new decked, loaded Suburban after a month, before I killed myself and/or others! Could not resist!
Well worth the price, just the LogR alone is worth a lot, the rims designed specifically for that car, the Ricarro seats designed specifically for it too. On top of that onlu 1600 will be in the US. Collection car easily, not to mention it’s the LAST GAS ONLY TYPE R that will be produced .
Epic preview, just scored one last night, my cousin is an assistance general manager at a Honda Dealership here in San Diego, Ca ..a customer fell thru on his delivery, had to drop a huge deposit, but scored the deposit of the original buyer, who lost his, via forfeit...epic score, loaded model too,...its going to BE A FLIPP,...SO YOU "TYPE R" FELLERS KEEP AN EYE OUT COME MAY, CANT TAKE DELIVERY TILL AFTER THE 10th..PDI, ETC...BUT CAR WILL BE UP FOR BIDS....🚙💨.....🦋
Had a blast with Scotty! Just to mention...the above MSRP costs included the accessory packages, wheel and tire warranty and dealer option carbon fiber wing. 😉
Scotty please please get a wide angle lens. Using the standard lens inside a car is ridiculous. I'm sure you can afford it. It just makes me seasick. Maybe consider the insta 360 X3. It will make your productions far easier to watch.
Crazy for a performance car . I imagine what the SI does with the 1.5 . My touring is doing 31.5 mpg in the city . Highway I'm sure it can easily achieve 40+
I have not seen Scotty so... It's not even excitement. It's kid-like joy. Enjoyment. Honda should really gift one to the man -- he surely deserves a nice ride. They should really give one to me too, 'cause I ain't buying one -- no dough 😂. But it sure feels like a hell of a car. 7:19
@@shawnbernardi793 not this Type R. It doesn’t come broken in. I’ve got one and in the manual it says you need to drive it up to 600 - 1000 miles in order to break in.
I have a 2014 Ford Focus ST that I bought new. It has over 170,000 miles on it. The key to driving a turbo car without problems is as Scotty said CHANGE THE OIL REGULARLY. Don't cheap out on oil changes. These types of cars are very rough riding. Low profile wheels and rubber band tires. You get good handling but my family doesn't ride with me as our other car is marsh mellow smooth. His advice on road hazard insurance for the tires and wheels is also spot on. I buy tires from Discount Tire and I always buy the warranty. My four month old tire that I just bought got damaged and could not be repaired. It is being replaced free of charge. The downside is that tires for these cars are HARD to get. I am using my spare right now as a replacement tire is being shipped across the country. It is taking a week to get the new tire. Rare cars come with rare tires and parts. I once had my car in the shop for 2 weeks in December of 2014 waiting for brake pads (warranty work). Fortunately the aftermarket stepped up and now brake pads can be found - but they must be ordered and are never in stock. Big brake cars like these also chew up rotors. I buy the best quality I can get and they last 2 cycles with one turning before they go out of spec. I do my own pads. Scotty is also correct that when you have one of these type of cars you drive it HARD. Since Ford discontinued the Fiesta ST the Honda Civic Type R may be my next car. I'll wait till my ST gets to 200,000 miles before I switch and I better get on the waiting list now because it looks like a 2 year wait is in store. I hate automatics and love driving my 6 speed manual.
I wanted this car so bad. Ended up buying a Subaru Crosstrek for the ground clearance and AWD but this car was an amazing test drive. IMO Honda, Mazda, and Subaru are making Toyotas feel old.
@@123Rockchild I was going to buy a Rav, my last car was a 2010 Rav, but all the Ravs below the XLE premium felt....ehh. If I could afford a higher trim hybrid I would have gotten that.
The beauty of youtube, is that the microphone on your camera records your voice digitally, and then plays the sound back along with video at my end when I view it. This means you actually don't have to shout so loud that I can hear you from europe ;)
I still think the 1.6L 4-cylinder Civic engine from the 90's was the best. WAsn't turbo-charged (although a lot of people I knew, put turbos on them), and was a very simple design (easy to repair -- not so easy to work on in some cases because the working space in the engine bay), but very reliable engine providing you changed the timing belt regularly, along with oil and coolant. Many of those 1.5/1.6L non-turbo engines from the 90's easily went 300k with minimal maintenance. Not sure I could say the same about modern engines with all the computer technology and extra sensors. About the only downside to the 1.5/1.6L was that they used a timing belt, and luckily Honda went to timing chains around 2007 at least on the Civics and many others (although some may still use a timing belt, but most companies have gone to chains since people realized that the advantages of a belt were not really much of an advantage and generally people would break them and destroy their engine -- chains on the other hand generally don't break and are very durable -- just keep the oil changed).
No doubt belts are better except I had a 70’s Caprice that broke a timing chain but it didn’t mess up the engine. Replaced the chain and was good to go. I have a 07 Odyssey that has timing belt.
@@trevormein4026 I definitely prefer chain. Paying a grand AUD to do the timing belt is not worth it on most old cars. Kept oil in the motor and the chain will usually last the life of the car, especially for the jap makes.
Those engine were reliable but were about exciting as a brick. Torque was a word Honda had problems wrapping its mind around during that time, even the 99-2000 Si, while boasting flashy horsepower numbers, wasn't at all what I'd call a torque monster. The S2000 was an extremely good effort though.
My wife had an orange 09 honda fit 5 spd sport till last summer.. had like 209k when she sold it.. still had the original clutch, barely needed anything but maintenance the years she had it, she only sold it to get something bigger and 4wd for winters , it had the 1.5, always ran perfect.

Had a blast with Scotty! Just to mention...the above MSRP costs included the accessory packages, wheel and tire warranty and dealer option carbon fiber wing. 😉
I got a 2022 civic touring and have driven it over 40k miles so far. Have 0 complaints
I had to watch this twice, back to back!!
Scotty please please get a wide angle lens.
Using the standard lens inside a car is ridiculous.
I'm sure you can afford it.
It just makes me seasick.
Maybe consider the insta 360 X3.
It will make your productions far easier to watch.
Keep the honda vids coming Scotty 😊
Great review and reaction
Scotty is the only one that actually loves the pumped in engine noise 😂
I think it can be turned off I could be wrong
Nah i love it too.
At 75 mp/h in 6th gear I get get 30 miles to the gallon. Absolutely love this car.
Crazy for a performance car . I imagine what the SI does with the 1.5 . My touring is doing 31.5 mpg in the city . Highway I'm sure it can easily achieve 40+
My 17 SI Coupe holding 70 on flat ground in 6th gear would get 50 MPG. Man I miss that car.
I drive 77-82 mph to work every day and get up to 39 mph on my si. Love it but wish i waited for the type r
FL5: 'Thank you for getting Scotty to review me. I am the luckiest Type R ever!'
I'm SHOCKED that Scotty is SHOCKED, that Honda has SHOCKED the industry. Truly, a SHOCK to the system.😵 A SHOCKING situation!! I need to lie down. 🙃
major shock
@@Daniel-pc2ov Yeah. Almost had a heart attack!!😄
Im just happy to see Scotty this enthusiastic
crazy to think that people pay 60-70k for a Civic, for that money you could get the Acura TLX Type S
I agree!
TLX type S is way heavier. You'd still lose vs. T R.
Its for people who wanna drive around and have fun, especially with a manual
Still ma Can you makede by Honda. Lol
Not many cars in this price range offer you this experience
Love it!! The sonic blue is my favorite color in these
Scotty, if you're enthusiastic about a vehicle it's gotta be really good.
I have absolutely no need for a car like this...Scotty's pure excitement has made me go out and buy 4 of them
A little hurt by the shade thrown at the Si (I own a 10th gen coupe), but damn I love this review. I still want an FK8 but the FL5 looks amazing.
That's amazing. My 1990 Acura Integra had 126 hp, and that was a lot back then.
Same amount today 😅
Scotty, that nice exhaust note is coming out of the Bose speakers. Fun fact!
The real exhaust is actually whisper quiet.
Scotty’s thrashing it and it hasn’t even reached its break in miles 🤣 my man!
Most new vehicles are broken in before being sold now a days.
Just call me Father Time with my 2020 RAV4.
@@123Rockchild I was going to buy a Rav, my last car was a 2010 Rav, but all the Ravs below the XLE premium felt....ehh. If I could afford a higher trim hybrid I would have gotten that.
@@aztronomy7457 I got a white XLE…with body side molding, moonroof and cross bar roof rack. I think it’s one of the best-looking cars on the road!
The beauty of youtube, is that the microphone on your camera records your voice digitally, and then plays the sound back along with video at my end when I view it. This means you actually don't have to shout so loud that I can hear you from europe ;)
Car industry is gonna have a heart attack considering all these shocks
This is a must...i had only hondas back in days when crx was new thing ...just love honda
Vroommmm I'm a older female and I love sticks. Always had Honda civics. Wished I could afford this beauty. Sounds beautiful ❤
I love this car. I wish they made more of FL5, I'm only 19 in i want it so bad.
@@trevormein4026 belts are not better. It's a stupid idea.
2:17 sounds like scrolling through the menu screen in GT3 xD
“We wanna have fun we don’t care if it’s bumpy” never heard any truer words being spoken 😂
the pic tho
Scotty is excited!!!
Sweeet Car. I'd love to be able to take one for a test drive. These just scream *SPEEDING TICKET!* 😲😲😲
Just got this same one last week, i pard 57k for it, it’s so fun to drive and comfortable! I’m to broke right now to get any mods but i will lol
I’m in love with the new civic Type-R. 🤤
